Gladys Tew Corbin, passed away on May 23, 2026, in Dothan, Alabama, at the age of 93.
Born on January 1, 1933, in Midland City, Alabama to the late Ruben and Zora Bell Hudspeth Harris, she lived a long and meaningful life rooted in faith, family, and the simple joys that made every day brighter for those around her. She was a faithful member of Bethel Baptist Church.
Gladys found joy in many of the activities that brought people together. She loved square dancing and was a proud member of the Goober Gamboliers. She also enjoyed line dancing, and she embraced those moments with enthusiasm and a spirit that was both lively and welcoming.
She was also known as a fantastic cook. Her banana pudding was a special favorite with her family, and her dumplings, made from scratch, were remembered with great affection by all who were fortunate enough to enjoy them.
Above all else, family was her heart. Gladys treasured her loved ones deeply and found her greatest joy in the bonds she shared with them. She was a source of love, encouragement, and strength, and her presence brought comfort and stability to those closest to her.
In addition to her parents, Gladys was preceded in death by her husbands, J. L. Tew and Johnny Taylor; her daughter, Maxine Tew Jackson; her siblings, Jerry, Buddy, Margie, Geraldine, and Maebelle.
Gladys is survived by her daughter, Wanda Collins (Charles); her son, Randy Tew (Helen); her son-in-law, Porter Jackson; her grandchildren, Andrew Jackson, Michelle Rogers (Stormy), Dwayne Collins (Melissa), Becky Tew, Sarah Tew, Autumn Tew, and Jesse Tew; her great-grandchildren, Madison, Donovan, Nathan, Bailey, Summer (Skyler), Adalynn, Olivia, and Ellory; her great-great-grandchildren, Gracelynn, Kason, Teagan, Dakota, Lucian, Theodore, and Conner; her sisters, Grace Kirkland, Maurice Richardson, Josephine Leatherwood (Hugh), Julie Adkins (Jerry); numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Wednesday, May 27, 2026 from Ward Wilson Funeral Home with Dr. Ricky Plummer officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 AM until 11 AM, prior to the service at the funeral home.
