James Stephen Campbell, age 70, of Union Springs, Alabama, passed away on April 7, 2026, after struggling with Parkinson’s.
He was born in Louisville, Kentucky. Formerly of St. Petersburg, Florida., he was a 1973 graduate of St. Petersburg High School, where he was a member of the National Honor Society, served as news editor of Palmetto & Pine student newspaper and Co-Editor of “emanon” student literary magazine. He also played JV football, studied French, participated in Chess Club and worked at Publix. His family attended Fifth Avenue Baptist Church when it was in downtown St. Petersburg. He attended the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa.
He is survived by two sisters, Jan Ford of Ohio, and Linda Kinsey (Rick) of Florida; daughter, Angela (Gerard) of Winter Springs, Fla.; two grandchildren, Gerard and Elizabeth; two nieces and two nephews, Kristy, Sarah, Tyler and Mike.
He was predeceased by a younger brother, Chris; grandparents, Gladys Kersh, and Roy Campbell, Sr.; his mother, Sylvia; father, James; brother-in-law, Mark Ford and nephew, Bryce.
