Obituary from Holman Funeral Home of Ozark – Ozark, Alabama

Master Chief Morris Benjamin “Mo” Armstrong (United States Navy, Retired), a resident of Ozark, died Sunday night July 12, 2026, at his home following a brief illness. He was 77 years old.

Funeral services for Mr. Armstrong will be 3:00 P. M. Monday, July 20, 2026 in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home in Ozark with Reverend David Houston officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home in Ozark Monday from 12:30 P. M. until service time.  Interment will be at 11:00 A.M. (EST) Tuesday, July 21, 2026, in Fort Mitchell National Veterans Cemetery with Full Military Honors, Holman Funeral Home directing.

Master Chief Armstrong was born January 17, 1949, in Ozark, Alabama to the late William “Eutsey” Armstrong and Robbie Newton Armstrong. Following graduation from Carroll High School in 1968, he joined the United States Navy and went to Great Lakes, Illinois for basic training.  He honorably served aboard the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt, the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower during her maiden deployment, and the USS Saratoga, completing numerous deployments to the Mediterranean in support of U.S. naval operations.  Following his military retirement, Mo was employed in environmental services with Civil Service at Fort Benning and Fort Rucker.  He was a member of Rocky Mount Baptist Church in Ozark and a member of Ozark Masonic Lodge #349. Morris served on the Ozark City School Board from 2004 until 2008.  He enjoyed competing in Bass tournaments, was the owner of Outdoor Connections, his final business was M & R Grocery on Highway 105 where he enjoyed meeting people and discussing politics.

Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Sandra White Armstrong; three daughters, Charlotte Korostynski (Charles) of Jacksonville, Florida, Caitlin Armstrong of Thomaston, Georgia and Brandi Andino (Albert) of Fleming Island, Florida; one sister, Tammy Daniels (Keith) of Dothan; one brother, Ricky Armstrong (Leticia) of Texas; five grandchildren, Andrew Andino, Caroline Korostynski, Lucinda Korostynski, Benjamin Andino and William Wallace; one great grandson, Noah Andino.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his memory to the Ozark  D.A.V., 221 Williams Drive, Ozark, Alabama  36360.
