Mr. Claude Jones Dodson, Jr., a resident of Ozark, passed away Thursday, July 9, 2026 following an extended illness. He was 81 years old. A memorial service for Claude will be held at a later date. Claude was born January 29, 1945 in Ozark, Alabama to the late Claude Jones Dodson, Sr. and Jean Pennington Dodson. He was a 1963 Carroll High School graduate, where he excelled in football, baseball, and basketball. He loved his Carroll High School classmates and never missed a reunion. Claude kept in touch with his friends and would be there to help whenever they were in need. He was always learning, taking classical violin in his late 60’s, painting, writing songs and playing the acoustic guitar. His love of good food led him to become a great cook. Claude enjoyed cooking for his family and friends. He also enjoyed fishing, playing golf and tending to his garden and plants. Claude met some of his life-long closest friends while working as the Logistics Manager for Golden Peanut Company in Atlanta. After retirement, Claude built a house on Wetappo Creek near Mexico Beach, Florida. Health problems eventually brought him back to Alabama to be near his family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his younger brother, Rodney.
Survivors include his son, Kevin; brother, Gordon (Jane); and sister, Celia; along with one nephew, two nieces and two grandnieces.
