Mrs. Elizabeth Arlene McClendon Rosser, a resident of Newton, died Sunday morning, November 30, 2025, at her home with her family by her side. Arlene was 79 years old. A graveside service for Mrs. Rosser will be held at 1:00 P.M. Sunday, December 7, 2025, in Newton City Cemetery with Reverend Matt Worley officiating, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing.

Mrs. Rosser was born August 18, 1946 in Thomaston, Georgia to the late William G. McClendon and Elizabeth Puckett McClendon. She graduated from Leilehua High School in O’ahu, Hawaii in 1964. Her family moved to Newton, Alabama where she met Marcus “Fuzz” Rosser and they were married July 2, 1965. Arlene worked as a secretary with Dale County Department of Human Resources for fifteen years and then became a stay-at-home Mom. She later went back to work with the State of Alabama at the Wiregrass Rehabilitation Center in Dothan until her retirement. Arlene was an avid Alabama fan. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Reverend Marcus “Fuzz” Rosser; and two brothers, Tony McClendon and Gary McClendon. Survivors include one daughter, Debbie Rosser Baskin; one son, Gary Rosser (Becky) all of Newton; granddaughter, Ashley Cary (Ryan) of North Carolina; grandson, David Rosser (Bonnie) of Ewell; step-grandsons, Joshua Baxter (Casey) of Daphne, Alabama and Austin Baxter of Enid, Oklahoma; ten great grandchildren; and special sisters-in-law, Brenda McClendon Provo of Utah and Jenna Showalter of Dothan. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
