Another sunny but cool day on Friday, with highs today in upper 50s.

With clear skies and few clouds to hold in the afternoon heating, temperatures will fall rapidly after sundown and by Saturday morning lows should be just below freezing for most of the area.

Saturday: more of the same. A sunny day with slightly warmer temps as highs climb into the 60s.

Saturday night: cool but above freezing lows.

Sunday should bring increases in clouds but rains may not arrive here until after midnight.

Monday morning thunderstorms may linger until mid-day, but after rains move on, the upper air winds will push the lowest temperatures of the season into the South.

The coldest morning will likely be next Thursday, when temperatures may fall to near 20 degrees.

Working the new website: displaying stories in chronological order

We’re so grateful to all our readers for bearing with us while we develop — while the old model was loved, circumstances required Rickey Stokes News to modernize!

To access the “list view” format like the old website with all news stories in chronological order, use the tabs above to go to “Latest News.”

You can access “Latest News” on mobile by tapping the three lines in the upper-right corner. See the video below to know exactly where to find “Latest News” on mobile.

You can also access all obituaries in one location from the same menu. You’ll notice funeral homes are now able to include photos of the deceased.

You can also bookmark the “Latest News” page so you’ll be directed there every time you want to see the news in the same way you enjoyed for nearly 18 years.
