Fort Novosel soldiers visited Westgate Park this morning to run two miles alongside Dothan Mayor Mark Saliba and members of the police department and fire department. Major General Clair Gill, Fort Novosel’s commanding general, led the way for the runners.

“This event was a great way for the City of Dothan and Ft. Novosel to come together and support each other,” the City of Dothan said in a social media post. “Ft. Novosel is such an integral and important part of Wiregrass! We are fortunate to have them located in our area. The next time you see a service member or first responder…thank them for their service!”

A wet grey morning will give way to a windy, cooler, but sunny day and a much colder night.

Today is the first day of Spring, a time of rapidly changing weather conditions. The morning started mild; with temperatures in the mid 60s, but winds blew the rains away, and cooler temperatures in.  Temps will fall into the mid 50s and winds may be moving at 20 to 30 mph today. Morning clouds should clear giving way to a sunny, windy, kind of brisk day.

Tonight will be much colder with lows likely to tumble into mid 30s in the Dothan area.

North of here in Dale, Coffee, Pike and Henry counties some normally colder locations may see low 30s.

Friday and Saturday are shaping up to be beautiful, sunny spring days. High temperatures Friday may stall just below 70 but warming into mid 70s Saturday.
