JACKSON COUNTY:
Two men were taken into custody and a third remains at large following a foot pursuit that began after a traffic stop Saturday night in Jackson County, according to authorities.
The incident started around 7:06 p.m. Saturday when troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol conducted a traffic stop on Highway 73 North. During the stop, three Hispanic males reportedly fled the scene on foot, prompting troopers to request assistance.
Deputies with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, along with the agency’s K9 Tracking Team and Aviation Unit, responded to assist in the search. Authorities said all three individuals are believed to have ICE detainers and are expected to face local charges.
During the search, the K9 Tracking Team — working in coordination with an FHP drone team — located and apprehended Luis Gonzalo Sanabria Canas, born July 5, 1990. He was taken into custody without incident.
A short time later, deputies located and arrested a second suspect, identified as Sergio Valdemar Quijada Mejia, born Nov. 14, 1994.
The third individual, Angel Isaac Sanabria Canas, born May 18, 2002, was not located and is believed to remain in a wooded area near where the pursuit began, authorities said.
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office stated it continues to assist the Florida Highway Patrol as the investigation remains active. Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of the remaining suspect is urged to contact the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.
Officials say additional updates will be released as more information becomes available.

WICKSBURG, RSN
A huge thank you goes out to the Houston County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) for spending time with students during the semester wrap-up for the Forensic Science class at Wicksburg High School.
Investigators with HCSO set up multiple hands-on crime-scene scenarios, allowing students to work through real-world situations and apply what they’ve learned in the classroom. The interactive experience gave students valuable insight into how evidence is analyzed and how cases are solved beyond textbooks.
In addition to the investigative scenarios, deputies demonstrated K-9 handling and drone operations, showcasing the many different roles and tools law enforcement uses in modern investigations. Students also learned about the wide range of career paths available within criminal justice and forensic work.
Wicksburg High School staff and students expressed their appreciation to HCSO for taking the time to invest in education and inspire the next generation.
Thank you, Houston County Sheriff’s Office, for supporting our students and making learning come alive.
