Mrs. Joan Carol Wright, of Graceville, Florida, passed away Tuesday, December 2, 2025 at Graceville Health Center surrounded be her loving family. She was 82.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, December 5, 2025 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home Slocomb with Sorrells Funeral Home directing.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time.
Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Wright was born in Jackson County, Florida on December 17, 1942, to the late Noah and Mable Oliver Crutchfield. Joan graduated in 1961 from Graceville High School and then married in 1966 to the love of her life, Tommy E. Wright. She had a big heart and enjoyed sharing her love as she sat with and cared for elderly people that needed her services. Joan was willing to provide a listening ear and assistance with any of their needs while always having a smile on her face and expressing outward compassion. She was a loving and caring mother and grandmother and great grandmother. Her heart was full because of her 3 children, 6 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren. Joan will be truly missed and the world will be much smaller without her big heart present.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Tommy E. Wright; sisters: Clara Woodham and Mary Hall.
Joan leaves behind three children: Phyllis and Jeff Carnley of Esto, Florida, Sophia and Joe Mesey of Taylor, Alabama, Marcus and Christina Wright of San Antonio, Texas; grandchildren: Wayne Carnley, Brandon Carnley, Cameron Thompson, Brittany Lynn Thompson, Nicholes Wright, Weston Wright; great grandchildren: Jarret Carnley, Rosa Waldron, Savannah Downs, Raelyn Downs; a sister of the heart, Sarah Hodges, sister Joyce Whorley (Homer) and and other extended family and friends.
On November 30, 2025, Steven J. Moore, 59, of Geneva, Alabama, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family. Steve was born on October 16, 1966, in Portsmouth, Virginia, to Emery M. and Eileen D. Moore. He married the former Teresa Lynne Willingham of Duke, Oklahoma; and together they raised three children.
Growing up in a military family, Steve developed a strong work ethic, a resilient spirit and a deep devotion to those he loved. After graduating from Altus High School, he pursued a career in the United States Army, where he quickly distinguished himself as a natural leader and mentor.
Steve honorably served in Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom as a Chinook Mechanic and retired after twenty-one years of dedicated service. He continued his commitment to public service as a Budget Analyst at Fort Wainwright, Alaska and Fort Rucker, Alabama, where he was respected for his professionalism and integrity.
Steve was a pillar of strength, guidance, and unwavering support for his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Teresa; his children, Tara (Jeff) Hartman, James, and Christina (Spencer) Long; and eight cherished grandchildren. He was a loving husband, devoted father, proud grandfather. He was also a loyal friend whose humor, warmth, and generosity left a lasting impression on all who knew him. He treasured holidays, family gatherings and any moment spent with the people he loved.
In addition to his immediate family, Steve is survived by his parents, Emery and Eileen, his siblings, Kathryn King and Andy Moore and many nieces, nephews and friends who will miss him dearly.
Steve had many passions in life, including golf, cooking, watching sports and travel. He welcomed everyone with an open door and a kind word and will be remembered for the
sense of humor that could brighten any room.
Inurnment services will be held at the Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo, AL at 1:15 p.m. on Monday, December 29, 2025.
A funeral service to celebrate Steve’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on March 21, 2026, at Epiphany Episcopal Church, 302 E Grubbs St, Enterprise AL 36330.

ASHFORD… Glen Edward Brown, a resident of Ashford, Alabama, passed away Monday morning, December 1, 2025, at his home. He was 83.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
Mr. Brown was born in Logan, West Virginia, to the late Carl Brown and Evelyn Payne Brown. He attended Logan High School and later continued his education in trade school. He spent his career as a supervisor for HVAC for the City of West Palm Beach for many years.
During his youth while living in New York, Mr. Brown enjoyed boxing and proudly won several trophies for his achievements. He was also an avid fan of NASCAR, football, and basketball. He was a member of Logan Church of the Nazarene Church in Logan, West Virginia.
Leaving to cherish his memories are his wife, Janis Roberts Brown; children, Dina Brown, Joseph Brown (Cindy), Jeremy Brown, Rachel Thompson; siblings, Wendell Brown (Eleanor), Jesse Brown, Peggy Brown, Richard Brown, Ronald Brown, Linda Kaye Brown; eight grandchildren; four great grandchildren; several other loving nieces, nephews, cousins and family members.
Mr. Brown will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather, whose presence will be deeply missed by all who know and love him.
James Malcolm “Peco” McLeod, a cherished soul known for his radiant smile and humble nature, passed away on the 21st of November, 2025, at the age of 34. Born on January 3, 1991, in Ozark, Alabama, James’s journey began as a beacon of joy and kindness that would illuminate the lives of all who knew him.
James was a beloved son to Vernita McLeod and the late James Ward. His spirit of generosity and love was a testament to the strong family ties he shared with his children, Ja-veon, Dav’d, Zy’Azjah, Jorene, and Jianni McLeod. He was a protective and nurturing brother to Jamal and Moses McLeod, Jaquinton Ward, Jessica Ward, and DeAnna Ward. James’s life was further enriched by the unwavering support and camaraderie of his special uncles, Moses Thomas and Chad McLeod, and a host of uncles, aunties, and cousins who will miss him dearly.
James attended Enterprise High School, where he laid the foundation for his strong work ethic and community involvement. He carried these values throughout his life, contributing to his success and reputation as a dedicated and hardworking individual. James took immense pride in his work at Sunland in Marianna, Florida, where he was known for his meticulous groundskeeping. His entrepreneurial spirit shone brightly as the owner of J & J Lawncare, where he not only cultivated landscapes but also lasting relationships with those he served.
An avid outdoorsman, James found solace and joy in pond fishing and deer hunting, activities that allowed him to embrace the beauty of nature and the simplicity of life. His love for dance and music was infectious, often being the spark that lit up gatherings and turned ordinary moments into cherished memories. James’s ability to lift spirits was unparalleled; he was always in good spirits, regardless of life’s challenges.
Known for his genuine nature, James was a great father who instilled values of kindness and humility in his children. His family-oriented approach to life was evident in the way he cared for his mother and the special bond he shared with each of his siblings. His presence was a source of comfort and strength, as he was always there to lend a helping hand or a listening ear.
James Malcolm McLeod lived a life that exemplified the virtues of compassion, integrity, and joy. His legacy will continue to inspire those he left behind, serving as a reminder of the profound impact one individual can have through simple acts of love and the warmth of a smile. James’s journey on earth has concluded, but the memories he created and the love he spread will endure forever in the hearts of his family and friends.
Mr. Robert Curtis “Bobby” Kelly, Sr., of Hartford, peacefully passed away at Wiregrass Nursing Home on December 1, 2025, following a brief illness.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at the Hartford Methodist Church, with Rev. Ricky Hall and Rev. Dric Williford officiating and Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb directing. Bobby’s grandsons will serve as pallbearers, and interment will take place at Hartford City Cemetery. The family invites friends to join them at the church for a visitation one hour prior to the service.
Born on January 28, 1942, in Geneva County to the late Jim Earl and Hilda Justice Kelly, Mr. Kelly was a lifelong resident of Hartford and a devoted member of the Hartford Methodist Church. He was known for his quiet strength and lived his life with gratitude, faith, and an unwavering love for his family.
For over 40 years, Bobby proudly owned and operated Kelly Farms and Kelly Seed Company alongside his brother, Jim Kelly. His commitment to farming was not only his livelihood but also his legacy, approached with dedication, integrity, and pride. Bobby enjoyed spending time outdoors, finding joy and peace in fishing and hunting.
Above all, he cherished his beloved wife, Betty, with whom he shared more than 64 years of marriage. The love of his family brought him the greatest joy. He is survived by his wife, Betty Kelly; their children: Curt Kelly (Gilda), Warren Kelly (Marcie), Jason Kelly (Emily), Annamaria Kelly (David Sorenson), and Tom Kelly (Joni); grandchildren: Seth Fleming (Alexx), Mitch Lucky (Kaci), Chloe Wright (Austin), Brenson Schutz, Connor Schutz, Bryce Kelly, Coe Kelly, Maeleigh Gray, William Kelly, and Morgan Kelly; great-granddaughters: Mackenzie, Mary Kate, and Matlee Beth Lucky; his brother, Jim Kelly (Janie); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
The family expresses their heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers at Wiregrass Nursing Home and Gentiva Hospice for the compassionate care provided to Bobby during his final days.
George Elias Ward of Geneva, Alabama passed away on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at his residence. He was 76 years old.
George was born April 4, 1949, to George Washington Ward and Maggie Mae Ward.
George always worked construction in one form or another. He owned a roofing business. In the rain, sleet, or snow George would help out his brother by driving escort for his mobile home business. In his younger years, he managed orange groves in Orlando, Florida.
George, also known as Elias, loved to fish. He would always have a pole in his truck and would cast a line anywhere! He loved westerns and would always shuck you an oyster if you wanted one.
George is preceded in death by his parents George W. Ward and Maggie Mae Massey Ward; his son, Gary Elias Ward; late wife, Mary Jane Ward; sisters, Jean Hall and Teresa Golden; and brothers, Charles Ray Ward, Andrew Jackson Ward, Grady Lee Ward and Leroy Ward.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 5, 2025, at Bottoms Garden Chapel Funeral Home in Hartford with Rev. Chris Adams officiating and Shelby Lett directing. Burial will follow in Esto Community Cemetery. The family will begin receiving friends at 1:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Left on Earth to cherish his memory are his sisters, Jeanell Miller (Danny), Jeanette Smith (Dennis); baby brother, Billy Wayne Ward (Sherry); son, Chris Hagler (Tina); daughter-in-law, Jennifer Ward; grandchildren, Maria Ward Pruett (Dustin), Garrett Ward, Elias Ward (Hannah) and Gunner Ward; great grandchildren, Gianna, Will, Drake, and Houston; great great grandchildren, Kellin and Reese; among many other nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
George will be remembered for how much he loved his family and friends and casting a pole. We know he is going to find the first fishing hole in heaven and cast that line!
