Scott Edward Spivey, known affectionately as Scott to his family and friends, passed away on April 4, 2025, at the age of 52 in Dothan, Alabama. Born on Christmas Day in 1972, in Albany, Georgia, Scott’s life was one of service, kindness, and a deep love for his family and the great outdoors.
Scott’s early years were spent in the warm embrace of his hometown, where he graduated from Cottonwood High School in 1991. Those who knew him from his youth remember a man of integrity and morals, whose thoughtful nature was evident even in his formative years. Scott carried these values throughout his life, touching the hearts of all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
After high school, Scott dedicated many years to the Houston County Sheriff’s Office, where his commitment to helping others shone brightly. He left law enforcement in 2014, but his legacy of service and protection remained a cornerstone of his character. Scott’s colleagues recall his clever wit and the kindness he extended to both friends and strangers alike.
An avid hunter and fisherman, he found solace in the quiet moments of nature. His love for the color purple was well-known, as it reflected his vibrant and unique spirit. Scott’s generosity knew no bounds, and he often cared to a fault, always putting the needs of others before his own.
He is survived by his loving daughters, Logan Spivey (David Carnley) and Erin Spivey (Cameron Moore), who will forever cherish their father’s memory and the lessons he imparted. His grandchildren, Lana Carnley, Lyla Carnley, and Waylon Moore, will grow up hearing tales of their grandfather’s kindness and thoughtfulness. Scott’s mother, Jan Collier and stepfather Don Kassian, his brothers, Michael Spivey and James Spivey (Emily), his nephew, Michael Spivey (Kayla), and his niece, Karley Spivey, will miss his presence dearly but are comforted by the indelible mark he left on their lives. His ex-wife, Felicia Spivey, and his former in-laws, Jerry and Dannie Maddox, along with his ex-brother-in-law, Jeremy Maddox and Jeffrey Maddox, will remember Scott for the love and joy he brought into their lives. He is preceded in death by his father, James Edward Spivey.
Scott’s departure from this world has left a void in the hearts of those who knew him, but his spirit will continue to guide and inspire. His life was a testament to the power of kindness and the impact one person can have on so many. As we look up at the stars, we take comfort in knowing that Scott’s light will continue to shine down upon us, just as it did when he walked among us.
