Robert P. “Bob” Coldiron, III, a steadfast and honorable man, passed away peacefully in Dothan, Alabama, on March 12, 2026. Born on May 30, 1937, in Danville, Kentucky, Bob’s life was a testament to the values of God, family, and country, which he held dear to his heart until his last breath.

Bob’s journey began as the cherished son of his parents, Robert Potter Coldiron, Jr. and Connie Lane Coldiron, in Danville, KY, where he spent his formative years. His life was one of dedicated service, as he retired as a Command Sergeant Major after over 20 years in the US Army. Bob’s military career was distinguished by his service in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars, where his bravery and leadership earned him the respect and admiration of those who served alongside him.

Known for his loving nature, Bob was a devoted husband to his late wife, Elderene Ball Coldiron, with whom he shared 66 years of marriage. Together, they built a family founded on love and resilience. Bob’s legacy is carried on by his daughters, Laura Coldiron and Cathy Sahagun; his grandchildren, Joey Sahagun, Courtenay Nerbonne, Christine Bridges, and Casey Vaught; and his five great-grandchildren, who will miss his presence immensely. He is also survived by his sister, Wendy Allen. Bob was preceded in death by his beloved son, Robert Mark Coldiron, and his sisters, Carol Card and Diane Sharp, who now welcome him with open arms.

Bob’s life was a reflection of his interests and values. A proud Veteran, he was a strong and independent man who raised his family with the same strength and independence. His love for fishing and Bible study provided him with tranquility and spiritual fulfillment. Bob was a man of integrity—what you saw was what you got with him. As a strict but loving father, he instilled in his children the importance of courage and faith.

Active in his community, Bob was a member of St. Columba Catholic Church, where he served as a Grand Knight in the Knights of Columbus. His faith was a cornerstone of his existence, and he lived it out through his actions and commitment to his church.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Bob at 11 am on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at St. Columba Catholic Church, with Father Jim Dane presiding. Bob will be laid to rest with full military honors beside his beloved wife at Sunset Memorial Park, ensuring they will be side by side for eternity. Additionally, the family will receive friends from 4-5:30 pm and a rosary service will take place at 5:30 pm on Monday, March 16, 2026, at Sunset Funeral Home, offering a chance for friends and family to gather and remember a man who was the epitome of loving, courageous, and faith-filled.

Bob Coldiron’s life was a beacon of dedication and love. He will be remembered for his unwavering commitment to his family, his country, and his faith. His memory will continue to inspire those who knew him, and his spirit will remain a guiding light for his family, now and always.

Daisy Nell Flatt, aged 90, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2026, in Dothan, Alabama, surrounded by the love of her family and the compassionate staff of Gentiva Hospice and Extendicare. Born in Rehobeth, Alabama, on November 10, 1935, to Charlie and Carmel Battles, Nell’s life was marked by her steadfast devotion to her loved ones, her unwavering faith, and her zest for life.

A true matriarch, Nell was predeceased by her beloved husband of 64 years, Pierce Flatt, her son Steve Flatt, her grandson Zane Flatt, her parents, and her brother Johns Battles. Her legacy continues through her loving children, Robert Flatt (Jana) and Lisa Bone (Tommy); her cherished grandchildren, Jeremy Flatt (Veronica), Stephanie (Robbie) Bates, Amber (Lance) Tucker, Troy (Alesha) Flatt, Zana Arnold, Connor Flatt (Stephanie), Carrie-Grace Knight (Hunter), Logan Cantrell (Ryan), Zach Bone (Logan), and Alex Wagner (Shelby); and her 28 great-grandchildren who brought immense joy to her heart.

Nell’s life was a tapestry of love and service, woven with her exceptional skills as a seamstress. Her quilts were not just blankets; they were stories of her love, stitched together for her family to cherish. She poured her creative spirit into making costumes for plays and homemade clothes, ensuring that every thread sewn was a testament to her care. Nell’s home, always immaculate, was an open haven where she entertained and served people with grace and a warm smile.

Her spunky side was as much a part of her as her gentle nature. Nell met Pierce while he was serving in the Army, and their love story was one for the ages. After moving to Texas in 1957, they later returned to Dothan in 1971, where they continued their adventures—traveling the world together and creating memories that would last a lifetime. She eventually moved to Montgomery for a time before coming back home to Dothan.

A woman of deep faith, Nell was a member of Westgate Church of Christ in Dothan from 1971 to 2007. She later attended the University Church of Christ in Montgomery before eventually returning to Dothan. Her love for reading, especially her Bible, was a cornerstone of her life, guiding her in her daily walk and in her role as a supportive mother and incredible mother-in-law.

Nell’s presence in her children’s lives was unwavering; she was always there to lend a hand, make holidays special, and share her wisdom. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren knew her as a kind, funny, and strong woman who could always be counted on for a loving hug, a delicious meal, and encouragement.

Her caretaker, Margie Barnes, became a cherished part of Nell’s extended family, caring for her with kindness and dedication.

Nell Flatt’s life was a beautiful reflection of her love for her family, her passion for life, and her commitment to her faith. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who were blessed to know her. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of those she touched, and her legacy will continue to inspire those she leaves behind.

David Joseph McCarron

David Joseph McCarron

David Joseph McCarron, affectionately known as David to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2026, in Dothan, Alabama. Born on May 5, 1942, in the lush countryside of Ireland, David’s journey led him across the ocean to a life full of love, family, and service. His departure from this world leaves behind a legacy of kindness and an unwavering faith that touched the lives of many.


David’s story began in Ireland, but his adventurous spirit brought him to the United States at the tender age of 16. He settled in New York, where he completed his high school education, marking the start of a lifetime of perseverance and hard work. His path led him to Transit System Path, New Jersey, and eventually to Texas, where he served as a facility coordinator for Sacred Heart. His entrepreneurial spirit later shone bright in Virginia, where he opened and operated his own successful HVAC business, Temperature Tamers, showcasing his remarkable skills as a handyman and his ability to master the trade.

His love for nature was evident to all who knew him. David found joy in the simplicity of birdsong, the tranquility of fishing, and the adventure of camping with his children. His hands were rarely still, as he was always tinkering, fixing, or improving something, earning him the reputation of a true jack of all trades.

A devout Catholic, David’s faith was the cornerstone of his existence. He lived his life as a testament to his beliefs, exuding kindness and compassion at every turn. His faith-filled presence was a comfort and inspiration to those around him. Two months prior to his passing, David made his final move to Dothan in order to be cared for by his family.


David’s legacy is carried on by his devoted wife of 33 years, Claire McCarron, and their children, Anne Liptak (AJ), Therese Brown, Bernadette Kincheloe (Patrick), Mary Heisler (Timothy), Margaret Asselin (Cliff), Catherine McCarron, Rose Simpson (James), David McCarron, Jr., John Paul McCarron (Anna), Jacinta Sherman, Joseph McCarron, and Dolores Jordan. He was a proud grandfather to Thomas, Katie, Sean, Mara, Abbey, Mac, Denise, Ian, Kolbe, Marie, Ailish, Gabby, Kylie, Casey, Nathan, Kayla, Alina, Teagan, Logan, Noah, Ryan, Dylan, Devyn, Nolan, Ronin, Sagan, Cole, and Luke, and a great-grandfather to eight great-grandchildren.

David is also survived by his brothers, Aiden and Brenden McCarron, and sisters, Anne Ward and Betty Blanchard. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and his friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Nora McCarron, and sister, Frances Reilly. Each family member carries a piece of David’s heart and spirit within them.

 

A mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, March 16, 2026, at 11am at Saint Columba Catholic Church with Father Jim officiating. David will be laid to rest in Sunset Memorial Park.

Michael “Mike” Evans

Michael Ray Evans passed away on March 12, 2026 at the age of 70. Born on July 5, 1955, in Dothan, Alabama, the son of Raymond and Melba Spivey Evans.

Mike is survived by his wife of 44 years, Tana Evans; his two remarkable sons, Justin Evans (Stephanie) and Austin Evans (Hannah). He was a proud grandfather of John Michael, Arden Ann, Eliza and Oliver Evans.

Mike is also survived by his brother, Ricky Evans along with his nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

In addition to his parents, Mike is preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Joyner.

Mike retired from Dothan Utilities after 20 plus years as a Lineman then went on to teach a Pre-apprentice Electrical Lineman program for several years at Wallace Community College before his final retirement.

Graveside services for Mike will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, March 14, 2026 at Memory Hill Cemetery with Reverend Jim Tate officiating.

Celeste Rotherham passed away peacefully in her home on Monday, March 10, 2026, after a long battle with dementia, a cruel disease that slowly took her vibrant spirit.

Graveside services for Celeste will be held at 1 PM EST Saturday, March 14, 2026 at Brinson cemetery in Brinson, Georgia with Reverend Kyle Gatlin officiating. The family will receive friends at the cemetery following the service.

Celeste was born on May 30, 1944, in Bainbridge, Georgia, where she grew up loving her hometown deeply. She was a passionate sports fan, with basketball holding a special place in her heart.

She married the love of her life, Bill Rotherham, and together they built a life that took them to Nebraska. After many happy years there, they made the move to Dothan, Alabama, where they put down roots and thrived. While Bill was often the public face of their Interstate Batteries business, Celeste was the true backbone—running the operation with her strength, dedication, and sharp business sense for many years.

Celeste was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 50 years, Bill Rotherham, and her parents, Bubba and Valeria Sims.

She is survived by her devoted daughters: Amy (David) Williams and Ann (John) Stevens; her cherished grandchildren: Jesse and Ellie Williams, and Emma, Grant, and Mattie Stevens; and her five loving siblings: John Alvin Sims, Tina Joanos, Myrvin Fain, Mitch Sims, and Alan Sims, who adored her dearly.

Celeste will forever be remembered for her wonderful home cooking that brought family and friends together, and for her deep love of Christmas—the lights, the decorations, the joy, and the traditions that made the season magical for everyone around her.

Her warmth, resilience, and unwavering love for her family will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Mr. Kenneth Jerry Isler, of Slocomb, passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2026 at his niece’s home surrounded by his loving family. He was 83.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, March 14, 2026 at 11:00 AM at New Teamon Baptist Church in Slocomb, AL with the Reverend Lee Chorn officiating.

The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 10:00 AM and continuing until service time.

Kenneth was born and raised, in the family home in Midland City, AL. He was raised later in Slocomb, AL and graduated from Slocomb High School where he was active in sports, mainly basketball. Kenneth loved horses and was the proud winner of horse races in the local area. He enjoyed rodeos and could be seen in the stands in his western snap up shirts. Kenneth was an avid reader. He enjoyed military history especially Civil War history and later was proudly affiliated with a local chapter of the Sons of the Confederacy. Kenneth was a wonderful story teller and the amateur family historian. He began learning blacksmithing as a hobby and also appreciated collecting antique treasures. Kenneth bread German Shepards and Belgian Malinois, some of which later became service animals for the Wounded Warrior Project. He served a short time as an Alabama State Trooper but later retired as a driver for Fleming Foods. After a three-month illness he passed on family land that was in his family for generations.

Mr. Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, Iverson Nathan and Bama Carroll Isler; brothers: James Isler, Jesse Isler, and Carroll Isler; sister, Joyce Powell; brother- in- law James Edward; nephews: Larry Van Norman, Allen Isler, Dwight Monk, Eugene Isler, and Glen Isler; great nephew, Reuben McAllister; nieces: Faye Isler, Eva Williams, Rita Cureon, and Janice Isler.

Survivors include a sister, Mildred Van Norman; nieces: Deborah McAllister, Sharon Gaplin, Connie Clark, Sandra Isler, Nora Forrest (Danny), Karen Mills (Jerry), Patty Woods, and Heather Van Norman; nephews: Robert Powell (Renee), Alan Van Norman (Kim), Mark Van Noman, and Paul Isler; numerous great nieces, great nephews, great- great nieces, and great-great nephews as well as a dear friend and neighbor, Andy Watson (Tami).
