OZARK…Mr. James C. Harrison, a resident of Ozark, died early Friday afternoon in a Dothan hospital from injuries sustained in an automobile accident, near Newton. He was 45.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2:00 until 4:00 P.M. Sunday, March 15, 2026, in the Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home Chapel. Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Harrison was born in Fort Benning, Georgia, and spent his childhood in Columbus, Georgia, where he grew up surrounded by family, friends, and the kind of memories that stay with a person for life. In the early 2000’s , he made his way to Dothan, a move that opened a new chapter for him and eventually became the place he called home.
He worked hard and took pride in what he did. He was employed with Apec Metals as a metal fabricator, and before that he spent several years with Eastern Sheet Metal. He was the kind of man who showed up, put in an honest day’s work, and earned the respect of the people around him.
Outside of work, he was happiest when he was with the people he loved especially his two sons. He enjoyed being a good father and spending time with his family, whether they were gathered around the house, out fishing, or just enjoying a quiet moment together. He loved playing video games, laughing, and being the one who could turn any room into a good time. He had a natural way of lifting spirits—he was often the life of the party without even trying.
He will be remembered for that big smile of his and the endless supply of dad jokes he shared with anyone who would listen. If you were around him, you were going to laugh—he made sure of it. He was also a proud Atlanta Falcons fan, cheering them on through every season with the same loyalty he showed in every part of his life.
He was preceded in death by his father, Wilson Thomas Harrison (Sergeant First Class, United States Army, Retired), whose service and strength he deeply admired, and by his brother, Daniel Harrison.
Surviving relatives include two sons, Brandon Harrison, Ozark and Dorian Lee, Dothan; mother, Carol Jean Harrison, Ozark; two sisters, Summer Harrison, Ozark, and Rachel Harrison, Columbus, Georgia; six brothers, Daniel Ketchum, Daleville, John Dalvin Harrison (Dwynne), Taylor, David Harrisn, Fitzgerald, Georgia, Reverend Thomas Harrison (Paula), Cottonwood, Andrew Harrison, Winchester, Kentucky, and Michael Harrison, Atlanta, Georgia; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was the eldest of five children and learned early the values of hard work, faith, and family. At sixteen, she moved to Birmingham and began a lifetime marked by determination and resilience.
Over the years, she held many positions: bookkeeping, retail management, working in a portrait studio, owning a ceramic shop, and later serving as a Realtor and Broker while living in Arizona. Yet the role she cherished most was that of mother. She was a member of the Daughter’s of Rebekah, the Order of the Eastern Star, and the Chilton County Master Gardeners.
Margaret was first married to William David Matthews, with whom she shared many unforgettable years. As an Air Force wife, she spent several years in southern Germany, where she fell in love with the beauty of the Alps. In 1974, she married Hobert “Buddy” Edwin Goolsby, her beloved husband and companion of 46 years until his passing in 2020. She is also survived by her dear sister, Doris West Breasseale; her brother, Thomas Douglas West (Barbara); her adored niece, Connie Waldron (Ryan); a host of beloved extended family members, and innumerable faithful friends.
Margaret lived a full and beautiful 91 years. A life rich with adventure, faith, resilience, and deep devotion to family. Her smile was radiant, her laughter contagious, and her spirit unforgettable. She found joy in life’s simple and sacred gifts, such as tending her garden, creating beautiful art, and sharing that beauty she created with the people she loved. She cherished her church family and delighted in gathering the people she loved around her.
Margaret believed people need not always agree, but that there was no room for hatred in the heart. It was a belief she carried throughout her life. She lived with kindness, generosity, and quiet strength that shaped the lives of those around her. Though her presence will be deeply missed, the love she gave so freely will continue through the many lives she touched.
