Doris J. Adams-Windham

Doris J. Adams-Windham

Doris J. Adams-Windham, affectionately known as Jeannie to all who knew her, passed away peacefully on February 28, 2025, at the age of 79 in Midland City, Alabama. Born on February 6, 1946, in Clarksville, Tennessee, Jeannie spent her formative years in her birthplace, growing up with the values of love, kindness, and intelligence that would come to define her throughout her life.

Jeannie lived a rich and fulfilling life, marked by her unwavering devotion to her family and her exceptional career in civil service from which she retired after many years of dedicated service.

Jeannie’s marriage to her beloved husband, John Windham, was a testament to her loving nature and commitment. Together, they built a life filled with joy and laughter, celebrating 28 years of marriage that were cherished by both. Jeannie’s love extended to her children, Julian Adams, Jr., Brenda Hemby, her step-children, Allen Windham and Nicole Smith, and her adored twelve grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Her playful spirit was most evident in the way she loved to tease and “aggravate” her kids and grandkids, a trait that brought so much fun and happiness into their lives.

Although Jeannie found pleasure in many activities, including dancing, bowling, and shopping, nothing compared to the joy she felt when surrounded by her family, especially her grandchildren. Her home was a hub of warmth and affection, where laughter was abundant and memories were made.

Jeannie’s life was also marked by her resilience and strength, having been preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Edna Bagley, and her son, Michael Ochaki. Despite these losses, Jeannie’s spirit never wavered, and she continued to be a source of support and love for all those around her.

The words that best describe Jeannie are loving, kind, and intelligent. She had a heart that knew no bounds, a kindness that touched everyone she met, and a keen intellect that she used to make wise decisions and offer sage advice. Her legacy is one of love, laughter, and the wisdom she imparted to those fortunate enough to have known her.

A graveside service to honor and celebrate the life of Doris J. Adams will be held on Friday, March 7, 2025 at 2:00pm in Sunset Memorial Park. Friends, family, and those whose lives were touched by Jeannie are invited to attend and pay their respects to a woman who was truly one of a kind.

Jeannie’s life was a beautiful tapestry woven with threads of joy, care, and an unending love for her family. As we remember her, we find comfort in the knowledge that her spirit will continue to guide and inspire us. Jeannie’s memory will forever be cherished in the hearts of her loved ones and the countless lives she touched.
