OZARK:      2:43 PM.   Ozark – Dale County 911 dispatched a motorcycle verses car accident on Highway 231 and Roy Parker Road in Ozark.

Ozark Police, Ozark Fire – Rescue, Dale County Sheriff Deputies responded.

The accident is in the northbound lanes of traffic. Critical injuries.

More details to follow.

Ozark Police is in charge of the accident investigation.

This accident involved a motorcycle which was northbound on Highway 231 at Roy Parker Road. The motorcycle was sitting at a red light.

A vehicle traveling north on Highway 231 failed to stop, striking the motorcycle. The driver was killed on impact.

Dale County Coroner John Cawley and Deputy Coroner Adam Bruhn responded to the scene. Dale County Coroner John Cawley pronounced the motorcycle rider dead on the scene.

Dale County Deputy Coroner – Daleville Division – David Grubbs attempted to make death notification. However the scene information which provided an address was incorrect.

Dale County Coroner John Cawley and members of Dale County Sheriff Department just located the family and made death notification.

Coroner John Cawley has identified the victim as 65 year old Rickey Charles Hughes.

The 33rd Judicial Circuit District Attorney Kirke Adams was notified. The body will be transported to the Montgomery lab of the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences.

Ozark Police Department Traffic Homicide Unit is in charge of the accident investigation.

DOTHAN:   10:00 AM.   Dothan Police and Houston County Deputy Coroner Tony Diaz are on the scene of a death.

The death is a self inflicted gunshot death. The location is 3080 Ross Clark Circle at West Main Street.

A subject was found in the vehicle in the parking lot.

Dothan Criminal Investigation responded. No foul play.

RSN does not normally cover suicide deaths. But this is in a public place and Dothan Police have the vehicle circled to block public view.

DOTHAN:    06:54 AM   Dothan 911 dispatched Dothan Police, Dothan Fire Engine 2 ( Lakewood ) and Pilcher Ambulance to a pedestrian verses bicycle accident. The accident location was Timbers and Ross Clark Circle.

Dothan 911 updated the call as a leaving the scene of accident that had occured about an hour before the call was dispatched at 6:54 AM. The victim was reported to be in the ditch.

On arrival Dothan Fire Engine 2 ( Lakewood ) reported a trauma alert patient. The Alabama Trauma Control Center was notified and the victim was transported emergency to Southeast Health in Dothan.

Dothan Police are investigating the accident.

ARITON:      
02:35 AM.   Ozark – Dale County 911 dispatched Dale County Sheriff Deputies to a firearm assault in the 1000 block of West Main Street in Ariton.

Responding units were advised of a domestic relations situation where one party had apparently shot another.

On arrival one person was locked in a room and deputies attempted to make contact.

At least one person was found to be deceased.

Dale County Sheriff Mason Bynum and Dale County Coroner John Cawley are on the scene.

Dale County Sheriff Department Criminal Investigation Division is in charge of the investigation.

Dale County Sheriff Criminal Investigators has arrested Annie Huffstutler for Murder. The defendant was booked into the Dale County Jail about 6:16 AM and is being held on no bond.

Dale County Coroner John Cawley has identidied the victim as 38 year old Shawn Christian Watson.

Dale County Sheriff Chief Deputy Kyle Anderson was also on the scene.

DOTHAN:     After 45 years employment with the City of Dothan the Honorable Roy Driggers ran a successful campaign for Mayor of the City of Dothan.

With vision Mayor Roy Driggers, with a population of around 13,000 people, embarked on plans to construct the Dothan Civic Center also known as the Roy Driggers Municipal Building.

The torch for Mayor was handed to James ( Jimmy ) Grant who brought it on home. In 1974 the municipal offices for Dothan moved into the Roy Driggers Municipal Building also known as the Dothan Civic Center. A complex that would serve Dothan for 50 years from 1974 and population growth to 71,258 today.

In 2022 then Dothan City Manager Kevin Cowper, Mayor Mark Saliba and members of the Dothan City Commission began LOVE DOTHAN. In the unveiling of LOVE DOTHAN was an aggressive campaign to rebuild downtown Dothan. It has been a known fact that cities without a vibrant downtown do not grow.

Today Dothan City Manager Randy Morris, Mayor Mark Saliba and members of the Dothan Commission and others broke ground on the new Dothan Municipal complex. A new complex that will be constructed on the corner of Main and Oates Street across from the Houston County Courthouse.
