1:07 PM Former Daycare Workers Sentenced to Prison in Daleville Child Abuse Case

DOTHAN | RICKEY STOKES NEWS

Prison sentences were handed down this week for two women accused of abusing children inside a Daleville daycare classroom.

Kirk Adams, the Dale County District Attorney’s Office, confirmed that Keiley Gilley and Magan Koker were each sentenced to a split 20-year term. Under the sentence, both women will serve five years in an Alabama state prison, followed by three years of probation. Neither woman is eligible for parole.

The sentences were handed down Thursday morning by William Filmore.

Gilley and Koker were arrested in September 2024 and initially charged with aggravated child abuse and child abuse-torture. Those charges were later reduced as part of a blind plea agreement, meaning the defendants pleaded guilty without a pre-negotiated sentence.

According to Daleville Police Department, the women were accused of abusing children while employed at Happy Hearts Christian Academy Daycare in Daleville.

Investigators say the case began after parents noticed bruising and swelling on their children following pickup from the daycare. In 2024, Daleville Police Chief John Crawford told WDHN that surveillance video from inside the classroom allegedly showed the women striking children.

Happy Hearts Christian Academy Daycare closed shortly after the first arrest in the case.

11:42 AM Houston County Has Animal Control But Chairman Will Not Let Them Work

11:42 AM Houston County Has Animal Control But Chairman Will Not Let Them Work

HOUSTON COUNTY:    When you are told that Houston County does not have Animal Control, someone is not telling you the truth. They do and the trucks are housed at the Houston County Health Department on Cottonwood Road.

There are two Ford F-150 trucks, one a four door and one an extended cab. Both with County license plates, Houston County logos and dog cages on the back. But according to information that RSN has learned, Houston County Commission Chairman Brandon Shoupe has instructed them not to pick up animals or respond to animal complaints.

LOL – the animal control agents even drive them home!!!!  So nice of you Brandon to give them a truck and let them drive them home.

11:10 AM The Residents Of Taylor Will Owe James Brazier MONEY – EACH DAY COST MORE

11:10 AM The Residents Of Taylor Will Owe James Brazier MONEY – EACH DAY COST MORE

TAYLOR:    The Town of Taylor had a population of 2,390 as of July 1, 2025. Taylor, Alabama, is classified as a Class 8 municipality, meaning it’s a town with a population of 5,999 or fewer residents, based on Alabama law that categorizes municipalities by population size for various governmental functions.

A county is not responsible for police protection within municipalities, located within the county, that have established their own police force.

FROM ALABAMA LEAGUE OF MUNICIPALITIES

Robert Lamb took the oath for Mayor of Taylor at 8:00 AM and by 8:45 AM Robert Lamb terminated James Braizer as Police Chief. Former Taylor Police Officer Tim Miller was present and told people he was there because he wanted to see James Brazier fired. Easy to prove a common plan, scheme and design on the part of Mayor Robert Lamb when he took office.

Robert Lamb’s vendetta is going to be costly to the City of Taylor and the Willful Neglect by the City Council Members is going to be costly. FACT CHECK ME!!!!

CODE OF ALABAMA 11-43-230

Every municipality shall provide a predisciplinary hearing prior to the suspension or termination of its law enforcement officers, provided nothing herein shall preclude a municipality from placing a law enforcement officer on leave with pay until the person or body holding the hearing has made its decision in the matter.

(b) Every municipality shall establish written due process procedures applicable to the predisciplinary hearing. At a minimum, this due process shall consist of written notice to the officer of the reasons for the termination or suspension. This notice shall be issued by the person or persons with authority to suspend or terminate the law enforcement officer. The notice shall inform the officer that he or she has 10 days to request, in writing, a hearing before the person or persons with authority to suspend or terminate. If the officer fails to request the hearing within 10 days from receiving the notice, the right to any hearing shall be deemed waived.

Section 11-43-231 “Law Enforcement Officer” Defined.

As used in this article, the term “law enforcement officer” shall mean an official who is certified by the Alabama Peace Officers’ Standards and Training Commission who has authority to make arrests and who is employed by any municipality in the state as a permanent and regular employee with law enforcement duties, including police chiefs and deputy police chiefs. The term does not include any person elected by popular vote, any person who is serving a probationary period of employment, or any person whose term of office has expired.

The mayor may remove any officer for good cause, except those elected by the people, and permanently fill the vacancy if the officer was elected by the council or appointed with its consent.  In either of these cases, the mayor must report the dismissal to the council and state the reasons for the action to the council at its next regular meeting. If the council sustains the mayor’s act by a majority vote of those elected to the council, the vacancy must be filled as provided in Title 11 of the Code of Alabama.  Again, Section 11-43-81 of the Code states that the appointee must be granted a hearing, which can be waived by the employee, before the dismissal becomes permanent.

WHY THIS IS BROUGHT OUT

RSN is not fixed or consumed with the actions of Mayor Robert Lamb, Taylor Alabama. RSN is holding the feet to the fire because the termination was only because Robert Lamb, who served as Ordinance Compliance Officer for Taylor acted as a personal vendetta. This is not proper and the members of the Taylor City Council have not fulfilled their lawful duties in preventing such personal vendetta.

HEY JAMES, CAN I BORROW SOME MONEY BECAUSE IT LOOKS LIKE TAYLOR ALABAMA WILL BE PAYING YOU

Since November 3, 2025, you the residents of Taylor Alabama are apparently legally obligated to pay James Brazier back pay, to include Christmas bonus from November 3 to date. You can not only look to Mayor Robert Lamb but to the members of Taylor City Council. Who do not even know how many police officers the city even has.

If you remember when Ozark Mayor termiated Marlos Walker as Police Chief, in a political vendetta, they had to re-instate Walker because they did not do it legally. That is when the Ozark City Council realized not to listen to then Mayor Mark Blankenship. And thus the next election the registered voters of Ozark overwhelmingly kicked Mark Blankenship’s buttocks HARD. All the way to Florida!!!

FORMER TAYLOR MAYOR BILLY SNELL

He left the City of Taylor in good financial condition, with policies and procedures. So Billy, WHY DID YOU LEAVE TAYLOR ALL ALONE ???  It is not Billy Snell’s fault that you, the registered voters, elected as you did.
