Beauty.  Feels cool.  Lookin’ great out the window Wednesday.

A cool start to the morning should head into plenty of sunshine and a nice warm-up today.  Low temperatures fell into the 40s in south Alabama. Later today highs make it to near 75. So a beautiful and pleasantly cool day.

We are looking for basically blue skies and warming temperatures for the next several days- on through the weekend. A clear sky at night will allow for cool but mild nights.

A Cottondale man was charged with the possession of graphic videos including children and lewd acts with animals.

James Patrick Boutwell, Jr., 22, faces seven counts of possession of child pornography, possession of videos containing sexual activity involving animals, and unlawful use of a communication device.

Jackson County Sheriffs in Florida said they received a tip that he uploaded child pornography to a smartphone app.

Investigation revealed him to possess two videos and five photos of child pornography, along with four videos of adult women performing sexual acts with animals.

He was taken into custody Monday and reportedly admitted to uploading the videos and images.

His bond is set at $60,000.

This investigation is still ongoing, and more charges are forthcoming.

“The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office will absolutely not tolerate possessing, viewing, or sharing child pornography,” Sheriff Edenfield said. “If you are found to be in possession of child pornography, you will be arrested and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”

Alabama tax deadline extended to May 1

As the typical tax deadline approaches, know Alabama qualified for an extension on taxes; your new deadline is May 1.

The IRS said in October federal tax relief was coming for individuals and businesses in states affected by Hurricane Helene.

The later deadline applies to:

Any individual or business that has a 2024 return normally due during March or April 2025.

Any individual, business, or tax-exempt organization that has a valid extension to file their 2023 federal return. The IRS noted, however, that payments on these returns are not eligible for the extra time because they were due last spring before the hurricane occurred.2024 quarterly estimated income tax payments normally due on Jan. 15, 2025, and 2025 estimated tax payments normally due on April 15, 2025.

Quarterly payroll and excise tax returns normally due on Oct. 31, 2024, and Jan. 31 and April 30, 2025.

State taxes are still due in Alabama on April 15.

The lookin’ out the window weather-  looks great.

Clouds have cleared and straight ahead we can look for several sunny and mild Spring days with slightly cool nights.

All week, and through next Monday, every day will be marked with bright sunshine and high temperatures stretching into the 70s. So home air conditioning and heater units will get a break. It will be perfect window-opening weather.

Today, Tuesday, we can look for a cloud-free sky and highs in the upper 60s.  The cooler day will lead into a cool, clear night. Lows tonight may drop into the 40s, like last night.

Each day, through the weekend, will see sunny and gradually warming days and mild nights. By midweek afternoon highs will be in the 70s and by next Monday, highs, with sunshine each day, should warm back to 80 degrees.
