James “Bobby” Robert Dailey, Jr., a beloved father, friend, and creative spirit, passed away peacefully on October 30, 2025, in a Birmingham hospital. He was 75 years old and was born on August 13, 1950.
Bobby grew up in Columbus, Georgia. He graduated from Jordan Vocational High School, where his diverse talents began to shine. Bobby proudly served in the United States Army, where he developed a strong sense of duty. He furthered his education at Troy State University, majoring in Accounting, which laid the groundwork for his entrepreneurial ventures. In the 1980s, he owned and operated Dailey’s Music Market, a place where his passion for music flourished. In the early 2000s, Bobby continued his business ventures by owning and operating Ampro Moving Company, embodying dedication in every aspect of his life.
Bobby was not just a businessman; he was a Scout Master for Troop 38 at First United Methodist Church, leaving a lasting impact on the young lives he guided and mentored. His love for music shaped his life, as he skillfully played the drums, piano, guitar, and numerous other instruments. He even played the drums at church, using his talents to uplift and inspire others.
An avid lover of singing karaoke, Alabama football, and the outdoors, he enjoyed life’s adventures through hiking, exploring nature, and spending time at the beach. Bobby’s artistic talents came to life through painting with various mediums, allowing him to capture the beauty of the world around him. Bobby was also a Black Belt in Yoshiki karate and a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church.
Above all, Bobby cherished the relationships he built along his journey. He was a devoted friend, a loving father, and a mentor who brought joy and creativity into the lives of many. His laughter and boundless enthusiasm for life will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. And Mrs. James Robert Dailey, Sr., of Columbus, Georgia, and his first wife and mother of his children, Dianne Anderson Dailey.
Bobby is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Dailey of Midland City; his sons, Todd Dailey of Dothan, and Jason (Teal) Dailey of Birmingham; his grandchildren Ty (Laney) Dailey, Kayte Dailey, Isaac Dailey, and Eli Dailey; two sisters-in-law, Joyce Efurd and Carol Smith both of Dothan, and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 3, 2025, at Memory Hill Cemetery with Pastor Paul Edenfield officiating. The family will receive friends at Ward Wilson Funeral Home from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. prior to the service.
Benny Williams, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away after a short unexpected illness on Thursday, October 30, 2025, in Dothan, Alabama, at the age of 82. Born on August 24, 1943, in Jakin, Georgia, Benny was a man whose warmth and kindness touched the lives of all who knew him.
Graveside services will be held at 11:30 A.M. Monday, November 3, 2025 at the Ashford City Cemetery with Reverend Dean Moore and Reverend Todd Thorpe officiating and Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing.

Benny was the son of Chalker and Blanche Bell Williams, who preceded him in death. He is also preceded in death by his first wife, Wanda Granger Williams and brother-in-law, Bill Geisinger. He retired from Georgia Pacific after 45 years. He is survived by his beloved wife of 27 years, Sandra Williams. Together, they shared a life full of love and mutual respect. He was a devoted father to his daughter, Lauri Williams Runge (Joey Lassiter), and grandfather to Tyler Runge. Benny’s legacy also lives on through his three step-daughters, Becky O’Toole (Danny), Susan Leger, and Melissa Walding (Bill), as well as his sister, Marilyn Geisinger, and his eight step-grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and two nieces.
Benny’s life was marked not only by his commitment to his family but also by the joy he found in the simple pleasures of life. His passion for John Deere tractors was more than a hobby; it was a part of his identity.Benny’s passing leaves a void in the lives of his family and friends, but they take comfort in knowing that he lived a full and happy life, surrounded by those he loved.
NEWVILLE… Christopher Leon “Dick” Morris, a resident of Newville, Alabama, passed away Friday, October 24, 2025, at his home. He was 56.
Graveside services will be held 1:00 P.M. Saturday, November 1, 2025, at Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, with Reverend Eddie Thomas and Reverend Norman Fryer officiating. Following the service, the family will have repast at the Carrol Family Gathering Place, 339 South Railroad Street, Newville, Alabama 36353. Born on August 30, 1969, Christopher was the beloved son of the late Earnest and Geraldine Morris. He was preceded in death by his brother, Willie Earl Poke; his nephew; his nephew, Fredrick Morris; his aunts, Neva Jean Carrol and Willie Joyce Nelson; and his uncle, Raymond Carrol, husband of the late Neva Jean Carrol.
Christopher was a hardworking man who spent much of his life dedicated to farming. Outside of work, he enjoyed the simple pleasures of life – especially fishing and watching Alabama football. His warm personality, sense of humor, and love for his family will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Leaving to cherish his memory is his devoted wife, Kimberly Wilson Morris; his son, Christopher Johnson; and his beloved granddaughter, Christaline Johnson. He is also survived by his loving sisters, Elizabeth Perry of Rochester, NY, Sherita Morris Harper (Micheal Harper) of Dothan, AL, Patricia Poke of Dothan, AL, and Cassandra Poke of Dothan, AL, and brother, Darrell Collins. He is further survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other relatives and friends who loved him dearly.
Christopher will forever be remembered for his hardworking spirit, kind heart, and the love he shared with those around him.
ABBEVILLE. . .George Edgar Murphy, a resident of Abbeville, died Thursday morning, October 30, 2025, at his home. He was 97.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, November 1, 2025, in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Reverend Henry Fullington, Darden Kirby and Reverend Justin Aultman officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 P.M. Saturday in the church sanctuary. Mr. Murphy was a lifelong resident of the Murphy Station Community in Abbeville, son of the late Clarence Malcolm Murphy, Sr. and Mary Roberts Murphy. He was a graduate of Abbeville Secondary Agricultural School and attended Alabama Polytechnic Institute (Auburn University) where he received a B.S. Degree in Agricultural Economics. Upon graduation from Auburn, Mr. Murphy was in the first group that was drafted into the U. S. Army from Henry County. He was a veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Murphy was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. He was retired as the owner and operator of Murphy Farm Center. Mr. Murphy was a life member of the Bradley-Keller American Legion Post No. 119. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jane Brannon Murphy; two sisters, Jane Kirby and Sarah Messick; and a brother, Mack Murphy.
Surviving relatives include two daughters, Lisa Murphy Trawick (Chuck), Newville; and Ann Murphy, Huntsville; a son, Lee Murphy (Nancy), Enterprise; a sister-in-law, Jane Messick Murphy, Abbeville; grandchildren, Amanda Aultman (Justin), Claudia Trawick, Eliza Trawick, Cal Trawick (Laurel), Justin Murphy, Josh Murphy (Mallory), and Julie Butterworth (Ryan); great-grandchildren, Dalton Aultman (Katie), Branden Aultman, Evelyn Murphy, Abigail Murphy, Mary Margaret Murphy, Jackson Butterworth, Caden Butterworth and Mary Ryan Butterworth; a great-great-granddaughter, Josie Aultman; several nieces and nephews.
Serving as active pallbearers will be the grandsons and Andrew Hartzog, Mike Murphy, Brendt Murphy, James Jackson, Roger Scott and Chris Daughtry.

Mrs. Laney was born in Ozark, Alabama to the late Oscar Howard Phillips and Ruby Pearl Chalker Phillips. She was a 1963 graduate of Carroll High School. Mrs. Helen had lived in Montgomery, Alabama for twenty-five years before moving to Headland in 1997. She enjoyed quilting and cooking for her family. Her true passion was spoiling her nieces and nephews.

Laney; her brothers, Kenneth Phillips (Amy), Neal Phillips (Sandi), and Jackie Phillips (Cora); her sister-in-law, Glenda Lynch (John); her nieces and nephews, Mark Phillips (Anne Katherine), Lindsey Salter (Steven), Andy Phillips (Stacey), Kristi Bell (Jeremy), Holly Hardwick (Richard), Anna Johnson, Jeremy Woodham (Kristen), and Joshua Woodham (Gina); and her several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Wendell Lupton Peacock, a cherished pillar of the Poplar Head Community, passed away on October 29, 2025, at the age of 70. Born on September 10, 1955, in Bonifay, FL, to the late Henry Lupton and Vernell Myers Peacock, Wendell lived a life marked by warmth, laughter, and a deep love for his family.
Known for his humor and friendly demeanor, Wendell had the unique ability to turn strangers into friends instantaneously. His gift of gab was as much a part of him as the Florida sun. He knew every nook and cranny of Holmes County, from its dusty roads to serene creeks, due to his love for the land and its people. His passion for life was only surpassed by his love for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom he considered his ultimate pride and joy.
Survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Cynthia Smith Peacock, he was a treasured partner, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother. Wendell was the proud father of two daughters, Brandee Wilson (Eric) of Geneva, AL, and Miranda Rae Peacock of Bonifay, FL. He cherished the role of “grandpa” even more, especially to his grandchildren Reed Wilson, Blake Wilson, Claudia Paulk (Isaiah), and Courtney Monk, as well as his step-grandson Colby Pugh (Taylor). His joy continued to grow with the birth of great-grandson Obadiah Paulk, the expectant arrival of great-granddaughter Kaylee Paulk, and the love for his step-great-grandchildren, Mackenzie and Gunner Pugh. Wendell’s legacy of kinship is further carried on by his brother, Willard Peacock (Tereasa), along with his nephews, Hunter Peacock (Anna), and Grady Peacock; two great nieces, one great nephew, and a host of extended family members.
A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 2, 2025, at Poplar Head Community Church with Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home of Geneva directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, November 1, 2025, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m.
