Angie Lois Costelloe, a resident of Ashford, Alabama died peacefully Friday February 28, 2025, surrounded by her family after a short courageous battle with cancer. She was 49.
Funeral Services will be held at 2PM Wednesday, March 5, 2025, in Clearman Chapel at Southern Heritage Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1PM to 2PM at the funeral home.
Angie was born here in Alabama to Donnie Costelloe and the late Barbara Conrad Costelloe. Her favorite hobby was making and designing cups. She never met a stranger and went out of her way to help anyone in need. Angie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother “GiGi” and sister. She will be dearly missed by all who loved and knew her.
She was preceded in death by her mother; a brother, Donnie Costelloe; and a sister, Brenda Williams.
Left to cherish her memories are her husband, Carlos Lopez; a son, Isaiah Austin Sr “Smokey”; a daughter, Amelia Lopez; three brothers, Mitchell Williams (Moana Dupree), Ronnie Costelloe (Tina Jackson), and Donnie (Ray) Costelloe; two sisters, Teresa Owens and Ann Costelloe “Sister”; three grandchildren, Miracle Austin “Miri”, Faith Austin “Fay Fay”, and Isaiah Austin Jr; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Doris J. Adams-Windham, affectionately known as Jeannie to all who knew her, passed away peacefully on February 28, 2025, at the age of 79 in Midland City, Alabama. Born on February 6, 1946, in Clarksville, Tennessee, Jeannie spent her formative years in her birthplace, growing up with the values of love, kindness, and intelligence that would come to define her throughout her life.
Jeannie lived a rich and fulfilling life, marked by her unwavering devotion to her family and her exceptional career in civil service from which she retired after many years of dedicated service.
Jeannie’s marriage to her beloved husband, John Windham, was a testament to her loving nature and commitment. Together, they built a life filled with joy and laughter, celebrating 28 years of marriage that were cherished by both. Jeannie’s love extended to her children, Julian Adams, Jr., Brenda Hemby, her step-children, Allen Windham and Nicole Smith, and her adored twelve grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Her playful spirit was most evident in the way she loved to tease and “aggravate” her kids and grandkids, a trait that brought so much fun and happiness into their lives.
Although Jeannie found pleasure in many activities, including dancing, bowling, and shopping, nothing compared to the joy she felt when surrounded by her family, especially her grandchildren. Her home was a hub of warmth and affection, where laughter was abundant and memories were made.
Jeannie’s life was also marked by her resilience and strength, having been preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Edna Bagley, and her son, Michael Ochaki. Despite these losses, Jeannie’s spirit never wavered, and she continued to be a source of support and love for all those around her.
The words that best describe Jeannie are loving, kind, and intelligent. She had a heart that knew no bounds, a kindness that touched everyone she met, and a keen intellect that she used to make wise decisions and offer sage advice. Her legacy is one of love, laughter, and the wisdom she imparted to those fortunate enough to have known her.
A graveside service to honor and celebrate the life of Doris J. Adams will be held on Friday, March 7, 2025 at 2:00pm in Sunset Memorial Park. Friends, family, and those whose lives were touched by Jeannie are invited to attend and pay their respects to a woman who was truly one of a kind.

Walter Lee Johnson, Jr., a man known for his courageous spirit, selfless nature, and kindness, passed away peacefully on February 27, 2025, at the age of 60 in Dothan, Alabama. Born on November 20, 1964, in Winter Haven, Florida, Walter was a beacon of light and love to all who knew him.
The beloved son of Walter Johnson Sr. and Bessie (Floyd) Henderson, Walter Jr. grew up in a warm and nurturing home alongside his siblings Craig Johnson (Ramona), Todd Johnson, and sister Laticia Howard. He was a cherished uncle to Diarri Johnson and Asha Johnson, and a treasured member of a large family that included many aunts, uncles, and cousins. His family was the cornerstone of his life, and the bonds he shared with them were unbreakable.
Walter’s thirst for knowledge and his passion for helping others led him to attend Tuskegee University, where he graduated in 1986 with a Bachelor’s degree in Radiology Technology. His education laid the foundation for a career dedicated to the well-being of others, a theme that would resonate throughout his life.
In 1993, Walter made the move to Dothan, Alabama, a place that would become his second home. It was here that he served his community with distinction as a Dothan firefighter until his retirement. His bravery and dedication to his work were hallmarks of his character, and he was deeply respected by his colleagues and those he served.
Walter’s interests were as generous and life-affirming as his personality. He was born and raised in Winter Haven, Florida, and carried with him a love for the simple pleasures in life. Walter found joy in being around good people, and his presence was a source of comfort and happiness to those around him. His love for music was profound, and his voice was a gift that he shared generously, singing in the church choir and touching the hearts of all who listened.
In 2020, Walter was diagnosed with cancer, but even in the face of this challenge, his love for life never wavered. He faced his illness with the same courage and grace that he exhibited in every aspect of his life. Walter’s resilience and positive outlook were an inspiration to all who knew him, and his legacy of strength will live on in the hearts of his loved ones.

Bonnie Faye Smith, known affectionately as Bonnie to her friends and family, passed away peacefully on February 28, 2025, in Dothan, AL, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on September 17, 1951, in Coffee Springs, AL, Bonnie was a beacon of joy and laughter, touching the lives of many with her kind heart and infectious humor.
Bonnie spent her professional years dedicated to hard work, initially in sewing companies and later nurturing life in chicken houses where she meticulously picked up eggs. Her work ethic was unmatched, and she was known for her reliability and the care she brought to every task. Beyond her work, Bonnie was deeply involved in her community, always ready to lend a helping hand and share her vibrant spirit.
A woman of many interests, Bonnie’s love for singing gospel music filled the rooms of her home with warmth and devotion. Her voice was a testament to her faith and her passion for life. Karaoke nights were a particular joy for Bonnie, where she shone brightly, captivating everyone with her performances. An avid Auburn football fan, she never missed a game, cheering on her team with fervent enthusiasm.
Bonnie’s intellect was as sharp as her wit, often found with her nose in a love story or solving crossword and box puzzles that challenged her mind. Her love for the outdoors was evident in her fondness for fishing, where she would spend tranquil hours waiting for the next big catch. Bonnie was also an ardent fan of Loretta Lynn, and her music was a constant in the Smith household.
As a natural-born jokester, Bonnie’s humor was a source of constant entertainment. Her ability to find the funny side of life was a gift that she shared generously with all who knew her. Always ready for a chat, she loved long conversations on the phone, connecting with friends and family, and sharing stories that would often end in laughter.
Above all, Bonnie cherished her family. She is survived by her loving daughters, Janette Selnes, Cece Kendall (Earl), Elizabeth Bartlett, and K.J. Hollis (Milli); her sons, Roger Burton and Peanut Smith (Tonya); her special friend, “Big Mama,” Audrey Thornton; and her adoring grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Bonnie was a sister to Jerry Hall and Clyde Hall (Cubill), and sister-in-law to Richard Gouge. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, Wiley J. and Mary Anna Hall, and her siblings Max Ray Hall, Junebug, Mizell Hall, Peggy Baxley, Cupidean Holloway, Ann Cook, and Faye Gouge. Even as we mourn her loss, we take comfort in knowing that she is reunited with them once more.
The words “loving” and “funny” best describe Bonnie. She was a woman whose love knew no bounds, and she imparted joy and laughter wherever she went. Her legacy will live on in the stories shared, the memories cherished, and the love she so freely gave.
Bonnie’s life will be celebrated in the hearts of those she leaves behind. Her family and friends will forever hold onto the sound of her laughter, the warmth of her hugs, and the unwavering love she had for each and every one of them. Bonnie Faye Smith’s story is one of love, laughter, and an unending zest for life. She will be profoundly missed and eternally remembered.
A celebration of Bonnie’s life will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, in the Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. The family will be receiving friends an hour prior, from 10-11 am in the chapel. Burial will follow in Bellwood Cemetery.
Devan Lamar Broxton, a beloved son, was born sleeping on December 23, 2024, at UAB, leaving a brief but profound mark on the hearts of his family. In his fleeting moments, Devan was surrounded by love and warmth, cradled in the loving embrace of his parents, Logan and David.
Though his time on earth was short, Devan’s memory will be cherished by his parents, Logan Withers and David Broxton; his siblings, Kalep Broxton, Zoie Broxton, Willa Broxton, Rylan Lerner, and Tori Hysmith; and great-grandfather, Lamar Anderson. Devan was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Robert and Leslie Withers; paternal grandparents, Marvin and Annette Broxton; great-grandparents, Barbara and Dave Palmer, and great-grandmother, Linda Anderson.
Devan’s presence was a gift, and his spirit will forever be woven into the fabric of his family’s history. He will be held in their hearts until the end of time.
