Robert Earl Chandler Sr.

Robert Earl Chandler Sr., passed away peacefully on January 26, 2025, at his residence in Gordon, Alabama. He was 74. Born on November 2, 1950, in Miami, Florida, Robert was known to his friends and family as a kind and adventurous soul with a passion for the outdoors.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

Robert is preceded in death by his devoted wife, Carla Chandler, with whom he shared 36 beautiful years, and a sister, Patricia Wolfe.

Robert leaves behind a legacy of love and adventure with his four sons, Robert Chandler Jr. (Bobby), Rusty Matheney, James Chandler, and Todd Chandler, as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will continue to cherish his memory.

He spent years mastering his craft as an auto body mechanic, a trade that not only supported his family but also served as a canvas for his relentless work ethic and eye for detail. His hands, always ready to repair and restore, found the same pleasure in his personal pastimes. Undoubtedly, Robert will be remembered standing by the lake at dawn, rod in hand, or navigating the peaceful woods during hunting season, reveling in the gifts of nature.

Robert’s unwavering kindness and adventurous spirit will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

Mrs. Wynell Skinner Leonard

Wynell Skinner Leonard, age 88, of Dothan, passed away Thursday, January 23, 2025.

Born December 13, 1936 in Scottsboro, Alabama to the late Alva Skinner and Nellie Nall Skinner, Wynell grew up in Florala, Alabama with friends and cousins she would be close to for life. She graduated from Florala High School in 1955 and has been a resident of Dothan for over sixty years.

Wynell was married to her husband, Thomas Foster Leonard for fifty-five years prior to his death. She loved him and their family with her whole heart. She loved to cook for her family creating cherished memories not only for her but her family too. Wynell and her husband worked together for many years in construction and real estate companies which they owned. After her husband’s death she enjoyed traveling with the church groups to places she had never been including her dream trip to Ireland.

Wynell was a long-time devoted member of Calvary Baptist Church, teaching Sunday School for over twenty years of elementary school children at Calvary and was active in many other church activities. She especially enjoyed singing in the choir, as well as singing solos and in small groups with her close friends at churches and nursing homes in the Dothan area.

In addition to her parents, Wynell was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Foster Leonard and her granddaughter, April Smith.

Wynell is survived by her brother Franklin Skinner of Dothan AL, sons, Mike Leonard (Angie) of Dothan AL and Paul Stephen Leonard (Jan Roberts) of Mountain Brook AL; her grandchildren, John Roberts Leonard (Miranda) of Tuscaloosa AL, Julia Alexa Leonard (Ryan Spencer) of Falls Church VA, and Kristen Boutwell of Dothan AL; her great-grandchildren, Parker Boutwell and Easton Michael Wiggins; numerous other relatives and friends.

Wynell was a devoted follower of Jesus who she loved with her whole heart. Her family and friends rejoice that she is now in heaven with loved ones and in no more pain and suffering. The family wishes to thank friends and relatives that made special efforts to come see her and send cards to her in the last two years. It did help brighten her days when she could no longer get out due to her health issues.

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Saturday, February 1, 2025 at Calvary Baptist Church with Dr. Paul Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 1 PM until 2 PM, Saturday, February 1, 2025 prior to the service at Calvary Baptist Church.

Shelley Enfinger, Jr., age 76, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer.

Graveside services will be held at Bay Springs Baptist Church Cemetery on Wednesday, January 29, 2025 at 2:30 PM with Glover Funeral Home directing.

Shelley was born in Dothan, Alabama, to Shelley Enfinger and Mary Alice Enfinger.He led a life marked by strength, determination, and unwavering love to his family and friends.

As a child, Shelley developed a love for baseball, playing for the Boys Club and cherishing time spent with his beloved “Mama Smith” and his family. He attended Rehobeth High School.

Shelley worked for 37 years at Michelin, where his dedication and leadership left a lasting impact. Beyond his career, Shelley’s passions included cheering for Alabama football, playing golf, and dominating a game of dominos. He found joy in starting his mornings with breakfast at Ray’s, playing softball with friends at South Lena Street Baptist Church, and most of all, spending time with his cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Shelley was a steadfast father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose strength and resolve served as an example to everyone around him.

Shelley is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 50 years, Betty Enfinger, and his sister, Gayle Cook.

Shelley is survived by his daughters, Meichelle Adams (Robby) and Mary Alice Tyson (Chad); his son, Robby Enfinger (Elizabeth); his grandchildren: Claire Skipper (Wade), Madison Talton (Evan), Lauren Downey (Spencer), Coleman Adams, Spencer Adams, Emma Tyson, Skyler Adams, Isabella Adams, and Evelyn Enfinger; and his great-grandchildren: Ava Caroline Skipper, Watson Skipper, and Everett Talton. Shelley’s family meant the world to him, and his legacy of love and strength will live on in their hearts.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. McAllister and the nurses at Dothan Hematology & Oncology for the exceptional care Shelley received over the past two years.

Shelley Enfinger, Jr., will be remembered for his unyielding love and the joy he brought to all who knew him. His memory will be honored and cherished forever by his family and friends.

ABBEVILLE… Charles Tyrone Boatwright, a resident of Abbeville, Alabama, passed away Sunday morning, January 26, 2025, at his home. He was 73.

Memorial services will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday, January 31, 2025, at Wright Funeral Home & Crematory Chapel with Pastor Jamie Danzey officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Wright Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Boatwright was born in Henry County, Alabama to the late Charlie Boatwright and Ina Hamilton Boatwright. He was a 1969 graduate of the Henry County Training School. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He worked at West Point-Pepperell when he returned from the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the Mary Magdalene Baptist Church in Abbeville, Alabama.

Leaving to cherish his memories is his nephews, Allen Ray, Jr., John Boatwright, Douglas Boatwright and Jackie Martin; his niece, Paula Boatwright Johnson; his special cousins, Ann Davis, Mary Oates, Jennifer Davis King, and Leonard Davis; his aunt, Ottie Hamilton; his host of relatives and friends; and his caregivers, Geniva Smith, and Derrick Crawford.

Donald Joe Miller

Donald Joe Miller, affectionately known as Don to his friends and loved ones, passed away on January 25, 2025, at his home in Dothan, Alabama. Born on October 8, 1957, in Oklahoma, Don’s journey through life was marked by his selfless nature, creative spirit, and loving heart.

Don’s early years were spent in Louisiana, where he was raised by his late parents, Myron and Betty Lou Miller. After graduating from Spring Hill High School in 1975, he went on to pursue higher education at University of Louisiana Monroe, where his passion for science led him to obtain a Master’s degree in Chemistry. His academic achievements set the stage for a fulfilling career that began at Great Southern in 1985 and continued at GA Pacific. Don dedicated over three decades of his life to his work at the paper mill before retiring in 2019, leaving behind a legacy of diligence and commitment.

In 1987, Don’s life was enriched when he married his beloved wife, Rebecca Fontenot Miller. Together, they created a warm and welcoming home, filled with love and laughter, and shared with their cherished fur baby, Logan. Don’s family was the cornerstone of his life, and he was a devoted husband, brother, and uncle. He is survived by his wife, Rebecca, his brothers, Larry Miller and his wife Linda, Wayne Miller and his wife Cathy, Mark Miller and his wife Michelle, and a host of adoring nieces and nephews who will miss his presence deeply.

Don’s interests were as varied as they were passionate. He was an avid collector of records, marbles, and baseball cards, finding joy in the pursuit of rare and meaningful pieces. His love for science fiction and marble shows was well-known, and his marble collection was a testament to his enthusiasm for collectibles. Don was also a fan of comic books and went on to be part owner of Heroes for Hire, and he often shared his love for these stories with those around him, inspiring imagination and wonder. He also owned Popular Head Collectable online store where he and his wife sold their beloved trinkets and collectors items.

Those who knew Don will remember him as a man who lived by example. His selfless acts of kindness, whether big or small, touched the lives of many. His creative mind was always dreaming up new ideas, and his loving nature made him a friend to all. Don’s absence will be profoundly felt, but his influence will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved him.

A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered. Don Miller was a man of many facets, each shining brightly and leaving an indelible mark on the world. As we say goodbye, we celebrate the time we were privileged to share with him and the countless ways he enriched our lives. Don’s story is one of love, laughter, and a life well-lived, and he will be forever cherished in our memories.

A private family memorial service will be held to honor Don’s life. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the charity of your choice in Don’s honor.

HEADLAND…Ms. Nina Joyce Smith Wilcox, age 81, of Headland, Alabama passed away Sunday, January 26, 2025 at Wiregrass Nursing Home in Geneva.

Graveside services for Ms. Nina Joyce Smith Wilcox will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday, January 29, 2025 in Peaceful Acres Memorial Gardens. Mark Wilcox will be officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Gentiva Hospice of Enterprise or the activities program at Wiregrass Nursing Home in Geneva.

Nina was a talented seamstress and cook; she enjoyed serving others. She was a member of Headland United Methodist Church.

Ms. Wilcox is survived by her son, Mark Wilcox & wife, Heather; daughter, Delynne Wilcox; sister, Susan Sumblin & husband, Tim; granddaughter, Shelli Solomon & husband, Carey; great-granddaughter, Elli Solomon; and numerous special nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Howard Smith, Sr.; mother, Irone Boutwell Sumblin; step-father, Tolbert Sumblin; and brother, Howard Smith, Jr. & his wife, Saundra.
