Rhonda Kay Higgins, a resident of Edison, Georgia died Friday, March 28, 2025 at Southeast Health Medical Center. She was 54.
Rhonda was born January 17, 1971 in Orange County, California to the late David Samuel Higgins, Sr. and Wanda Faye Cannon Higgins. She was raised in Phenix City, Alabama and later moved to Edison, Georgia.
Rhonda is preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her daughters, Carolyn Faye Higgins (Jacob Olive), Chasity Higgins, siblings, Bobbie Lee Higgins, Cathy Ledbetter (Darby), David Higgins, Jr (Crystal) Daniel Higgins (Danielle), Devin Payne (Nikki), Ricky and Jason Linn.
Mrs. Joyce Bass Gainous, age 92, a resident of Dothan, died on Saturday March 29, 2025, at Wesley Place in Dothan.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday April 2, 2025, at Memory Hill Cemetery with Reverend’s Paul Edenfield and Billy Rich officiating and Glover Funeral Home directing.
The family will visit with friends following services at the cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made to church or charity of one’s choice.
Mrs. Gainous was born on November 1, 1932, in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, the daughter of Harold Linwood Bass and Ruby Maxine Wester Bass. Her early years were spent in North Carolina, later moving to Orlando, Florida then to Dothan, Alabama in 1973. Mrs. Gainous was a 1950 Graduate of Benvenue High School in North Carolina and attended BBI in Graceville for two years. She worked as a Head Teller and retired with Wells Fargo. Mrs. Gainous was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Dothan.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Gainous, Sr.; son-in-law, Danny Parris and daughter-in-law, Patti Gainous.
Survivors include: two daughters, Susan Hicks (Steve), Dothan; Pamela Parris, Huntsville; a son, Robbie Gainous, Dothan; 4 grandchildren, Joshua S. Parris (Priscilla), Huntsville; Dr. Jamison Hicks (Jessica), Dothan; Whitney Parris, Ozark and Addison Colby Gainous, Dothan; 4 great-grandchildren and extended family members in North Carolina.
Pallbearers will be: Steven Hicks, Joshua Parris, Dr. Jamison Hicks, and Addison Colby Gainous.

Brian Scott Fleischer, 57, of Dothan, Alabama, formerly of Ormond Beach, Florida, entered into his eternal rest on March 12, 2025. He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Elbert Warren and Margie Warren, paternal grandparents, Robert Fleischer and Jean Goble, his mother, Nona Gray and his brother, Shon Hentschel. He is survived by his daughter, Jordan, her spouse, Ryan of Hackleburg, AL, their children, Jon Ross, Stetson and Rylynn; his son, Luke, and daughter, Madison, of Ormond Beach, FL, his father, Bob, stepmother, Linda, brothers, Jon Fleischer, Joshua Fleischer and Judson Hentschel, his sister, Karen Akins, nephew, Cadence Fleischer, and many more extended family members. The family wishes to thank the employees of Cummings Signs, Dothan, AL, for the friendship and support they showed him while he was employed there. He is at peace now.
Ms. Mary Alice Love, age 94, a resident of Graceville, Florida passed away March 29, 2025 at Graceville Health Center.
Graveside Services will be held at a later date.
Ms. Mary was born in Houston County to Alto “Pal” Love and Ruby Burdenshaw on October 9, 1930. She attended Cottonwood High School and later obtained a Licensed Practical Nurse degree from Wallace College. Ms. Mary worked at Flowers Hospital and retired after forty years of service.
Ms. Mary is preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Thomas “Earl” Love
Survivors include her sister-in-law, Lois Love; a special niece, Leticia Varnum (Matt); a special nephew, Ashley Love; along with numerous other nieces and nephews.

ECHO COMMUNITY…Mrs. Nina Lewis Newman, a resident of the Echo Community, died late Friday morning, March 28, 2025, in Dale Medical Center. She was 80.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, April 1, 2025, in Echo Methodist Church Cemetery with Reverend Phil Craddock officiating. The family will receive friends following the graveside service. Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Newman, daughter of the late Reverend John Inge Lewis and Myrtle Verneuille Lewis, was a native of Mobile, Alabama. The family moved to Echo in 1960 when her father was called to preach at Echo United Methodist Church. She was a graduate of Dale County High School and was retired from Wal Mart in Ozark after fifteen years of employment. Mrs. Newman was a member of the Echo Methodist Church. She will always be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Mrs. Newman was preceded in death by a son, Harold Newman, son-in-law, Danny Senn, sister, Lorraine Brown, and brothers, Lynwood Lewis, John Lewis, and Victor Lewis.
Surviving relatives include her husband of sixty years, Lamar Newman, Echo; her children, Margaret Palmore (Daniel Flores), Skipperville, Herschel Newman (Heather), Clopton, and Kimberly Newman, Newton; six sisters, Debbie Barber (Tony), Harriet Simmons (Lamar), Tiny Steele (Duval), all of Bayou La Batre, Alabama, Linda Vaughn, Nelda Brown, both of Mobile, and Marlene Walsingham, Atlanta; six grandchildren, Lee O’Quinn(Angie), Chris O’Quinn (Kim), Shelbie Turner (Chris), Lacey Norsworthy (James), Bridget Newman, and Trevor Senn; six great-grandchildren, Christina O’Quinn, Aubrey O’Quinn, Emily O’Quinn, Jason Turner, Alice Turner, and Waylon Norsworthy.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Herschel Newman, Daniel Flores, James Norsworthy, Chris Turner, Brandon Moore, and Rob Dasinger.
