 Martha Ann Anglin, a resident of Pansey, Alabama died Friday, December 20, 2024 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was 87.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1PM, Saturday, December 28, 2024, in Clearman Chapel at Southern Heritage Funeral Home.

Martha Ann was born in Arkansas to the late Clyde and Geraldine Potter Weatherly. After moving to the Wiregrass Area later in life she began a career in the banking industry where she retired after twenty-two years at the bank in Ashford, Alabama. Her hobbies included reading, quilting, and picking up pecans. She was a loving wife of fifty-two years to Murray Anglin, along with being a loving grandmother, great grandmother, and sister. She will be dearly missed by all who loved and knew her.

She was preceded in death by her husband; two brothers, John Weatherly, and Jerry Weatherly; two sisters, Marietta Powers, and Jewel Dean Weatherly.

Left to cherish her memories are her grandchildren, Kim Moore (James), and Todd Anglin (Tammy); a brother, Thomas Weatherly; a sister, Nancy Gragson; four great grandchildren, Lori Moore, Leslie Jones (Chris), Anissa Anglin, and Jozeph Anglin; three great great grandchildren; a special niece Linda Clemons (Beecher); along with numerous other nieces, nephews, and many friends.

ASHFORD… Phillip Earl “Phil” Carter, a resident of Ashford, Alabama, passed away Friday night, December 20, 2024, at a Dothan hospital. He was 64.

          A memorial gathering will be held from 5:00 until 6:00 P.M. on Monday, December 23, 2024, at Wright Funeral Home & Crematory Chapel. Wright Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.

          Mr. Carter was born in Haleburg, Alabama to the late Oscar Barnes Carter and Emma Roberson Carter. He was a 1978 graduate of Houston County High School. He was most recently employed with Southeast Gas. He was formerly employed at Moseley Farms, Wex-Tex in Ashford, and the City of Cowarts. He was an avid Alabama fan.

          Leaving to cherish his memories is his wife, Martha Ann Ingram Carter; his daughters, Sunshine Killingsworth (Raymond) and Tina Garrett; his son, Timothy Carter (Jill); his sister, Marie Carter; his grandchildren, Garrett, Savannah, Angel, Eden, Raygan, Cody, and Jacey; his great-grandchildren, Elliot, Juniper, and Brooks; his aunt, Ann Williams; his nephew, Josh Wofford; his special friends, Mark Ingram, Janet Dawkins, and Jackie Kirkland; and several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and cousins.

ABBEVILLE. . .Mildred Howerton Helton, a resident of Abbeville, died Friday afternoon, December 20, 2024, in a Dothan hospital. She was 99.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, December 23, 2024, in the Judson Baptist Church with Reverend Randy Stokes and Reverend Brandon Turner officiating and eulogies to be given by Kristie Hughes and Valarie Palmer. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Monday in the church sanctuary. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Helton was a lifelong resident of the Screamer community of Henry County, daughter of the late James Murphy Howerton and Addie Pastoria Palmer Howerton. She was a member of Judson Baptist Church. Mrs. Helton was a master gardener and contributed plants to Dothan Botanical Gardens. She was retired from WestPoint Pepperell as a Sewing Machine Operator. Mrs. Helton was preceded in death by her husband, Reverend John W. Helton, Jr., son-in-law, Joel Edward Money, sisters, Janie Mae Joiner and Alice Griffith, and brothers, Jack Howerton, Murphy Howerton, Jody Howerton and Major Howerton,
Surviving relatives include her daughter, Faye Helton Money, Abbeville; sisters, Annette Harpe of Alaska, and Betty Watson of Florida; grandchildren, Tim Palmer (Audrey) and Kristie H. Hughes (Joey); great-grandchildren, Cortney Palmer, Elizabeth Palmer, Valarie Palmer and Jonah Hughes; great-great-grandchildren, Serrina Cruz, Arriana Cruz, Viktor Allen, Gabe Allen and Rilynn Miles; numerous nieces and nephews.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Valarie Palmer, Elizabeth Palmer, Jonah Hughes, Joey Hughes, Tommy Palmer and Stokes Moring.

David LaVaughn Herriage, Sr.

HEADLAND. . .David LaVaughn Herriage, Sr., (Sergeant First Class, U. S. Army, Retired), a former resident of Headland, died late Tuesday night, December 17, 2024, in Westside Terrace Healthcare in Dothan. He was 86.
There are no memorial or funeral services planned at this time. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans Chapter 87, 301 West Lafayette Street, Dothan, AL 36301.
Mr. Herriage was born and reared in Emory, Texas, son of the late Doctor Kimbrough Herriage and Annie Louise Davis Herriage. He enlisted in the U. S. Army in 1955 and served his country twenty-three years, retiring with rank of Sergeant First Class. While serving in the Army, Mr. Herriage served two tours of duty in the Vietnam War and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal (2D OLC), Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry W/Palm, and the Combat Infantryman Badge.
Mr. Herriage was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Brannon Herriage, three sisters and three brothers.
Surviving relatives include a daughter, Teresa Herriage Bills, Arlington, VA; a son, David L. Herriage, Jr. (Megan), Rowlett, TX; a step-daughter, Linda Floyd, Abbeville; grandchildren, James Coddington (Marisa), Corinne Mitchell and Christopher Herriage; two step-grandchildren, Joey Floyd and Becky Floyd and four great-grandchildren.

James Morrell age 66 of Dothan passed away Tuesday, December 17, 2024 at Southeast Health.  A Celebration of Life service will be held Friday, December 20, 2024, 11am  at Fowler Family Funeral Home (965 Woodland Drive, Dothan.Al) with Pastor Jason Johnson officiating.  The family will receive friends beginning at 10am.  

James was born February 22, 1958 in Headland, Al to Jesse James and Lillie Mae Broxton Morrell.  He worked in the construction business.   He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, watching Western movies, Alabama football, fishing, looking for arrowheads and country music.  

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers Jack Morrell, James Preston Morrell, Corey Ray Morrell; sisters Frances Morrell, Nellie Ruth Bowman; nephew James “little” Ray Kelly; sister in law Margie Morrell; Brenda Ethridge companion and close friend. Survivors include his sons Shawn Morrell, Brayden Morrell; daughters Rachel Morrell, Jamie Morrell Shoaf, Lillian Morrell; grandchildren Haley Morrell, Onikah Raylynn Morrell, Zaelynn May Morrell, Everett Brooklynn Morrell; four great grandchildren; sisters Betty Jean Davis, Emma Lou Woods, Annie Louise Peterman, Sandra Mae Henderson; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

OZARK…Mr. James Thompson (Sergeant Major, Untied States Army, Retired), a resident of
Ozark, died Tuesday evening, December 17, 2024, at the home of his son in Enterprise. He was
86.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday, December 20, 2024, in the Fuqua
Bankston Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Dr. Tim Bates officiating. Graveside services,
with full military honors, will follow in Southside Baptist Church Cemetery. Fuqua Bankston
Funeral Home of Ozark is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 12:00
until 1:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home.
Mr. Thompson, son of the late Abraham Lincoln Thompson and Stella Mae Fuqua
Thompson, was a native of Escambia County, Alabama and was a graduate of W.S. Neal High
School. He attended college in El Paso, Texas for one year while in the United States Army in

  1. Mr. Thompson retired from the United States Army after serving twenty-five years.
    Following his retirement from the military, he and a friend operated a home remodeling business.
    Some of his favorite things included fishing with his friend, Mac, travelling, Auburn Football,
    and most of all his grandchildren. Mr. Thompson was a member of Southside Baptist Church in
    Ozark. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan Madeline Leonard Thompson and his brother,
    Jimmy Ray Thompson.
    Surviving relatives include his sons, Jim Thompson (Jan), Cullman, Richard Thompson,
    Danny Thompson, John Thompson, all of Dothan, and David Thompson (Stephanie), Enterprise;
    four grandchildren, Mirna Thompson, Amadeua Thompson, Brenda Thompson, and Matthew
    Hood.
