Jack Pierce, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on March 17, 2025, in Midland City, Alabama. Born on February 9, 1939, Jack’s life was marked by his loving nature, his passion for life, and his handyman skills that could fix just about anything.
Jack was a man who knew the value of hard work and commitment. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Pierce and Robbie Bass; his sister, Inez Newman; and his brother, Ray Pierce. His memory will be carried on by his loving wife of 65 years, Jewel Pierce, who was his partner in life’s journey and his rock. Together, they raised a family that includes their son, Dennis Pierce (Milinda), and daughter, Kathy Pierce. Jack was a proud grandfather to Sherri Hunt (Jeremy) and Wendi Rogel (Hector), and he cherished his role as a great-grandfather to Camille, Casper, Bentley, Brantley, and Wesley. He is also survived by his sisters, Peggy Vinson and Patsy Kosko; special cousin, Ronald Bullock (Jetta); and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members who will miss him dearly.
A Graveside Service will be held at 10:00a.m. on Wednesday, March 19, 2025 at Memory Hill Cemetery, with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing.
Those who knew Jack understood his love for life’s simple pleasures. He was an avid fisherman, and there was nothing he enjoyed more than a day out on the water, waiting for the next big catch. Jack was also known for his love of riding motorcycles, feeling the wind on his face as he took on new adventures. A member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, he walked his faith as he did every day, with steadfast devotion.
Jack’s interests were as varied as they were heartfelt. He could often be found fixing something that needed repair, watching his favorite westerns, or enjoying a cup of coffee. His fish fries were legendary, and he took great joy in putting up the train around the Christmas tree for his grandchildren. Each year, he would lift a granddaughter to place the star atop the tree, a tradition that would be passed down to his great-grandchildren. Games of dominos, checkers, and tic tac toe were frequent pastimes, filled with laughter and love.
Jack’s life was a testament to the power of love and family. He was a pillar of strength, a source of wisdom, and a beacon of joy. His passing leaves a void that will be felt by all who were fortunate enough to know him. Yet, his spirit will continue to live on in the cherished memories he created with his loved ones.
