Minister John Paul McGlon, 66, of Dothan, Alabama, entered into eternal rest on April 26, 2026. Born on November 21, 1959, he was the beloved son of the late Annie Joyce Dozier McGlon and John Robert McGlon.
John was preceded in death by his loving wife, Joyce McGlon, and his son Nicholas Hamilton. He was also preceded in death by all of his siblings: Peggie Oliver, John Robert McGlon, and Roger Dozier, as well as his nephew, Jerry Oliver. Though they transitioned before him, their memories remained deeply rooted in his heart.
Though he experienced great loss with the passing of his parents and siblings, John carried their memories with strength and grace. He poured love into his nieces and nephews, each of whom he treated with pride, humor, and affection. To them, he was more than an uncle—he was a protector, a guide, and a steady presence.
Family was at the center of John’s heart. He cherished his daughters, Jazz and Jessica, and held the memories of his son—Nicholas. His grandchildren, Amira and Nahzeem, brought him joy that lit up his face. John also leaves behind his special friends, Freda Franklin and Judy McGlon.
John’s love extended to a host of nieces and nephews who held a special place in his life: Shawn Oliver, Jarrod Dozier (Leslie), Juan Oliver (Princess), Tim Bryant (Lashawnda), Kuame McGlon (Jametris), Nequesha Jones (Jason), Zekia Warren-Oliver (Alexander), Kimberly Oliver, and Zamyah Oliver (Zaya).
John’s love for basketball began at Headland High School, where he became known not only for his athletic ability but for his discipline and drive. Those same qualities guided him into the United States Army, where he proudly served his country from 1978 to 1989. His years in service strengthened his character and deepened his commitment to leadership and responsibility.
Minister John Paul McGlon lived a life marked by strength, faith, and unwavering purpose. From his early years, John carried a quiet determination that shaped every chapter of his journey. Growing up in a loving family, he learned the values of loyalty, resilience, and compassion—qualities that would define him as a man, a father, a soldier, and a servant of God.
John’s spiritual walk became the foundation of his life. He attended Global World Fellowship Inc. under the leadership of Bishop Frank T. Bozeman, where his calling grew stronger. Under the mentorship of Apostle Purbis McMillan of Atmore, Alabama, John embraced his divine assignment and stepped boldly into ministry. When he later moved to Dothan, he established Christ Kingdom Church, fulfilling his purpose as a teacher, shepherd, and spiritual father to many. His ministry touched countless lives through his preaching, counsel, and genuine love for people.
John will be remembered for his bold faith, his laughter, his wisdom, and his ability to make others feel valued. He lived with purpose, served with humility, and loved with a full heart. His legacy continues in the lives he touched, the ministry he built, and the family who will forever carry his name with honor.
