Mission Day this coming Tuesday September 23rd at Dothan HS from 08:15 to 3:00 in the Convocation Center. Mission Day is hosted by the Alabama Army National Guard. Two high schools from each state are selected by the National Guard Bureau. Dothan HS was one of the two High Schools selected for Alabama where they led the entire state of Alabama for military high school enlistments. There will be hands on activities, simulators, virtual reality, etc. that are relatable to the work force and careers. It’s a huge event and rare opportunity! I really want this shown to the public to show how much Dothan High School faculty, staff, and students have done to bring stuff like this to the community. See you tomorrow!

HAMMOND LA: Alabama native tapped as inaugural president of national faith-based organization focused on voting rights, economic justice and equality for all Americans
A longtime grass-roots community activist was selected to lead a new national faith-based civil and human rights coalition.
The Rev. Kenneth Sharpton Glasgow, an Alabama native, was tapped to lead the New National Christian Leadership Movement. The organization is a coalition of grass roots faith-based groups, churches, civil and human rights activists.
Glasgow officially assumed his leadership position during an installation ceremony Thursday in Hammond, Louisiana.
Glasgow is already a familiar name and working hand within communities. He is the founder of The Ordinary People Society. It advocates for people who are affected by addiction, drug sales and incarceration.
Glasgow was led to create the organization in 2001 with a goal of restoring those most harmed through organizing and spirituality.
Likewise, the New National Christian Leadership Movement is committed to the traditional principles of using non-violence to advance voting rights, freedom, economic justice and equality for all people.
“We are all gathered to continue the legacy of pushing to create a society that respects all of God’s children and policies that protect their humanity and dignity,” Glasgow said. “As a child growing up in south Alabama, I never imagined that God would lead me to this point in life where I would sit as the head of an organization such as this. I am truly humbled and appreciate the responsibility that comes with it.”
The New National Christian Leadership Movement will celebrate and build on the successes of our forefathers and legacy organizations who labored and sacrificed to deliver the promise of equality and freedom to all Americans, regardless of race, creed, color or station in life.
Acdording to its charter,the New National Christian Leadership Movement is vehemently opposed to federal takeover of cities, immigrant deportation, racially motivated re-districting and gerrymandering.
“As a new organization, we will also tackle contemporary issues that are unique to our time and harness the power of modern tools available to us,” Glasgow said.“We will carry the mantle.”
“Dr. Martin Luther King stood at the Lincoln Memorial during the March on Washington and made the same declaration that we make today,” Glasgow said. “Standing on those marble steps, he said, ‘Now is the time to make real the promises of democracy.’ And he went on to declare. ‘Now is the time to make justice a reality for all of God’s children.’
“These words are just as relevant today as they were 62 years ago,” Glasgow said. “This is our vision and this our mandate. We invite everyone of good will to stand and to work with us.”
FOLEY AL: This morning while riding down the road all of a sudden I opened the camera and asked Dalton and Mac their opinions on Charlie Kirk. This was done without warning or rehearsal.
Dalton and Mac are from Covington Tennessee and moved to Foley about 3 years ago. Dalton keeps up with politics and is always watching the news on his phone.
RSN wanted to see their thoughts and feelings about the assination of Charlie Kirk, the person arrested, and how Republicans and Democrats handle tragic issues.
There is no viable or reasonable answer or explanation for the assination of Charlie Kirk. A man that was willing to debate issues, most especially to young peolple. Charlie Kirk believed that people needed to discuss thier thoughts, debate those thoughts, listening to each other. The only way to survive is to have open dialogue.
PIKE COUNTY: 5:20 AM Early this morning a vehicle accident in the Springhill Community in Pike County claimed the lives of two precious children.
According to ALEA – Troopers a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado truck and a 2018 Nissan Kick collided. A 16 year old is reported to have been driving the Chevrolet truck. A 2 year old and 5 year old child were killed in the 2018 Nissan Kick.
The driver of the 2018 Nissan Kick, Charles R. Holmes, Jr. , age 37 of Geneva, was injured and transported by Haynes AMbulance to Troy Regional Medical Center. Also in the Nissan Kick a 6 year old and 10 year were injured and transported to Troy Regional Medical Center.
The accident was on ALabama 167 near the 49 mile marker south of Troy.
ALEA Troopers are in charge of the accdient investigation.
DALE COUNTY: 10:29 AM Ozark – Dale County 911 dispatched Dale County Sheriff Department, ALEA – Troopers, Ozark Fire – Rescue to a motor vehicle accident with injuries.
The accident location is 7154 S. Highway 231, Rest Area at Ozark. Reports to Ozark – Dale County 911 there are four vehicles involved in the accident and possible entrappment.
Emergency units are rolling and arriving on the scene.
ALEA – Troopers will be in charge of the investigation.
