REHOBETH: This American Fishing Tour National Championship was fished in by our very own Rehobeth’s Colton Trotter.
A 2025 graduate of Rehobeth High School, who is now in college at Troy University, Colton is an avid bass fisherman. He was in the Rehobeth High School Bass Club and very competitive in the bass fishing circuit.
Colton Trotter, age 18, is the son of Kimberly and Lucas Trotter of Rehobeth.
Colton was sitting in the lead going into day 2 of the ABA National Championship on Lake Eufaula. He ended with 21.07 pounds, attributing his mom’s birthday to his good luck. Colton was followed by Jim A. Boyle in second place with 19.85 pounds and third place Randall T. Hutcherson at 17.08 pounds.
Colton Trotter was sitting at a total of 39.60 pounds from day 1 and day 2 as he entered Friday, day 3, the final day of the tour. A prize of $ 10,000.00 was on the line for day 3 of the tour. And he finished on day 3 with first place, with 57.88 pounds, in the ABA National Championship, Lake Eufaula Alabama.
After this three day tournament, Colton drove all night to Arkansas, 8 hours or so, for another bass tournament. He was on the water at 7 AM this morning. This was as a member of the Troy University Bass Team. Colton’s parents split and one goes with each son. Colton’s mom, Kimberly, went with Colton to Arkansas while Easton’s dad, Lucas traveled with him.

Eufaula, AL – American Bass Anglers held the 2025 American Fishing Tour National Championship held on the legendary Lake Walter F. George, widely known as Lake Eufaula, with tournament headquarters in Eufaula, Alabama. The championship week October 4–10, 2025. It brough together the top 500 qualifying anglers from across the nation to compete in one of the most prestigious events in grassroots bass fishing.
Often referred to as the “Bass Fishing Capital of the World,” Lake Eufaula offers an ideal setting for this premier national championship. In partnership with the Eufaula/Barbour County Chamber of Commerce, American Bass Anglers will delivered a week-long celebration of competitive fishing, community engagement, and southern hospitality in one of the Southeast’s most iconic fishing destinations.
The event will kicked off with official practice days beginning October 4, leading into the Directors Dinner on Monday, October 6, and the official registration and safety briefing with a welcome dinner on Tuesday, October 7. Three full days of tournament fishing will follow, with daily weigh-ins open to the public and culminating in a championship awards banquet on Friday evening, October 10.
“Lake Eufaula has been a historic stop for tournament bass fishing for decades,” said Morris Sheehan, President of American Bass Anglers. “It’s a natural fit for our national championship. The fishing is world-class, the facilities are outstanding, and the support from the local community has been tremendous. We’re looking forward to bringing our anglers back to such a legendary venue.”
The championship will be operated out of a launch facility large enough to accommodate the 250-boat field, with security and event staff on hand throughout the week. ABA will promote the event and the host community through national advertising campaigns, social media, ABA Magazine, and dedicated tournament coverage across its digital platforms.
In addition to high-level competition, anglers and their families will experience the charm of historic downtown Eufaula, explore the scenic waters of the Chattahoochee River, and enjoy the area’s rich heritage, dining, and outdoor attractions. The community will also host various tournament-related events throughout the week, creating an unforgettable experience for competitors and visitors alike.

DOTHAN: 12:07 PM Dothan 911 dispatched Dothan Fire Engine Companies to 3300 Candlewood Drive to reports of a structure fire. Reports to Dothan 911 smoke visible in bedroom near the carport.
Multiple Dothan Fire Engine Companies, Dothan Police and Pilcher Ambulance responded.
On arrival of Dothan Fire Deputy Chief Pete Webb nothing visible, investigating. Dothan Fire Engine Company determined the fire was in a garbage can, which has been extinguished and removed from the residence. There were no fire extensions and all under control.
All Dothan Fire Engines and Pilcher Ambulance released from the call.
MOBILE BUT FROM DOTHAN: Raised in Dothan Alabama, a graduate from Dothan City Schools, is now Mayor-Elect of Mobile Alabama.
Dothan’s own Spiro Cheriogotis was recently elected as Mayor of Mobile Alabama. His family owned and operated Vend Serve during his years growing up in Dothan. His dad, now deceased, opened and operated Three Little Pigs in Dothan.
Spiro Cheriogotis went onto Mobile, has a sucessful law practice and served as District Court Judge in Mobile. He resigned the judgeship prior ro seeking election was Mayor.
Spiro Cheriogotis is the mayor-elect of Mobile, Alabama, following his victory in the September 2025 runoff election. His career history includes service as a prosecutor and district judge before entering the mayoral race.
Political career
Mobile mayoral election: Cheriogotis won the election by defeating State Representative Barbara Drummond with 51.4% of the vote. He is scheduled to take office in early November 2025, succeeding outgoing three-term Mayor Sandy Stimson.
Campaign platform: Throughout his mayoral campaign, Cheriogotis focused on continuing Stimson’s legacy and addressing key issues for Mobile residents. He specifically highlighted goals related to increasing affordable housing and improving public safety.

Mobile County District Court Judge: Before his mayoral run, Cheriogotis served for six years as a Mobile County District Court Judge.
