DOTHAN: 6:43 PM Dothan 911 dispatched Dothan Fire, Dothan Police and Pilcher Ambulance to a vehicle verses a pedestrian accident on Ross Clark Circle and Third Avenue. Reports to Dothan 911 a subject was laying in the roadway.
On arrival of Dothan Fire Engine Company 4 ( Southside ) they found the subject in the roadway. The injuries were reported as critical. The patient was transported, emergency, trauma alert to Southeast Health.
Dothan Fire CRASH Team will be in charge of the investigation.
COTTONWOOD: On January 9, 2024 a tornado struck the Town of Cottonwood. The tornado destroyed almost everything in it’s pathway.
The Town of Cottonwood Fire Station and Senior Citizens Building were two structures destroyed.
Cottonwood Volunteer Fire Chief Randy Hall left his job where he makes his living and took off to Cottonwood. He slept in the mobile command post and stayed around the clock making sure the residents of Cottonwood’s needs were met.
Cottonwood Mayor James Coachman and former Cottonwood Mayor Ken Hamilton and others local and county began making contact with people. FEMA came and gave excuses only.
But ADECA Director Kenneth Boswell, Alabama State Representative Paul Lee, Alabama State Senator Donnie Chesteen, Alabama Governor Kay Ivey were dedicated to helping Cottonwood.
Many volunteers, Dothan Fire Department, ALEA – Troopers, Cottonwood Rescue, Houston County Sheriff Department, Houston County Road and Bridge and others, to many to name all came to the aid of Cottonwood.
With funding secured by ADECA, Rep.Paul Lee and Senator Donnie Chesteen, Cottonwood Volunteer Fire Chief Randy Hall, past and present Cottonwood Mayors and Council Members, members of Cottonwood Volunteer Fire Department, the new station was planned, plans drawn, contracts let and is now in service and ready.
The station was built with the state funding.
There was a pole barn building constructed in the back to hold additional equipment and supplies. The station was constructed with the future in mind and to allow room for growth. A generator was installed to allow the station to operate when power is out. And Chief Randy Hall made sure the station contained hisotry.
On the back of the building some bricks are in place that came from the old station. And in the station you will find equipment displayed from years of yesterday such as ladders, axes, lights and siren.
The citizens of Cottonwood can be proud of every man and woman involved and the work they contrubuted. And thanks to the elected public servants that played a hand in making this a reality.
Chief Hall also made sure there was a place for Houston County Sheriff Deputies, Cottonwood Police or ALEA if they needed to utilize the offices for an investigation they were conducting or a restroom when on active patrol. All future needs they tried to think of.
In closing, the residents of Cottonwood Alabama need to know just how much every man and woman who volunteers for Cottonwood Volunteer Fire Department loves every resident, guest and community. They give of their time, energy and money to serve. They also need to know just how much Cottonwood Alabama, the people and guests mean to Cottonwood Volunteer Fire Chief Randy Hall. He stayed all through the devestation on January 9, 2024. Chief Hall has worked tireless in making sure everything has remained in place and ready to respond to serve the citizens and guests of Cottonwood. Randy Hall is a man who remembers his roots and the foundation provided to him as a child growing up in Cottonwood.
And while he no longer holds a public office but does volunteer with the Cottonwood Volunteer Fire Department, former Cottonwood Mayor Ken Hamilton has played a large role in helping Chief Hall make things happen.
Again, thanks to the current Mayor and Town Council, former Mayor and Town Council members, to Paul Lee, Donnie Chesteen, Kenneth Boswell and Alabama Governor Kay Ivey.

Today marked the swearing in of a new Mayor for the City of Ozark. Charles Ward, retired Colonel of the Alabama Department of Public Safety, returning to Ozark as Chief of Police. Later the position was changed to Ozark Department of Public Safety where he oversaw both law enforcement and fire.
When election came around Charles Ward challenged incumbent Mayor Mark Blankenship. The registered voters of Ozark Alabama overwhelmingly elected Charles Ward as Mayor. Today, in a filled to capacity room, Charles Ward took the Oath of Office to become Mayor of Ozark.
The other members elected to the Ozark City Council were sworn into office following Charles Ward taking the oath.
There was great excitement in the room this morning as new faces will now lead Ozark Alabama into the future.
TAYLOR: This morning at 8 AM Taylor Municipal Judge Farrest Taylor administered the Oath Of Office to a new Mayor for Taylor and two new Taylor City Councilman.
The former Code Enforcement Officer, Robert Lamb, ran for Mayor of Taylor and was elected. Robert Lamb took the Oath of Office and became Mayor.
The incumbent Mayor of 8 years, Billy Snell, did not seek re-election.
Judge Taylor administered the Oath of Office to Jerry Kelly as a City Councilman.
Judge Taylor administered the Oath of Office to Aubrana Peterman as a City Councilman.
At the Town Council Meeting the new Mayor will administer the oath to the council members who were already serving as Councilman and are returning to office.
Following the Oath RSN asked Mayor Lamb was he going to swear in the police officers. He said that he would do that on Wednesday. The Magistrate, Ann Baxter, asked the Mayor were they going to do it in here or her office. That was about some other business. The Taylor Police Chief, James Brazier, had walked outside and they sent after him.
Instead of staying in the council meeting room Mayor Lamb, the police officer, Chief Brazier, City Prosecutor Gary Maxwell and Magistrate Ann Baxter went to the Magistrate Office.
RSN had heard rumors for weeks that Mayor Elect Robert Lamb did not like Police Chief James Brazier and planned to get rid of him. He had even asked now former Mayor Billy Snell to terminate Chief Brazier and now former Mayor Billy Snell said no, that Brazier was doing a good job and he has no reason to terminate Brazier as Chief of Police.
Well, the swearing in was at 8 AM and by 8:45 AM the new Mayor, Robert Lamb, had relieved Chief Brazier of his job as Police Chief and James Brazier came walking out of the building. RSN gave Brazier a ride home because he left walking.
Present for the swearing in ceremony was Tim Miller. The rumors for weeks were that Magistrate Ann Baxter and Mayor Elect Robert Lamb wanted Tim Miller back as a Taylor Police Officer and as Chief. Miller resigned in Taylor while under investigation about how a call was handled. He was a former Dothan Police Officer, former Ashford Police Officer, former Deputy Sheriff with Jackson County Sheriff Department and after Taylor is a police officer in Columbia.
James Brazier retired from Houston County Sheriff Department after 30 years with the department. Brazier retired at the rank of Commander over the Houston County Jail. Following his retirement Brazier went to work with Jackson County Sheriff Department for two years. After two years with Jackson County Sheriff Department Brazier left, in good standing, to take Chief of Police job with Taylor under then Mayor Billy Snell’s tenure.
The actions of Mayor Robert Lamb, within the first hour of taking the Oath of Office are not over. There are certian laws which protect Police Chief’s. However this falls at the beginning of a new administration. But the appointments or terminations must be approved by the City Council. Former Chief Brazier can appeal the actions of the new Mayor, Robert Lamb, to the Taylor City Council.
The working relationship between Mayor Robert Lamb and the Taylor City Council will be one of interest to watch. Sources have said that are alleged to have heard Mayor Lamb and Tim Miller refer to the council members as idiots and discussing intentions of attempting to force some council members from office.
While Chief Brazier is relieved of duties, and did not resign, if Brazier appeals the Taylor City Council has the authority to override his decision.

At the time of Dispatch, a female age 61 was to believe to have had a broken arm.
Houston County Sheriff deputies and Rehobeth Fire rescue are on the scene.
