DOTHAN: Dothan Police recently arrested a Jerry Lee Faine Elementary School teacher for Sexual Abuse of a child. More victims are coming forward.
Dothan Police were alerted to the sexual abuse allegations on May 8, 2026. During the course of the investigation Dothan Police found out the allegations were alleged to have been made in February and law enforcement were not notified until May 8, 2026.
Today two Dothan City School employees were arrested on Failure To Report The Sexual Abuse Allegations. The school is a mandatory reporter to law enforcement of sexual abuse allegations.
One of the Dothan City School emplyees arrested is the daughter of long time Dothan School Board Member Brenda Guilford.
(DOTHAN, Ala) As the investigation continues into allegations against Johnny Mark Dunaway, a former Jerry Lee Faine elementary teacher, investigators continue to process evidence and conduct interviews. As a result of the ongoing investigation, charges have now been filed against two school employees who received the complaints against Dunaway. Bertha Nicole Guilford, Title-IX Coordinator for Dothan City Schools and Sophia Lanette Hedrington, the interim principal at the time, have each been charged with one count of failure to comply with Alabama’s Mandatory Reporting law. Both individuals surrendered themselves to the Houston County jail where they were booked and released on a $1,000.00 bond each. This continues to be an ongoing and active investigation.

ALABAMA – HOUSTON COUNTY: For the second consecutive week your GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES will be off for a paid holiday.
Last week was a three day work week for Houston County employees and this week will be a three day work week. The Houston County Commissioners will have you believe they save money with four day work weeks.
The state employees normally work five days, and with the holiday will work four. But not Houston County employees, they will be closed Monday and Friday.
While Houston County Commission say they save money on a four day work week, it has never been proven. The public is suppose to listen to politicians and believe it.
