08:15 AM Three Vehicle Accident – Ashford

ASHFORD:   07:40 AM     Houston County 911 dispatched a three vehicle accident, Highway 84 East and First Avenue ( County Road 33 ) intersection in Ashford.

Ashford Police, Houston County Sheriff Deputies, Ashford Rescue and Ashford Volunteer Fire responded.

On arrival the emergency units found three vehicles involved. Two vehicle had major damage, one vehicle with minor damage. There were two patients on the scene that required EMS transport.

Two Patients were transported to Southeast Health by Ashford Rescue.

Knight’s Wrecker was on the scene and cleaned the wreckage. One vehicle, a Chevrolet Tahoe was able to be driven from the scene.

There was debris on top of the Audi ( Silver ) vehicle which came from the back bed of the pickup truck involved.

Ashford Police Chief Melvin Anderson and Larry Flowers were on the scene. Ashford Police is in charge of the accident investigation.

The third vehicle, the Chevrolet Tahoe driver was sitting in the median when the other vehicle struck the Tahoe following the accident. The driver was sitting still and the back of the Tahoe struck.

Slaughter cows 2 to 4 higher with bulls 5 to 10 higher. Replacement bred cows steady to firm on light supply again . Calves and feeder cattle steady to 5 higher with instances 15 to 20 higher !! The market looks to be on solid ground. All buyers still with good strong orders and needing cattle ! Fed Cattle in the West last week trading at 234 to 235 with Iowa to 248.50 ! on a very light trade.

7:35 PM Structure Fire in Cowarts

COWARTS:   5:37 PM    Houston County 911 dispatched a structure fire in the 5500 block of Highway 84 in Cowarts.  Reports to Houston County 911, a shed fire behind a residence near 5500 block. Shortly after dispatch Houston County 911 reported possibly occupied.

Cowarts Volunteer Fire, Ashford Volunteer Fire, Ashford Rescue and Houston County Sheriff Deputies rolled.

On arrival it was quickly determined the structure was not occupied. The structure was on the ground on arrival and engulfed in fire. Coming out East Main Street from Dothan the smoke could be seen in the air.

Volunteer Fireman jumped on the fire and prevented it from spreading anywhere, The structure, an old shed, was a total loss.
