COLUMBIA: 09:27 AM Houston County 911 dispatched Columbia Police and Columbia Fire-Rescue to reports of a critical injury wreck. The call came into Alabama Power dispatch who in turn called 911 that law enforcement and EMS was needed.
The accident was on North Davis Street, also known as Highway 95 North.
Alabama Power was parked on the side of North Davis Street working. A car, reported to be traveling about 40 miles per hour, struck the rear of the parked Alabama Power Company truck.
There was no ambulance available in Columbia so Ashford Rescue responded to the scene.
No one was transported, Columbia Police is in charge of the accident investigation.
A former Lee County teacher has turned herself in to authorities in connection with serious criminal allegations involving a minor.
According to law enforcement, the former educator is facing charges of child molestation and sexual assault. Officials confirmed that the woman voluntarily surrendered and is now in custody as the investigation continues.
At this time, limited details have been released due to the sensitive nature of the case and the involvement of a minor. Authorities say additional information will be made public as it becomes available.
Anyone with information related to this case is urged to contact local law enforcement.
HOUSTON COUNTY: The Houston County Commission will meet at 10:00 AM on Thursday for the Administrative Meeting. The meeting is in the Houston County Admininstrative Building in the 400 block of North Oates Street in Dothan.

HOUSTON COUNTY-MONTGOMERY: Alabama State Representative Paul Lee was elected House Majority Leader today by his fellow State Representatives.
Paul Lee has served in the Alabma Legislature since 2010. Representative Lee previously chaired the House Rules Committee of the Alabama Legslature.
The House Majority Leader is a key leadership position elected by the majority caucus which is currently Republicans. The leader direct’s the parties legislative agenda, manage’s the floor’s business, and acts as chief spokesperson. Lee will work closely with the Speaker of the House to schedule bills, maintain party cohesion and build winning coalitions for priorities.
Today Rehobeth Mayor Kimberly Trotter was in Montgomery at the Alabama Legislature. Mayor Trotter had several meetings while in Montgomery working for her city, Rehobeth. Mayor Trotter congratulated Representative Lee.
Paul Lee is a product of Dothan education. Was raised at Southside Baptist Church. Married to the former Ellen Vice. They have one daughter, Beth. Lee began his working days with Sony and is now Executive Director of WRC. He served as D3 Dothan Commissioner until 2010 when elected to the Alabama House of Representatives.
DOTHAN: This afternoon Dothan Police and Houston County Sheriff Department were in a stand off.
This occured in the 600 block of North Lena Street.
Multiple Dothan Police and Houston County Sheriff Department were in a stand off with reports of a person with a weapon. Subject is now in custody and no one is injured.
