This screenshot from the Alabama Department of Transportation’s ALGO site shows just how widespread icy road and bridge conditions are around the Wiregrass.

Each green icon represents ice on roads or bridges.

A large traffic jam and possible pileup is affecting Highway 231 near Ariton, where countless cars were left stranded after ice made travel impossible.

Roads remain closed today as the snow melts and turns into dangerous ice.
