The City of Dothan intends to open all local streets at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 23rd. If conditions worsen overnight and/or early in the morning on Thursday, we will communicate with the public and let everyone know what changes are to this plan.
City of Dothan offices will reopen on Thursday, January 23rd at 10:30 a.m.
The City of Dothan’s Environmental Services Division will perform regular garbage, recycling, and trash pick-up services on Thursday, January 23rd. This service will be for regular Thursday route customers. Routes may be delayed, so please leave your carts curbside. They will be serviced…possibly a little later than normal.
Garbage, recycling, and trash services for Wednesday route customers will run on Friday, January 24th. All garbage routes will return to a normal schedule on Monday, January 27th.
City of Dothan Municipal Court will suspend all in-Court proceedings until Monday, January 27, 2025.
It is the responsibility of each defendant to contact the Magistrate’s office at 334-615-4150 to make sure their address is updated for receipt of rescheduled court dates.
Dothan Fire responded to a report of a structure fire on Continental Drive.
They found a lot of haze around the residence, and they discovered insulation smoldering. They’re using a water cannon to put out the smoldering areas.
All matters scheduled for Thursday in the District and Circuit Courts of Houston County have been continued until a later date.
Parties are encouraged to ensure their correct address is on file with the Houston County Circuit Clerk’s Office as notices of new court dates will be mailed.
Additionally, the Houston County Circuit Clerk’s Office of Houston County, Alabama, will be closed Thursday, January 23, 2025, to ensure the safety and welfare of the employees of the Unified Judicial System. Employees won’t be required to submit annual or sick leave time as this closure is considered administrative leave.

A large traffic jam and possible pileup is affecting Highway 231 near Ariton, where countless cars were left stranded after ice made travel impossible.
Roads remain closed today as the snow melts and turns into dangerous ice.
