Dennis Raymond Larson, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2026, in Dothan, AL, at the age of 76. Born on November 8, 1949, in Minnesota, Dennis was a man whose life was characterized by his courage, selflessness, and loving nature. He was a true family man at heart, a God-fearing soul, and a proud farm boy affectionately known by the nickname “Bulldog” for his tenacious spirit.

Dennis is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Young Larson, and their three children, Matthew Larson, Jeffery Larson, and Christina Mannina, married to Eddie. His legacy continues through his grandchildren, Caden, Alanah, Micah, Drake, Chloe, Isabelle, and Eddie Jr., who will carry forward the values and lessons he imparted. He also leaves behind a tight-knit group of siblings, Duane Larson (Cheryl), Paul Larson (Faith), Tim Larson (Jenny), Tom Larson (Rita), Mark Larson (Sherry), and Mary Merrick (Gary), all of whom shared an unbreakable bond with Dennis.

Preceding Dennis in death were his parents, Raymond and Martha Larson, and his siblings, Reatha Kniesel and Wayne Larson, with whom he is now reunited in eternal peace.

Dennis proudly served his country in the military for 22 years, dedicating 28 months of his service to the Vietnam War. His commitment to his nation was a testament to his bravery and his sense of duty. After retiring from the military, Dennis continued to showcase his leadership skills as a Transportation Manager for Big/Little, where he worked until his retirement in 2006.

His professional journey began at Boyd Brothers Trucking, where he developed a reputation for his impeccable work ethic and his ability to inspire those around him. Dennis’s dedication to his work was only surpassed by his devotion to his family, whom he loved with every ounce of his being.

Dennis’s interests reflected the essence of who he was—a man who treasured his roots and his relationships above all else. His love for his family was evident in every aspect of his life, and he instilled in his children and grandchildren the importance of faith, integrity, and hard work. His presence in their lives was a guiding force that will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

As we remember Dennis, we reflect on a life lived with honor and a heart that gave unconditionally. He was a pillar of strength to his loved ones, a friend to many, and an example of what it means to live a life of purpose. Dennis Larson’s story is one of impact and enduring love—a story that will be recounted for generations to come.

In his memory, let us celebrate a life well-lived and a man who, through his actions and character, taught us the true meaning of courage, selflessness, and love. Dennis’s spirit will forever remain a beacon of light for his family, his friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A celebration of Dennis’s life will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2026, in the Sunset Funeral Home Chapel at 11am. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Following military honors, he will be laid to rest in Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery.

Joshua Gianni Haire

Joshua Gianni Haire, a son, devoted father, and brother, passed away on January 7, 2026, at the age of 27. Born on June 19, 1998, in West Palm Beach, FL, Joshua’s infectious smile and generous spirit brought joy to all who knew him. His departure has left an indelible mark on the hearts of his family and friends.

Joshua was preceded in death by his father, Salvatore Poma, Jr., as well as his great-grandparents, Howard and Donna Haire. He is survived by his children, Brooklyn Delores Hornsby, Auden Mason, and Aaliyah Marie Henderson, who were the pride and joy of his life. He is also survived by his mother, Christina Chapa-White; his sisters, Marianna Haire (Robert), Donna Rodriguez, and Raeleigh Hudson; and his brothers, Dylan Kiley, Noah Hudson, and Rudy Rodriguez Jr., all of whom will forever cherish his memory. His grandmother, Anna Chapa; his aunts, Maricela Wulfan and Crystal Chapa; and his uncles, Louie Poma and James Knapp III, along with his close cousins, Freddie Rodriguez, Jr., Brianna Rodriguez, Tina Chapa, and Stanley Russell Jr., are left to treasure the times they shared with Joshua. He is further survived by numerous other cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles who mourn the loss of a man whose presence was a source of strength and laughter.

Throughout his life, Joshua was known for his unwavering work ethic and his ability to form lasting bonds with those he met. He made countless friends, including his special friends, Dave and Julie Mahler and Allison and Ronnie King, Jr., who stood by him through thick and thin. Whether he was working diligently to provide for his family or engaging in his passion for God, video games and food, especially porkchops, Joshua approached every aspect of life with enthusiasm and dedication.

Joshua’s love for his children was unparalleled, and he often shared his interests with them, creating cherished memories during their time together. His ability to balance the responsibilities of fatherhood with the simple joys of hanging out with friends was a testament to his character. He was a man who could be counted on to offer a helping hand or a listening ear, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who had the pleasure of accompanying him on his journey through life.

A celebration of Joshua’s life will be held at 4:00pm on Friday, January 16, 2026 at Sunset Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 4-6 pm.

Mr. Billy Wayne Peters of Hartford went home to be with the Lord Saturday, January 10, 2026 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was 89.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 14, 2026 in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home in Slocomb. Interment will follow in the Hurricane Creek Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb directing.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday beginning at 1:00 p.m. and continuing until service time.

Billy Wayne Peters was born on November 11, 1936 in Hartford to the late Preston Alex and Nettie Martin Peters. Billy shared 70 loving years of marriage with his wife Charlotte, a testament to their deep devotion and enduring partnership. He was a loving, hardworking, dedicated and deeply appreciated man, who consistently put the needs of others before his own. His time on this earth brought joy and laughter to countless life’s. He leaves behind several generations of family who will cherish his memory, carry forward his legacy and strive to live with the same greatness he exemplified every day. Billy was an exceptional husband, father, grandfather and friend, who will be dearly missed.

In addition to his parents; two daughters: Wanda Sue Peters, and Deborah Ann Peters Andrews; brothers: Alvin Peters, Hayward Peters, Winston Peters, and Murry Peters; one sister, Myrna Peters Smith all preceded him in death.

He leaves behind a legacy including his wife, Charlotte Eloise Peters; son, Preston Dwayne Peters (Diana Smith); grandchildren: Charla Thomas, James Andrews, Justin Peters, and Casey Peters Webb; great grandchildren: Ashley, Nathan, Alex, Jase, Gabby, Issy, Ally, Preston, Bryson, Lilly, and Ava; great-great grandchildren: Christian, Braylon, Hadlee, and James; sisters: Barbara Peters Pullum(Kire) and Elizabeth Peters Gilley(Robert).

Harold McCorkle (“Mack”) Eubanks

Harold McCorkle (“Mack”) Eubanks (1942-2026), a devoted husband and beloved father, passed away on January 11th, 2026at the age of 83.

Born in Pansey, AL, Mack was an avid University of Alabama football fan.  Mack was a Chartered Life Underwriter selling insurance for over 50 years.  He was a man of care and kindness, always making new friends and acquaintances anywhere he went.  Mack never met a stranger. In addition to his passion for Bama football, he was an avid bass fisherman.

He was a faithful member of Fairview Baptist Church in Columbus Mississippi where he and Carole raised their family. For many years, he took great pride in being a team leader for the ushers.

He is survived by his loving wife of over 60 years, CaroleEubanks; one daughter Jan Eubanks Barnes (Steve Barnes) of Acworth, Georgia and one son Shay Eubanks (Kim McBrayer) of Cumming, Georgia.

He is also survived by five grandchildren, Haley Eisenhart(Thomas Eisenhart), Sarah Waldrop (Matthew Waldrop), Will Barnes, Kaitlin Eubanks, and Jordyn Eubanks; great-grandchildren, Lucy Eisenhart, Tucker Eisenhart, Ellie Waldrop, and Banks Waldrop; his Sister-In-Law, Jane Eubanks of Ashford, AL; his brother Harry Eubanks and his wife Gale Odom Eubanks of Ashford; and multiple nephews and great nephews.

In addition to his parents, Mack was preceded in death by two brothers, Dermont Eubanks (Ashford, AL) and Larry Eubanks and his wife Sarah Eubanks both of Dothan AL.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 14h at noon at Lowndes Funeral Home and Crematory.  Funeral service will be held at 2:00 at Lowndes Funeral Home and Crematory.  Burial to follow at Friendship Cemetery.

Pallbearers include Johnny Fancher, Chris Jenkins, Lance Godfrey, Criag Bateman, Brent Eubanks, and Steve Pyle.

KINSEY. . .Evelyn Raley Laseter, a resident of Kinsey, passed away Monday, January 12th, 2026, at her home surrounded by her family. She was 74.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 15th at 2:00 P.M. in the Kinsey Baptist Church with Reverend Joel Laseter officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. in the church sanctuary. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements.

Evelyn Laseter was a lifelong resident of Kinsey, daughter of the late Harold Edward “Pat” Raley, Sr. and Martha Baxter Raley. She was a graduate of Headland High School and a member of Kinsey Baptist Church. Evelyn received a B.S. Degree and a Master’s Degree both in Elementary Education from Troy University. Evelyn dedicated her life to teaching in the Houston County Public Education system and retired as an Elementary Teacher at Webb Elementary School after nearly 30 years. Beloved by all of her students, she was recognized for her excellence in teaching. Evelyn also served as a Sunday school teacher and music instructor teaching countless area children to play the piano. She used her talents for the glory of God serving as the church organist at Kinsey Baptist for over fifty years.

Surviving relatives include a daughter, Rachel Exum, Kinsey; two sons, John Laseter (Amanda), Dothan; and Reverend Joel Laseter (KrisAnn), Kinsey; a sister,         JoAnne Raley Decker (Charles), Kinsey; and a brother, Harold E Raley, Jr. (Cheryl), Kinsey; grandchildren, Scarlett Exum, John Quinn Laseter, Abigail Laseter, Nathan Laseter, Reid Laseter and Titus Laseter; and was beloved by several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

The family would like to thank the caregivers who provided attentive and loving care during her illness including Valerie Underwood, Judy Hough, MariAnn Chapman, and Hearts and Hearts Caregiving and the wonderful team at Gentiva Hospice.

Serving as active pallbearers will be Hal Raley, Chris Raley, Jason Calhoun, Blake Calhoun, Heath Quattlebaum, and Charles Decker. Serving as honorary pallbearer will be John Quinn Laseter.

Cheryle Ann Anderson Valentine, a resident of Dothan passed away on Thursday, January 8, 2026 at Southeast Health Hospital.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Cheryle was born on November 24, 1956 in Wellsville, New York and spent her early years growing up there. She later moved to Florida in her mid-twenties. Her and her husband met on a blind date in 1992, and later married on October 22, 1994. Cheryle worked as an office manager in the petroleum retail industry. She was very crafty and always working on different craft projects. She enjoyed embroidery and sewing. She made her dress and her husband’s tie for the formal dinner of their honeymoon. Her thoughtful gestures will always be remembered by those close and dear to her.

Cheryle is preceded in death by her father, Arthur James Anderson and step father, Kenneth McCracken Jr. .

Survivors include her husband, Steven Phillip Valentine; brother, Kenneth “Skeet” McCracken III (Kimberly); sisters, Gayle Distasio (Lewis) and Beth Stuart (Mark); many nieces and nephews.
