Born on September 14, 1950, in Phenix City, Alabama,  to the late Selmer Rodney Bynum, Sr. and Lois Blonnette Smith Bynum. A proud graduate of Dothan High School and Wallace College, Sandra dedicated 39 years of her life to the nursing profession. Her compassionate spirit and creative touch were evident in her care for others, both in her professional role as an RN and in her personal life.

In addition to her parents, Sandra was preceded in death by her first husband, William Sanford Childers, and her brother, Philip Lee Bynum.

Her life was a testament to enduring love, as she found happiness again with her devoted husband of 19 years, John Michael Hornsby.
