Mrs. Betty Jean Smith Childree

Mrs. Betty Jean Smith Childree of Slocomb passed away on Monday, December 15, 2025, after a lengthy illness.

Born in 1935 to the late Marlie and Lillie Mae Kirkland Smith, Betty grew up in the Fadette Community.  Upon graduation from Slocomb High School in 1953, she worked at Fort Rucker as a Budget Analyst until her retirement in 1992 after many years of service. Betty was a member of the First Baptist Church of Slocomb and the TEL Sunday school class.  She was a loving Christian mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be dearly missed by all those who loved her.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Childree.

She is survived by a son, Cecil “Steve” Childree (Katie), Birmingham; a daughter, Marlene Childree Henig (Tommy), Dothan; a granddaughter, Cecilia Henig Johnson (William), Birmingham; a grandson, Joshua Childree (Rebecca), Charlotte, NC; a brother, James L. Smith (Gayle), Abbeville; several special cousins, nieces, and friends.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, in the Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery in Slocomb with Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb directing.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wiregrass Children’s Home, Southeast Alabama Child Advocacy Center, or Chrysalis, A Home for Girls.

Patricia Ann Kelley, born in 1942 in Ozark, Alabama, passed away on December 15, 2025. She was the youngest of four children born to Brady and Comer Lou Brogden.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Raymond Kelley; her parents; and her sisters, Lillian Brogden, Mildred Hawkins and Rachel Carroll.

She is survived by her children, Belenda Gordon, Tammy Maes (Joey), Jeremy Kelley, and Justin Kelley; her grandchildren, Kelley Hutto (Kristie), Taft Gordon, Christopher Woodham, Taylor Gilpin (Daniel), Drew Kelley, Jackson Kelley, Madison Kelley, Cody Kelley, Hampton Kelley, and Emma Kelley; and her great-grandchildren, Seth Scheurer, Dean Hutto, and Nolan Gilpin.

For nearly 30 years, she faithfully served as secretary of Southside Baptist Church. In addition to her administrative work, she found great joy in serving in the nursery and teaching the two-year-old Sunday School Class.

She was a fiercely devoted wife, a loving mother, and a cherished friend. She was endlessly and equally concerned about the state of her flower beds and quality of her cooking, both reflected the care and pride she poured into everything she did. A true and treasured Southern lady, she possessed an effortless charm, a sharp wit, an enviable sense of humor, and an unwavering commitment to her family, her church, and her community.

Her legacy is one of faithfulness, love, and service, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her

A celebration of Patricia’s life will be held on Wednesday, December 17, 2025 at 2pm at Southside Baptist Church in Ozark, AL with Pastor Raymond Moncriefe officiating. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service.

 Miss Bessie Lee Barfield, a resident of Ozark, passed away Thursday, December 11, 2025, in Oakview Manor Nursing Facility. She was 90 years old.  There are no public services planned for Miss Barfield at this time. Holman Funeral Home of Ozark has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Miss Barfield was born July 25, 1935 in Houston County, Alabama to the late Marvin Barfield and Retha Lee Seagers Barfield.  In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her grandparents, Johnny and Lula Seagers; one sister, Peggy Owen; one brother, Marvin Barfield; and one half-brother, Kenneth Thomley. She is survived by a special cousin, Judy Richards.

Obituary for Mr. Charles Bullard (Sergeant First Class, United States Army, Retired) of Daleville

DALEVILLE…In Loving Memory of Charles Bullard Sergeant First Class, United States Army, Retired Charles Robert Bullard, loving husband, father, Opa, Papa, friend, and man of God, was born September 28, 1937, to William and Sarah Lois Bullard in Anderson, Indiana. Charles was called peacefully to his eternal home on December 13, 2025.

Charles led a life that can only be described as selfless, dedicating his life to serving his country, community, and family. This dedication began shortly after his graduation in 1957 when he joined the United States Army. Throughout the 60s, he served as platoon sergeant in the 416th Transportation Company until his first tour in Vietnam in the 359th Transportation Company. He went on to serve a second tour in Vietnam as truck master in the 61st Transportation Company. Before his retirement from the armed forces in 1977, he served in the 33rd Armor Regiment in Germany.

Charles’s service did not end with this retirement, as he went on to serve the community of Daleville for the duration of his career as a police officer and investigator, as well as in the S.W.A.T. and fire services. Throughout this time, Charles also led the Daleville Police Explorer Program, served in the Civil Air Patrol and was an honorary lieutenant colonel in the Alabama State Militia and deputy sheriff in Dale County. All who met Charles can attest to his life of selflessness. He was a greatly respected and beloved pillar of his community, and his loss is felt by many. Charles was predeceased in 1993 by his loving wife and mother of his four children, Hildegard Bullard. Throughout their 31 years of marriage, Hildegard served faithfully alongside Charles as a volunteer police auxiliary officer and member of the Daleville rescue squad. Charles later married Sandra J. Fischer Bullard in 2001.

The two shared twelve wonderful years together until her passing in 2013. Charles’s legacy continues nationwide as he is survived by his children: Ruth Schiepe, Thomas (Beverly) Bullard, Orson (Beth) Bullard, Charleen (Christopher) McNally, and stepchildren Robin (Nelson) Amaya and Carrie (Keith) Shanklin. He is also survived by his many loving grandchildren: BobbieJo (Jason) Martin; Caitlin (Jacob) Wasem; Christiana (Thomas) Jackson; Chelsea (Dominique) Lobban; Claire (Andrew) Kirby; Christopher, Camille, and Cole McNally; Brandon and Chloe Shanklin; and Charles, Robert, and Russell Amaya. Finally, Charles is also survived by his beloved great-grandchildren: Zachary and Lane Martin; Thomas, Adeline, and Harrison Jackson; Jason Bullard; and Bryson and Lucas Wright.

Charles was a faithful member of Crossroads Baptist Church in Dothan, and in lieu of flowers or other memorials, donations may be made to the church’s bus or youth ministries. Crossroads Baptist Church 2574 Westgate Parkway Dothan, AL 36303.

Funeral services for Charles will be held Saturday, December 20,, 2025, at Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home Chapel in Ozark, at 12p.m., with visitation beginning at 11a.m. Interment, with full military honors, will follow at Woodlawn Memory Gardens in Ozark.

Kelly Denise Fulford, age 40, of Enterprise, Alabama, passed away Saturday, December 13, 2025, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Kelly was born June 24, 1985, in Dothan, Alabama, to Ronnie Joe Fulford and Cynthia Parrish Fulford. She attended Dothan High School and later made her home in Enterprise.

Kelly was a devoted homemaker who had a heart for helping others. She was known for always opening her home to those in need and offering love and kindness to everyone she met. She enjoyed playing bingo, spending time with family and friends, cooking, shopping, going to the beach and the casino, and especially eating Mexican food. Kelly dearly loved her dog, Molly. Above all, her first grandchild, Mazaidah was her world and brought her endless joy.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ronnie Joe Fulford and Cynthia Parrish Fulford, and her son, Leland Medellin.

Kelly is survived by her husband of 25 years, Pedro Rodriguez Medellin; her children, Michael Medellin (Hope Poke), Maranda Medellin, and Layla Medellin; her granddaughter, Mazaidah Medellin; her brother, Michael Parrish; her sisters, Stacy Beverly (Tim) and Amanda Fulford; and her nieces and nephews, Zachary Parrish, Kaitlyn Parrish, Izzy Sanchez, Destiny Beverly, Tyler Beverly, Summer Fulford, Antonio Fulford, Javier Fulford, Jorge Lorado, Javier Lorado, and Lupita Balderas.

She is also survived by her aunt, Angel Hutto (Danny); her cousins, Pacie Hutto and Dakota Hutto; and her best friend, Brittany Lopez (Luis), along with many other loving family members and friends.

Kelly will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her generous heart, loving spirit, and devotion to her family.

Stanton Marden Terrio, 70, a resident of Dothan, formerly of Maine, passed away on Monday, December 15, 2025, at his daughter’s residence, following an extended illness.

Stanton was born June 28, 1955, in Bangor, Maine to the late Harold Edward & Elizabeth (Marden) Terrio. He was a 1974 graduate of Maine Central Institute. Following his graduation he proudly served in the United States Navy. After his military career, he worked as a truck driver until his retirement, and was an active member of the American Legion, Eagles Club, and the American Veterans. Stanton was a life-long resident of Maine, until relocating to Dothan in 2023 to be closer to family.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

He survived by his two daughters, Elizabeth Bennett (Bryan) of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, and Samantha Gilley (John) of Dothan; his six grandchildren, Wyatt Gilley, Weston Gilley, Madisen Gilley, Aubrey Bennett, Koa Liam Bennett, and Emersyn Bennett; and his sister, Pamela Provandie (Skip) of Ohio.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Gentiva Hospice for the love and support shown to their loved one during this very difficult time.
