Mr. Jimmy Shiver

Jimmy Shiver, passed away on July 30, 2025, in Dothan, Alabama, at the age of 78. Born on October 23, 1946, in Megargel, Alabama, Jimmy was a man of integrity and kindness, whose legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.

Jimmy was the beloved son of the late Otis Shiver and Juliette Till Shiver. He grew up in a loving home, where he learned the values of hard work and compassion that would define his life. After graduating from Frisco City High School, Jimmy furthered his education attending Alabama Aviation School and serving in the Army National Guard. His commitment to service continued as he was instrumental in bringing the Patriot Guard to the Wiregrass area where he became a respected Patriot Guard Ride Captain.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Donna Shiver; his children, Melissa Wigley (Joseph), Michael Shiver (Amanda), and Bart Shiver; his stepchildren, Tracy Lori (Billy) and Ben Barnes (Natalie); his sister, Gail Moore; as well as his 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren who brought him immense joy. His granddaughters, Alexus Shiver and Madison Baker, preceded him in death.

Beyond his family and service, Jimmy had a passion for motorcycles and fishing. His adventurous spirit and love for the open road were matched only by the tranquility he found by the water. These interests brought him great happiness and provided cherished memories for his family and friends. Jimmy’s faith was an integral part of his life. He attended Dothan Country Fellowship, where he found strength and fellowship.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Jimmy at 2 PM, Saturday, August 2, 2025 at Ward Wilson Funeral Home with Pastor Fred Bacher officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 PM until 2 PM, prior to the service at the funeral home.

Charlie Cleveland Greene Jr.

Charlie Cleveland Greene Jr., passed away peacefully at his home in Eufaula, Alabama, on Wednesday, July 30th, 2025. He was 60 years old.

Graveside services will be held Friday, August 1, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. in the Friendly Assembly of God Cemetery in Clayton, Alabama with Reverend Kevin Brannon and Reverend Ernie Gray, officiating and Glover Funeral Home of Eufaula directing.

Charlie was born January 23, 1965, in Eufaula, Alabama to the late Charlie Cleveland Greene Sr. and Carolyn Gilbert Greene. Charlie worked as a long-haul truck driver for most of his life. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and collecting arrowheads. Also, he was an avid Alabama football fan.

Charlie is preceded in death by his father; and his daughter, Amanda Greene.

Survivors include his mother, Carolyn Gilbert Greene of Eufaula; one son, Eric Wallace of Taylor, Alabama; two grandchildren, Caitlyn Wallace and Cooper Wallace both of Taylor, Alabama.

Gloria Jean Wallace passed away on July 29, 2025, at the age of 78. Born on February 19, 1947, Gloria’s life was marked by her passionate commitment to her family, her faith, and her community.

Gloria is preceded in death by her parents; JT Enfinger and Nancy Enfinger Odom; Daughter; Rebecca Renee Wallace and sisters; Dorothy Holland and Myra Floyd. She is survived by her devoted husband of 56 years, William Wallace “Billy”. Daughters; Christina Grace, (Scotty), and Charity Miller (Evan) Grandchildren; Hope Perdue (Tyler), Makenzie Miller, Jake Grace, Reese Miller, and her great-grandchildren Gage and Remi Scroggs, Mayleigh Rae Grace, and Lilly Perdue. As well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Gloria’s professional life was marked by her passion for teaching and her dedication to her students. She was a respected cosmetology teacher at Dothan Vocational School and later retired from Reid State Technical College in Evergreen, AL. Her commitment to education and her ability to inspire others left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of learning from her.

A member of Teaver Road Church in LaGrange, GA, Gloria’s faith was a cornerstone of her existence. Her involvement in the church community was a reflection of her belief in service, and the importance of fellowship.

Beyond her professional and spiritual life, she was the Matriarch. Both loving and kind, she treated every person she met as though they were family. Her unwavering kindness was a gift she gave freely, never expecting anything in return.

Quilting and crocheting were not just hobbies but expressions of her love, she found joy in creating beautiful pieces for her family and friends, each one a symbol of her enduring affection and warmth.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, August 3, 2025, at 1 PM in the Ward Wilson Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends from 12-1 PM in the chapel. Burial will follow in the Memory Hill Cemetery with Pastor Danny Geter officiating. Flowers will be accepted.

Regina Lawson Blankenship entered her eternal home with the Lord on July 11, 2025, at the age of 91. She was born the second of ten children to G. D. and Edith Hilton Lawson on July 23, 1933. She was married to Foy Blankenship and together they raised three sons. Regina is predeceased by her husband, Foy Blankenship, and sons Daniel and Jack. Her parents and siblings, Jimmy, Clorine, Pete, and Rex Lawson, and Christine Sanders also preceded her in death.

She is survived by her son, Samuel (Noella) Blankenship and grandchildren Alejandro Blankenship, Emanuel Blankenship, Jacqueline Matteri, and Billy Blankenship, and 4 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Mildred (Wayne) DuBose of Aiken, SC, brothers Billy (Martha) Lawson of Columbia, AL, George (Helen) Lawson of Albany, GA, and Russell (Sharon) Lawson of Aiken, SC, brother-in-law Larry Sanders of Leary, GA, sister-in-law Peggy Lawson of Graniteville, SC and numerous nieces and nephews.

Regina worked for many years at the Judy Bond factory in Columbia, AL, retiring as a supervisor. She faithfully served along with her husband who was a lay minister as a Sunday school teacher and mentor. She hosted many gatherings in her home and hymns were often part of the fellowship. She lived a life full of wit and grit and is greatly loved by her family and will be remembered as the matriarch.

Regina’s life will be celebrated at a memorial service on Friday, August 1st, 2025, at 11:00 am in the Chapel of Manry- Jordan- Hodges Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Rev. Michael Lawson will officiate the service. Family and friends are invited to gather and honor the remarkable life she led.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Manry-Jordan-Hodges Funeral Home. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished in the hearts of her family and friends.

Mrs. Mary Lou Thompson Smith of Geneva, AL passed away on Tuesday, July 29, 2025.  She was 94 years old.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, August 3, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Providence Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Providence Cemetery with Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home of Geneva, AL directing. The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 1:00 p.m. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to Providence Cemetery Fund in her memory.

Mary Lou was born on December 07, 1930, in Geneva Co., AL to the late Solomon Perry and Ruby Clyde King Thompson. She was their first child. She attended school at Bullock School when she was not working in the field plowing a mule or picking cotton. She was standing on an apple crate cooking before she could even reach the stove. Mary Lou was an awesome cook and an accomplished seamstress, who loved children and was always looking out for their welfare. She was employed at Van Heusen Textile factory in Geneva for almost 45 years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Leamon Smith “Dick”; three sisters, Abbie Watson Glenn, Ann Smith, Lula Webb Miller and one brother, Bennie Frank Thompson.

Mary Lou is survived by her son, Solomon Thomas Smith and wife, Glenda T. of Geneva, AL; two granddaughters, Sabrina T. Smith of Geneva, AL and Gloria Smith Merriman (Derek) of Vestavia, AL; two great granddaughters, Reagan Kessler of Auburn, AL and Vivian Merriman of Vestavia, AL; siblings, Clyde Thompson and Geraldine Sellers, both of Geneva, AL, Don Thompson (Belinda) of Malvern, AL, Sue Cullifer (Bobby) of Westville, FL, Curtis Thompson (Paula) of Birmingham, AL, Sally Thompson of Bethel, AK, Solomon P. Thompson, Jr. of Geneva, AL; brother-in-law, R.C. Smith of Geneva, AL, sister-in-law, Clovette Thompson of Geneva, AL and a host of special nieces and nephews.

Mr. T. R. Munn, Jr., a resident of the Mabson Community in Dale County, died Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was 76 years old.

Funeral services for Mr. Munn will be 10:00 A.M. Friday, August 1, 2025, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home in Ozark with Reverend Russell Hagler officiating. Interment will follow in Westview Memorial Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home in Ozark Thursday from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P. M.   Serving as pallbearers will be Chip Whitman, Billy Kennedy, Allen Norsworthy, Ronnie Lewis, Brad Loyal and Steven Baxley.  Mr. Munn was born January 5, 1949 in Dale County, Alabama to the late T. R. Munn, Sr. and Louise Bludsworth Munn. He graduated from Carroll High School in 1967 and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps shorty thereafter.  Following his military service, he returned to Ozark where he was employed first by Garner Furniture Company and later by Associates Financial Services before being hired by Pea River Electric.  He worked in several capacities at the cooperative, including construction crew and meter reader. Before his retirement in 2015, he was promoted to Billing Manager.  Mr. Munn was an avid deer hunter and men’s softball player, as well as an enthusiastic University of Alabama football fan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Clara Munn Fisher and her husband Don Fisher and Helen Munn Michalic; two brothers, Robert T. Munn and his wife Mae Opal Munn, John Edward Munn and his wife Linda Munn; brother-in-law, Dwayne Burke; nieces, Millie Munn Gray and Shana Bludsworth Grantham; nephews, Billy Munn, Jeff Bludsworth and Gary Munn.  Survivors include his wife, Patricia Jones Munn; daughter, Courtney Munn Snyder (Andy); granddaughters, MaKinlyn Munn, Adalyn Whatley and Kaydence Snyder; one sister, Frances Munn Burke; and one brother, Willie Ralph “Pete” Munn (Brenda).  Several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews also survive.   Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made in his memory to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, Florida 33607.   Condolences may be expressed at www.HolmanFuneralHome.com
