William LaVaughn Cobb, 66, of Dothan, Alabama, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at Southeast Health.
Born January 29, 1959, in Mount Holly, New Jersey, William was the beloved son of the late John Lewis Cobb and Eliza Miles Cobb. He was a proud high school graduate and spent over two decades working as a forklift operator at the main Publix warehouse in Lakeland, Florida, retiring after 22 and a half years of dedicated service.
William enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He loved fishing, cheering on Alabama football, and watching classic Westerns—especially anything starring John Wayne—as well as the Pirates of the Caribbean films.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved son, John Cobb.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 46 years, Sherri Rogers Cobb; sons Michael Cain Cobb (Jenn) and Jesse Cobb; granddaughters Lydia Cyrus, Laina Cyrus, and Pyper Whitney; brothers Johnny Cobb, David Cobb (Nancy), and Randy Cobb (Joan); and sister Rebecca Harrell (Rickey).
A visitation to honor and remember William’s life will be held on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at 2:00 p.m.
He will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him.

Stanley David West, known affectionately as Stan to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2025, in Dothan, Alabama, at the age of 70. Born on March 9, 1955, in Houston County, Alabama, Stan was a man whose warmth and humor brought light to the lives of all who knew him.
Stan was preceded in death by his beloved parents, David West and Mary Lillian Pitts West, and the mother of his children, Cheryl Cook West. His legacy continues through his loving family, including his sons, Heath West and Josh West (Melissa); his cherished grandchildren, Maci Kate West, Woodson West, Walker West, Paige West, Parker West, and Preston West; his sisters, Beverly Knapp (David) and Terri Sowell (Berry); and his adored nieces and nephews, Stephanie Williamson, Mason Wright, Colby Sowell, and Casey Wolfe. Stan’s life was enriched by the presence of numerous family members and the steadfast companionship of his dear friends, Carlos Cervera and Carol Barnett.
A proud graduate of Cottonwood High School’s class of 1973, Stan carried the spirit of his alma mater throughout his life. He was a respected member of the Tri Star work family and an active participant in the Fish Golf Group at the local Country Club. His professional life was marked by dedication and a strong work ethic, which he balanced with his love for leisure activities.
Stan’s interests were a reflection of his love for the outdoors and the simple pleasures in life. He was an avid golfer, a patient fisherman, and a man who cherished spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. His presence on the golf course and at family gatherings will be deeply missed.
Funeral services to honor and celebrate the life of Stanley David West will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 27, 2025, at Ward Wilson Funeral Home. Stan will be laid to rest at Memory Hill Cemetery following the service. Relatives, friends, and acquaintances are invited to join the family in remembrance from 1:00 p.m. until the commencement of the service.
Mr. John Wendell Hall of Fadette went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, June 22, 2025 at his residence at The Terrace at Grove Park of Dothan, Alabama. He was 88 years old.
Funeral Services, with Military Honors, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 26th at First Baptist Church Slocomb, AL with Rev. Brad Price officiating. Burial will follow at New Teamon Baptist Church Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb directing. Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to First Baptist Church Slocomb Building Fund.
The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service.
Mr. Hall was born December 20, 1936 in Esto, Florida to the late Chester and Bea Hall. John was married to his high school sweetheart Sarah Golden Hall for 64 years. He served his country in the military for 21 years. After his military service, he was employed with the State of Alabama Employment Service assisting veterans with employment opportunities until his retirement in 1998. He was an active member of First Baptist Church Slocomb where he served as a deacon and in various discipleship roles. John was full of life, had a contagious smile, a great sense of humor, and will be dearly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Sue Hall Rouse Smith, and his beloved wife, Sarah.
He is survived by three children Linda Hidle (Tim) of Dothan, Jeff Hall (Betsy) of Tyler, Texas and Lisa Reeder (Chris) of Slocomb, AL.; nine grandchildren: Brittany Reeder (Brad); Jessica Boutwell (Jeffrey); Lauren Ashley Francis (Zack); Ashton Ergle (Taylor); Fletcher Hall (Anna); Heather Hall; Tyler Reeder; Colby Reeder (Sydney); Mason Reeder (McClain) and nine great grandchildren Anabella Reeder; Isaiah Reeder; Brody Boutwell; Savannah Grace Boutwell, Emma Francis, Ollie Francis, Mae-Alis Reeder, Rhett Ergle and Beau Ergle, and a brother Edward Hall and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff and residents of The Terrace at Grove Park for providing our daddy friendships and activities that he thoroughly enjoyed.
Mr. David Anthony Workman, a resident of Daleville, died Sunday, June 22, 2025, in Dale Medical Center. He was 45 years old.
A private family memorial service will be held for Mr. Workman at a later date. Holman Funeral Home of Ozark has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Mr. Workman was born August 22, 1979 in Ozark, Alabama. He joined the United States Army in 2001 and was stationed at Fort Benning, Georgia. Following his military service, he and his wife worked as an over-the-road truck driver team with C. R. England and U. S. Express for eight years. He later began working for himself in the construction business and was presently working with Elan Communities as a Construction Superintendent. David enjoyed the outdoors, camping and kayaking. He loved his dog, Rush.
Mr. Workman is survived by his wife of 15 years, Erika Kathryn Clark of Newton; three daughters, Alyssia Workman of Atlanta, Satori Workman and Shi Workman both of Washington State; one son, Gage Workman of Ashford; his mother and father, Cynthia and James Timian of Daleville; one grandson, Grayson Workman; and paternal grandparents, Shirley and Charles Workman of Mulberry, Florida.

Gladys Kirkland Jackson, a cherished soul and beacon of unwavering faith, was called home by her Lord and Savior on June 22, 2025, at the age of 96. Born on October 27, 1928, in Hartford, Alabama, Gladys’s life was a testament to her strong Christian values and her deep roots in the community she loved so dearly.
Gladys was a woman of remarkable strength and grace, who, throughout her life, embodied the love and teachings of Christ. She was born to the late Lee Kirkland and Mallus Hawthorne Kirkland, and grew up on the family farm, learning the virtues of hard work and perseverance. Her journey took her from the fields of her childhood to Van Heusen Shirt Factory, where she dedicated many years of service.
Her marriage to Frank was a partnership of love and shared ministry, as she stood by his side as a pastor’s wife. Together, they ministered at Free Will Baptist Churches in Hartford, surrounding counties, and the panhandle of Florida. Gladys’s devotion to her faith and her community was evident in her involvement with the Eastern Star and her commitment to spreading the gospel.
Gladys was preceded in death by her devoted parents; her beloved husband, William Frank Jackson; and her dear brother, Clyde Kirkland. Her legacy continues through her loving stepdaughters, Mary Mathis, Faye Phillips, and Nelda Warren; her adored 10 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren who brought her immense joy; and her nephews, Ron Kirkland (Penny) and Bill Kirkland, who held a special place in her heart.
Gladys’s love for her family was unparalleled. She lived in Hartford for the majority of her life, cherishing the community and the memories she created there. It was only after her 89th birthday that she relocated to Pell City to be closer to her family.
The funeral services for Gladys Kirkland Jackson will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at Ward Wilson Funeral Home. Following the service, a private burial will take place at Memory Hill Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband. Her life will be celebrated with the same love and reverence that she bestowed upon others throughout her remarkable journey.
Johnny Milton Olive, a resident of Dothan died Monday, June 23, 2025 at his home. He was 89.
Graveside services will be held at 2 PM Wednesday, June 25, 2025 at Mt Olive Baptist Church, 6045 FL–2 Bascom, Florida 32423 with Reverend Tim Willis officiating. The family will receive friends at the cemetery following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ridgecrest Baptist Church, 1207 Fortner Street, Dothan, AL 36301.
Johnny was born March 16, 1936 in Bascom, Florida to the late Henry Hilton and Eula Culverhouse Olive. He was a graduate of Malone High School, a veteran of the United States Army and worked for NCR for 38 years retiring as a Regional Manager. Johnny was a member of Ridgecrest Baptist where he worked tirelessly on the Hospitality Committee and helping anyone in need that needed help. He especially enjoyed being back on the family farm, working in Bascom, Florida.
Johnny is preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Robbie Jean Olive; sister, Frances Robinson; brothers, Clinton, Hilton and Charles Olive.
Survivors include his wife, Kathleen Olive; children, Mike Olive (Vicki), Angie Clark (Buddy), Pat Waller (Stan) and Mark Olive (Shelly); grandchildren, Brennan Olive (Abby), Braden Olive (Marguerite), Brooks Olive, Lily Waller, Parker Olive and Maci Olive; great grandchildren, Elsie and Tullis; sister, Sarah Fitch, step children, Carl Crozier (Stacy), Ronnie Crozier(Laurie) and Alison Bright.
The family wishes to thank Gentiva Hospice for their love and care during this time, Shelly, Carolyn, Mark and Brother Eddie. A special thanks to his caregiver Teresa Brannon.
