Mr. David Anthony Workman, a resident of Daleville, died Sunday, June 22, 2025, in Dale Medical Center. He was 45 years old.
A private family memorial service will be held for Mr. Workman at a later date. Holman Funeral Home of Ozark has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Mr. Workman was born August 22, 1979 in Ozark, Alabama. He joined the United States Army in 2001 and was stationed at Fort Benning, Georgia. Following his military service, he and his wife worked as an over-the-road truck driver team with C. R. England and U. S. Express for eight years. He later began working for himself in the construction business and was presently working with Elan Communities as a Construction Superintendent. David enjoyed the outdoors, camping and kayaking. He loved his dog, Rush.
Mr. Workman is survived by his wife of 15 years, Erika Kathryn Clark of Newton; three daughters, Alyssia Workman of Atlanta, Satori Workman and Shi Workman both of Washington State; one son, Gage Workman of Ashford; his mother and father, Cynthia and James Timian of Daleville; one grandson, Grayson Workman; and paternal grandparents, Shirley and Charles Workman of Mulberry, Florida.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his memory to SOS Animal Shelter, 25944 Alabama Hwy 134, Enterprise, Alabama 36330.
Gladys Kirkland Jackson, a cherished soul and beacon of unwavering faith, was called home by her Lord and Savior on June 22, 2025, at the age of 96. Born on October 27, 1928, in Hartford, Alabama, Gladys’s life was a testament to her strong Christian values and her deep roots in the community she loved so dearly.
Gladys was a woman of remarkable strength and grace, who, throughout her life, embodied the love and teachings of Christ. She was born to the late Lee Kirkland and Mallus Hawthorne Kirkland, and grew up on the family farm, learning the virtues of hard work and perseverance. Her journey took her from the fields of her childhood to Van Heusen Shirt Factory, where she dedicated many years of service.
Her marriage to Frank was a partnership of love and shared ministry, as she stood by his side as a pastor’s wife. Together, they ministered at Free Will Baptist Churches in Hartford, surrounding counties, and the panhandle of Florida. Gladys’s devotion to her faith and her community was evident in her involvement with the Eastern Star and her commitment to spreading the gospel.
Gladys was preceded in death by her devoted parents; her beloved husband, William Frank Jackson; and her dear brother, Clyde Kirkland. Her legacy continues through her loving stepdaughters, Mary Mathis, Faye Phillips, and Nelda Warren; her adored 10 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren who brought her immense joy; and her nephews, Ron Kirkland (Penny) and Bill Kirkland, who held a special place in her heart.
Gladys’s love for her family was unparalleled. She lived in Hartford for the majority of her life, cherishing the community and the memories she created there. It was only after her 89th birthday that she relocated to Pell City to be closer to her family.
The funeral services for Gladys Kirkland Jackson will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at Ward Wilson Funeral Home. Following the service, a private burial will take place at Memory Hill Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband. Her life will be celebrated with the same love and reverence that she bestowed upon others throughout her remarkable journey.
Johnny Milton Olive, a resident of Dothan died Monday, June 23, 2025 at his home. He was 89.
Graveside services will be held at 2 PM Wednesday, June 25, 2025 at Mt Olive Baptist Church, 6045 FL–2 Bascom, Florida 32423 with Reverend Tim Willis officiating. The family will receive friends at the cemetery following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ridgecrest Baptist Church, 1207 Fortner Street, Dothan, AL 36301.
Johnny was born March 16, 1936 in Bascom, Florida to the late Henry Hilton and Eula Culverhouse Olive. He was a graduate of Malone High School, a veteran of the United States Army and worked for NCR for 38 years retiring as a Regional Manager. Johnny was a member of Ridgecrest Baptist where he worked tirelessly on the Hospitality Committee and helping anyone in need that needed help. He especially enjoyed being back on the family farm, working in Bascom, Florida.
Johnny is preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Robbie Jean Olive; sister, Frances Robinson; brothers, Clinton, Hilton and Charles Olive.
Survivors include his wife, Kathleen Olive; children, Mike Olive (Vicki), Angie Clark (Buddy), Pat Waller (Stan) and Mark Olive (Shelly); grandchildren, Brennan Olive (Abby), Braden Olive (Marguerite), Brooks Olive, Lily Waller, Parker Olive and Maci Olive; great grandchildren, Elsie and Tullis; sister, Sarah Fitch, step children, Carl Crozier (Stacy), Ronnie Crozier(Laurie) and Alison Bright.

Kay Shaughnessy, a member of her community and a true example of love and kindness, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2025, in Dothan, Alabama. She was born on February 1, 1948, in Alma, Georgia, and brought joy and light to those around her for 77 wonderful years.
Kay’s life was one of dedication and devotion—both to her beloved family and to the businesses she built from the ground up. She is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Rick Shaughnessy, and their beautiful family, including daughters TC Phillips (Neal) and Theresa Shaughnessy, sons Richard, Michael, and Leonard (Lori) Shaughnessy, and her beloved grandchildren Colby and Bailey Wright, Madison and Jon Alan Phillips, Brittany Gibson, Jonathan Meredith, Brandon Hanners, Madison Hanners, Joshua Wyer, Sarah Wyer-Gomez, Michael Phillip Shaughnessy, and Lillian Shaughnessy. Kay’s brother, Col. Alec Sawyer and sister, Sarah Sawyer, along with many cherished nieces, nephews, and great-grandchildren, will hold her memory close to their hearts. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sandy A. Sawyer and Margaret Sawyer, her son, Charles Alan Wright, and her sister, Sandra S. Rich.
In 1985, Kay founded Kay’s Interiors, a provider of fine drapes and shutters that showcased her exceptional taste. Her entrepreneurial spirit drove the company’s success and made it a well-known local establishment. Kay’s presence in Dothan was marked by her unwavering commitment to her work and the people she served. Her reputation extended beyond her business as she became known for her kindness, her engaging smile, and her willingness to go above and beyond to help others.
Family was the cornerstone of Kay’s life. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and aunt. Her home was filled with warmth and affection, where laughter was shared, and memories were made. Kay’s love extended to her feline companions, who were never far from her side. Her gentle nature made her easy to love, and her kindness left a lasting impression on everyone she met.
An avid motorcyclist, Kay relished the freedom of the open road, particularly when she rode her Harley Davidson. Her adventurous spirit was matched by her strength and resilience, especially during her courageous battle with breast cancer—a fight she approached with the same grace and fortitude that characterized her entire life.
A celebration of Kay’s life will be held on Wednesday, June 25, 2025 at 11am in the Sunset Memorial Park Funeral Home with her brother Alec Sawyer officiating. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, June 24, from 5pm until 7pm. Following the service, she will be laid to rest in the Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery.
James Patrick Glover, affectionately known by his family as Patrick and by friends as James, was a beacon of love and faith throughout his 29 years of life. Born on July 10, 1995, in Dothan, Alabama, to proud parents Kennith and Genice Glover, James’s journey began in the same town he would later peacefully pass away in on June 18, 2025, following a brave battle with cancer.
Growing up in Dothan, James’s early life was marked by the close-knit bonds he formed with his family. He shared a special bond with his sister, Britany Glover Stewart, her husband KJ Stewart, and their precious daughter Kenzlyn. His cousin Asia Glover held him especially close to her heart, alongside his special cousins Malvin and Billie Glover. James is also survived by his aunts Carol (James) Crawford, Glenza (Mance) Gary, Dianne Stevens, and uncles Jameson (Felicia) Glover, Ronald (Joyce) Barwick, and Jerome (Faye) James, as well as countless other cousins. They all knew him as a source of warmth and love. Preceding him in death were his grandparents, James and Evelyn Glover, Jake and Mary Barwick, his Uncle Cleveland Jones and his Aunt Mamie Durr, who had left a profound impact on his life.
As a 2014 graduate of Northview High School, James was known for his quick wit and boundless creativity. His professional journey led him to Michelin, where he excelled as a lead machine operator for four years. James was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, taking James 4:8 “Draw close to God and He will draw close to you.” as his guiding verse, drawing strength and comfort from his faith.
James’s interests displayed his love for life and a passion for creativity. He was known for his loving outgoing personality, and his humor brought laughter to any room. James had many hobbies. He was an avid lover of games and anime, he also had a talent for making music and beats. His artistic side was shone through in his drawings and woodworking projects, and he had a special place in his heart for children, especially his niece Kenzlyn aka “Peanut”. James’s enthusiasm extended to his love for cars, rifles, and the great outdoors. As a kid he was often found climbing trees with his cousins and sister.
James’s big heart and keen mind were a testament to his character. He pursued his passions with vigor and was always willing to lend a hand or an ear to anyone in need. His ability to uplift others, even during his illness, was a true display of his faith-filled and loving nature.
Most of all, James cherished his relationship with Jehovah. Throughout his battle with cancer, he remained steadfast, sharing the hope and comfort he found in God’s word with those around him. His humor and warmth remained undiminished until the end, reminding those he loved to smile and keep faith.
Although James’s time on earth was cut short, his legacy is one of strength, kindness, and humor. He will be deeply missed and forever cherished by those who had the privilege of knowing him. James’s memory will live on as a beautiful soul who loved Jehovah more than anything, and his influence will continue to inspire those he left behind. We can’t wait to see him in paradise.
A celebration of James’s life will be held at 3:30pm on Friday, June 27, 2025, at Sunset Funeral Home with Elder Chris Grubbs officiating.
DOTHAN… Barbara Ann Jones, a resident of Dothan, Alabama, passed away Saturday, June 21, 2025, at a Dothan hospital. She was 70.
A memorial service will be held 6:00 P.M. Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at Wright Funeral Home & Crematory Chapel with Reverend James Truitt officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 6:00 P.M. prior to the service. Wright Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Jones was born in Abbeville, Alabama to the late Roy Martin and Marion Delois Martin Spann. She lived her childhood in the Abbeville, Alabama area, but most of her adult life was lived in Dothan, Alabama. She retired from Fain Elementary School as a custodian after several years. She was a member First Baptist Church of Dothan. She loved her family dearly.
Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by her grandson, Garyoun Fluellen.
Leaving to cherish her memories, is her daughter, LaTonya Neal (John, Jr.); her sons, Bobby Fluellen, Tyrone Fluellen, Maurice Fluellen, Eric Fluellen, and Chris Fluellen; her sisters, Brenda Kincey (Walter), Annie Spann, and Shirley Chitty; her brother, Willie Spann (Gwen); her thirteen grandchildren; her eleven great-grandchildren; her several nieces and nephews; and her extended family and friends.
