Britteny Nicole Wesley

Britteny Nicole Wesley

Britteny Nicole Wesley, affectionately known as Britt to her close friends and family, brought a gentle and kind presence into this world on May 2nd, 1989, in Austell, Georgia. Sadly, after a courageous battle, Britteny departed from this life on May 9th, 2025, in Dothan, Alabama. Her grace and resilience throughout her life and illness were an inspiration to all who knew her.

Britteny was a proud graduate in 2008 of Hiram High School in Hiram, Georgia, where she participated in track and field and was known for her quiet determination and unique way of confidently doing things her own way. After completing her education, she dedicated herself to her role at Lowe’s Distribution Center, where her work ethic and kind nature made her a valued team member and a friend to many.

In her personal life, Britteny was a woman of simple pleasures. She found joy in the quiet moments, whether it was watching her favorite TV shows, heading out to the movies, or dressing up in her signature preppy style. Despite her reserved nature, Britteny had a profound impact on those around her. Her kind-heartedness and the subtle way she expressed her care and affection will be deeply missed by all.

Britteny’s family was the cornerstone of her life. She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories for her mother, Lisa Wesley; her father, Bill Wesley and step-mother Katrina; her beloved daughter, Taylor German; her brother, Trey Wesley; and her step-siblings, Ashley, Candace, Sean, and Aaron. She also leaves behind her grandmothers, Betty Bailey and step-grandmother Eloise McGee. Her extended family, including her uncles Jeffrey, Donnie, Kevin, and Timothy, and her “special aunt” ReRe, Willa Mae, Faye, Michelle, and Traci, along with a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews that will forever hold Britteny in their hearts. Britteny was preceded in death by her grandfather, Charlie Bailey, “special aunt” Valarie Bailey, and grandparents, William Wesley, Sr. and Albertha Wesley.

The words that best describe Britteny are kindness, grace, and quiet strength. She navigated life’s challenges with a soft-spoken courage that drew people to her. Her ability to listen, truly listen, made her a confidante and friend to many. Britteny’s life may have been brief, but the impression she left on this world was significant and will be felt for generations to come.

As we mourn her passing, we also take solace in knowing that Britteny’s spirit lives on through her daughter, Taylor, and the many lives she touched with her gentle soul. We will carry her memory with us, finding comfort in the love she gave and the time we spent with her. Britteny’s journey on this earth was a testament to the enduring power of kindness and the quiet strength that lies within us all.

Mrs. Lillie Jane Brackin Adkinson

Mrs. Lillie Jane Brackin Adkinson

Mrs. Lillie Jane Brackin Adkinson passed away on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at the age of 88.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, May 13, 2025 at First United Methodist Church in Dothan with Dr. David R. Saliba officiating. A private family graveside will follow in the Union Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Newville with Glover Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 1:45 PM at the church on Tuesday prior to the services.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Respite Care Ministry at First United Methodist Church, 1380 W. Main Street, Dothan, Al. 36301.

Mrs. Lillie Jane Brackin Adkinson was born on July 14, 1936 in Newville to Lionel and Nelle Brackin. She spent her early years in Newville, attending school there through her junior year, then graduating from Dothan High School. She went on to attend Huntington College for two years, and in 1956, she married Harold Johnson and moved to Auburn, Alabama. She attended Alabama Polytechnic Institute (now Auburn University), where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics in 1958.

After graduation, they moved to Headland, Alabama, then to Dothan, and eventually to Huntsville. In 1969, the family returned to Dothan where, as Jane said, she “was privileged to be a stay-at-home-mom” to their three daughters. During those years, she was very involved in serving at First United Methodist Church, the Dothan Service League, and she enjoyed her Luncheon Bridge group. Jane’s love for her girls was shown in all her actions. She lived her life as a reflection of her love for the Lord and instilled that same faith in her girls, always encouraging them to honor and trust in Him.

After a long stint at home, Jane decided it was time to use her talents outside the home. She studied drafting and worked for Jimmy Grant for two years. Though her drafting career was brief, she used this talent often in the remodel of her homes, and later helping her children with projects. She went on to work at Jamar’s Gift Shop and later spent twelve wonderful years in the bridal department at Northcutt’s on Main, where she delighted in helping brides choose elegant table settings for their new homes.

In retirement, Jane returned to what she loved most – caring for others. She cherished time with her mother, her grandchildren, and eventually her great-grandchildren. And any day spent in her yard was a great day! Her commitment to serving others never waned. She remained active at Church, participating in mission trips to Brazil, teaching the Kay Williams Sunday School Class, and serving on various committees. She also loved and cherished her monthly meetings with her dear friends in The Eclectas Club.

At her 50th Dothan High School class reunion, Jane reconnected with a dear friend from her class, Jerry Adkinson. They began dating, and less than a year later, they planned a wedding and were married on November 7, 2004. They enjoyed many happy years together traveling and spending time with their ever-growing circle of family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents Lionel and Nelle Brackin, and her brother Carl Brackin.

Jane is survived by her husband of twenty one years, Jerry Adkinson; her three daughters, Lydia Johnson Simpson (Jimmy) of Marietta, Georgia, Julie Johnson Jones (Stan) of Dothan, and Amanda Johnson Suddoth (Scott) of Germantown, Tennessee; stepchildren, Julie Steeves of Marietta, Georgia, Jeff Adkinson (Suzanne) of Pansey, Alabama, and Jon Adkinson of Marietta, Georgia; grandchildren, Kathryn Jane Simpson, Julia Brackin Simpson, Turner Jones (Mary Olivia), David Jones (Claire), Stanley Jones, Rush Jones (Olivia Rush), Alex Suddoth, Daniel Suddoth, Elizabeth Jane Suddoth (Andy Jones), Sarah Suddoth, Kate Steeves (Alex Dean), Alli Adkinson, Will Adkinson, Ty Adkinson, Tori Adkinson, and Grey Adkinson; seven great grandchildren; dearly loved sisters-in-law, Dethalia Armstrong of Headland, and Phyllis Brackin of Dothan; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Jane’s legacy is one of faith in her loving Savior, grace and kindness to all she encountered, and unwavering devotion to her family and community. She will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know her.
