ABBEVILLE. . .Stephanie Sauls Kelley, a resident of the Lawrenceville Community, near Abbeville, passed away Thursday, January 1, 2026, at her home. She was 58.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, January 17, 2026, in the Abbeville High School Gymnasium. Stephanie was deeply loved by her family, friends, faculty, and students. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements.

Stephanie Kelley was born in Lake City, Florida, daughter of the late Bobby Ray Sauls, Sr. and Sarah Arnold “Boogie” Sauls. She was raised in Henry County and was a graduate of Abbeville High School. Stephanie attended Wallace Community College where she received an Associates Degree as an Optical Laboratory Technician. She was currently teaching at Abbeville High School as an assistant Physical Education Teacher. In earlier years, she coached softball at Abbeville High School and served as a bus driver. Stephanie also served as a bookkeeper for basketball and softball at Abbeville High School and Abbeville Christian Academy. She was affiliated with Sardis Baptist Church.
Surviving relatives include her husband, William Stanley “Stan” Kelley; a son, Travis Kelley (Logan), Troy, AL; a brother, Bobby Ray Sauls, Jr. (Deborah), Eufaula; a sister-in-law, Karen Kelley Morgan, Abbeville; her mother-in-law, Inez Campbell Kelley, a niece, Candace Hardy (Denny), a nephew, Dustin Clark, and a great-nephew, Jackson Riley.

Mr. Mitchell Griffin, a resident of Clayton, Alabama, passed away Thursday, January 8, 2026, at The Retreat Hospice in Mobile, Alabama. He was 86 years old.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 17, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Adams Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. Clyde Hancock officiating, and Glover Funeral Home directing. The burial will follow in the church cemetery. A visitation will be held from 10:00-10:45 a.m. prior to the service.

Mitchell was born on February 2, 1939, in Barbour County, Alabama, to the late Remus Albert and Bonnie Kate Hartzog Griffin. Mitchell enjoyed farming, watching his grandson, Connor, play sports, eating out with friends and family, and hunting. He was a 1957 graduate of Bakerhill High School.
He is preceded in death by his parents; loving wife, Becke Mitchell Griffin; two brothers, Rothel Griffin and Wayne Griffin; brother-in-law, Howard White; niece, Donna White.
Survivors include his daughter, Tracee Ellsworth (Jeff) of Spanish Fort, Alabama; grandson Connor Ellsworth of Spanish Fort, Alabama; sister, Katie White of Prattville, Alabama; two sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Griffin and DeeDee Griffin both of Clayton, Alabama; several nieces and nephews.
Asked to serve as pallbearers are Connor Ellsworth, Ashley Griffin, Jay Fenn, Alan Howell, Jason Benefield, Griffin Fenn, Jalan Howell, and Braydan Benefield.
Honorary pallbearers will be Garrett Fenn and the Bakerhill Class of 1957.

Renea Myers, 63, of Pansey, Alabama, was born on December 16, 1962, and passed away peacefully at her home on January 9, 2026, surrounded by her loved ones.
Renea was born to her parents, Floyd Mason and Virginia Perkins. She was a graduate of Houston County Schools.
She leaves behind her devoted husband of 20 years, John Myers; her children Derick Creekmore (Elizabeth), Kelly Harrison, Isaiah Myers, and Kate Holley; and her cherished grandchildren Tenley and Blakelynn Creekmore, Harrison Brown, Jeremiah and Gabriel Myers, Kye, Aiden, Emma, and Norah Lynn Holley. She is also survived by her siblings Sharon Stevens, Bobby Willis, James Willis, and Lynnette Mason.
Renea was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Doris; and her precious granddaughter, Kennedie Brown—who was waiting with open arms.
Throughout her life, Renea held many jobs, but her true calling was caring for others. She helped raise many children over the years and was in the process of obtaining custody of her granddaughters before her diagnosis. For over ten years, she faithfully served at Watermark Preschool, where she consistently loved and nurtured every child who walked through the doors. Her kindness left a lasting impact on countless families.
Renea will be remembered for her warm smile, her giving heart, and her loud, joyful laugh that could be heard for miles. She loved deeply, lived selflessly, and leaves behind a legacy of compassion that will continue through all who knew her.
She will be greatly missed and forever loved.

HEADLAND…Ms. Kathy Louise Wakefield, a resident of Headland (formerly of Ozark), died early Saturday afternoon, January 10, 2026, at her home. She was 72.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, January 14, 2026, in Westview Memorial Cemetery with Reverend Dr. Scott Thompson officiating. The family will receive friends following the graveside service. Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark is in charge of arrangements.
Ms. Wakefield, the beloved daughter of the late John M. McGinty and Billie Louise Barnes, was born in Jasper, Alabama, and made her home in Ozark from a young age. Those who knew her remember a woman with a gentle spirit, a kind smile, and a heart that always leaned toward helping others.
In her earlier years, she worked at Vivian B. Adams School as a teacher’s aide, a role that suited her perfectly. She had a natural gift for patience and encouragement, and she poured that into the children she worked with. Many families still remember her steady presence and the way she made every child feel seen and supported.
Faith was an important part of her life. She was a devoted member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church in Ozark, where she found community, comfort, and lifelong friendships. Whether she was attending services, lending a hand, or simply sharing a warm conversation, she carried her faith quietly but sincerely.
Ms. Wakefield was preceded in death by her brother‑in‑law, George Szpek, and her nephew, Ashley Szpek, both of whom she held close in her heart. Though she faced her share of loss, she remained a source of strength and compassion for those around her.
She will be remembered for her kindness, her steady love for her family, and the gentle way she moved through the world. Her presence will be deeply missed, but the memories she leaves behind will continue to bring comfort to all who loved her.

Ms. Lorinda Sue Moore of Wicksburg, passed away Saturday, January 10, 2026 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was 76.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 13, 2026 at Pilgrim Home Baptist Church with Rev. David Thomley, Rev. Buddy Hood and Rev. Allen Singley officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb directing.

Lorinda was born on February 10, 1949 in Houston County to the late A.E. and Ruby Thomley Jones. She was a devoted mother and above all, she loved her family deeply and took her greatest pride in raising her children. Lorinda served as a nurse at Southeast Medical Center for over 30 years, where her compassion touched countless lives. An avid outdoorswoman, she found joy in gardening, fishing, and trips to the beach. She was also a passionate fan of the Atlanta Braves. Lorinda will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Lorinda is survived by three daughters: Velvet Kiley (Marc), Shannon Wehunt (Robbie) and Chasity Etheredge; two sons, Casey Moore (Starla) and Jason Moore; twelve grandchildren: Lori Redden (Mason), Haley Crider (Andrew), AJ Etheredge (Kellie), Jordan Watson (Brock), Della Wehunt, Jamie Watson (Trenton), Casey Moore, Jr., Blake Moore, Alexis Burch, Jason Moore, Jr (Jayleen) Katelyn Moore and Joslynn Graham Moore; 13 great-grandchildren; aunt, Maureen Barnes; and other extended family and friends.
