DOTHAN… Larry Frank Lewis, Sr., a resident of Dothan and Abbeville on Lake Eufaula, passed away Tuesday morning, May 19, 2026, at a Dothan Alabama hospital with his family by his side. He was 85 years old.
Larry Lewis was born and raised in Wadesboro, North Carolina, and was the son of the late Frank Washington Lewis and Ruth Thompson Lewis. He was preceded in death by his brother, Lannie Lewis, and his daughter, Beth Lewis Jones.
Surviving relatives include his loving wife, Mary Elizabeth Martin Lewis; two sons, Larry Frank Lewis, II, of Abbeville Alabama, and Christopher Martin Lewis (Kalandra), of Ft. Myers, Florida; a sister, Lynn Lewis Lee of Wadesboro, North Carolina; a brother, Trailor Lewis (Linda) of North Carolina; grandchildren, Loryn Wooten (Mike), Trey Lewis, Olivia Jones, Dylan Lewis, and Kettner Lewis; and great-grandchildren, Lucas Wooten, Samuel Wooten, and Nora Wooten.
Larry was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. One thing was certain, you always knew where you stood with him. He was honest, direct, and never left anything open-ended.
After spending over 35 years in the telecommunications industry, he retired as a Senior Vice President in 1999. Larry spent his early retirement years enjoying offshore fishing in the Gulf of Mexico and hunting at his club in Alabama. He later purchased property and created his own paradise for his family to enjoy.
Nothing brought him greater happiness than seeing his family gathered together at the farm or at the lake, hunting, fishing, and making memories. Larry especially loved spending time on his tractor, and if he could have chosen, that is probably where he would have wanted to spend his final moments.

Scott Holman Davis, 66, of Dothan, AL, a proud US Army veteran, went to his eternal home with the Lord on May 7th, 2026 after an extended illness. Born in Auburn, AL, Scott was raised in Dothan, AL. A graduate of Dothan High School and Troy State University, Troy, AL, Scott earned a Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences & Corrections with a Master’s Degree in International Studies.
As a youth, Scott was lured to the skies by nonstop helicopter activity at nearby Ft. Rucker. AL. Joining the Army in 1984, he attended basic training at Ft. Dix, New Jersey. He began his aviation career at Ft. Rucker, graduating in November of 1985 in Royal Blue Class 85-19. During flight school Scott was known to invite his classmates to both his father’s and grandfather’s homes on the weekends for a meal and much-needed R&R. After Warrant Officer flight training, he qualified as an AH-1S Cobra pilot in February 1986. Scott was assigned to Mainz-Finthen Army Airfield, West Germany, serving in A Company, 3-4 Aviation Regiment, 8th Infantry Division.
Following this overseas assignment, he returned to Ft. Rucker in May 1989 where he was a Cobra Instructor Pilot for the next three years, perfecting his night vision goggle techniques by night and his golf game by day. Scott transferred to the U.S. Army Reserve in Orlando, Florida and qualified on the RC-12 fixed wing aircraft as pilot in command, instructor pilot, and instrument flight examiner. Scott voluntarily deployed to Ft. Humphreys South Korea with the 138th Military Intelligence Battalion. Scott continued serving as a traditional reservist conducting Crazy Horse Missions in the RC-12. In 2006, he returned to full-time Army service at Ft. Rucker’s Warrant Officer Career Center as Program Manager and Instructor. He retired as a CW5 in March 2010.
Scott’s distinguished military awards include the Army Commendation Medals, Meritorious Service Medal; Master Army Aviator Badge, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon, and Armed Forces Reserve Medal.
His civilian aviation ratings include Airline Transport Pilot Certificates and Certified Flight Instructor for both fixed wing & rotary wing aircraft.
While still serving in the Army Reserves, Scott was hired by Northwest Airlines flying the Airbus A320 and DC-9. Scott retired as a Captain for Delta Airlines on the Boeing 717.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Amy Guenther Davis; daughter, Caroline Johnston (Rob Johnston III) of Mobile, AL; son, Dupree Davis of Dothan, AL; Brother, John Davis Jr (Sharon) John III, Josie & Derrick; Brother, Joseph Clinton Davis (Kanetha) Aaron (Ashton) & John Caleb; Sister, Allison Davis Moore (Rob) Luke & Davis. He is preceded in death by his Father Dr. John Davis, DMD and Mother Augusta Braswell.

William Douglas “Billy” Hatcher, age 29, of Cottonwood, Alabama, passed away on Saturday, May 16, 2026.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at Hodgesville Baptist Church with Pastor Ed Ham officiating and Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb directing. The family will receive friends beginning at 9:00 am and continuing until service time. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Billy was born in Dothan, Alabama, to Ronnie Douglas Hatcher, Jr. and the late Karla Patsy Burk Hatcher. After high school, he became an auto body mechanic, a profession he truly loved. Billy was known for his strong work ethic, energetic spirit, and love for staying busy. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially fishing, and treasured the moments shared with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Karla Patsy Burk Hatcher, and his paternal grandfather, Ronnie Douglas Hatcher, Sr.
Survivors left to cherish his memory include his loving son, Rylen James Hatcher; his father, Ronnie Douglas Hatcher, Jr (Bridget).; brothers: Marcus Douglas Hatcher (Blakely), Daniel Vernon Hatcher, Clint Vernon Hatcher, and Brady Lannis Hatcher; maternal grandparents, Larry and Patsy Burk; paternal grandmother, Rhonda Hatcher; nephews, Lucas Hatcher and Henry Hatcher; aunts: Sharon Hacher Griffin (Joey), Amanda Hatcher Johnson (Eddie), Kim Burk Barker (Keith) and other extended family and friends.

Billy Wayne Ellenburg of Samson, AL went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 19, 2026. He was 75 years old.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 23, 2026 in the chapel of Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home in Geneva with Rev. Jimmy Eddins and Rev. Larry Mock officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery in Geneva, AL with Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home of Geneva directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday beginning at 10:00 a.m. The family will receive flowers, or memorial contributions may be to St. Jude’s Research Hospital in Wayne’s memory.
Wayne was born in Geneva County, AL on April 10, 1951 to the late Clarence and Mattie Pearl White Ellenburg. Wayne was a loving and devoted daddy and granddaddy who loved his family and enjoyed spending time with all of them. He retired as a supervisor with the Geneva County Road and Bridge Department after 26 years of service. He was an avid gardener who always had a beautiful vegetable garden full almost year around. Of all things he enjoyed, having a meal around the table with family and friends was at the top of his list, especially if they were cooking and eating fried fish. He was of the Assembly of God faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Harold Gene Ellenburg and one sister, Sue Miller.
Wayne is survived by his four children, Lynette Leiser (Jeff) of Dothan, AL, Amanda Snell (Jerry) of Enterprise, AL, Tonya Churchwell (Ernie) of Samson, AL and Michael Wayne Ellenburg (Danielle) of Samson, AL; 14 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren; two brothers, E.J. Ellenburg and Steve Ellenburg (Cheryl), all of Enterprise, AL, two sisters, Brenda McCall of Chancellor, AL and Patricia Yates (Rex) of Geneva, AL and a host of special nieces and nephews.

OZARK…Beloved and devoted mother, wife, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Carol Wood Murphy, went to be with her Lord Jesus in heaven, on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at the age of 97.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph William Murphy, Sr., her mother, Betty King Wood, and father, Alexander David Wood, and her siblings, Nan Stillings, Lida Landreth, Janie Wood, King Wood, Alexander David “Buddy” Wood, Jr. and Betty Storrs.
She is survived by her two sons, Joseph William Murphy, Jr (Laura), and John David Muirphy; grandchildren, Megan Claire Murphy and William Wade Murphy (Katie); two great-grandchildren, Clark Murphy and Theo Murphy, and many other beloved family.
Carol Murphy was born in 1929 in Columbia, Alabama, where she spent her childhood enjoying many days playing outdoors in creeks and climbing trees. She graduated from Montevallo College and then became a schoolteacher in Sylacauga, Alabama at B.B. Comer High School.
Carol was known for her devotion to her Christian faith, her talent as an artist, and her love of gardening. Her favorite flower was the camelia. She was also an avid letter writer and a proficient cook. Carol had a sharp wit and a wry sense of humor despite her often-quiet demeanor.
It was Carol’s wish to be cremated. There will be no public funeral services. Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark is in charge of arrangements.
