Mrs. Deborah “Debbie” Ann Bass, aged 59, of Malvern, peacefully passed from this life to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at Southeast Health.
A cherished daughter, devoted wife, and loving mother, Debbie’s journey was marked by faith, grace, and an unwavering commitment to family and community. Born on October 10, 1966, in Houston County to Thurman and Barbara Reeder Carroll, she was a proud graduate of Rehobeth High School’s class of 1984. Throughout her life, Debbie exemplified the virtues of a true Southern lady, renowned for her warmth, kindness, and exceptional gift of cooking.
Her life was beautifully intertwined with that of her beloved husband, Tim Bass, whom she met along life’s path and with whom she was to celebrate 40 years of marriage this coming September. Debbie’s faith found powerful expression through her dedicated service as church secretary at Malvern Baptist Church for three decades and as a beloved Sunday school teacher. In addition to her deep love for singing and reading, she took great joy in preparing for her Sunday school lessons, nurturing the spiritual growth of those around her.
Debbie’s heart belonged foremost to her family. She was the beloved wife of Tim Bass of Malvern; the adoring mother of Carroll Ann Losh and her husband Calvin of Dothan, and son, Alexander Bass of Malvern. Her grandchildren—Henry Losh, Walter Losh Jensen Bass, and Blakleigh Bass, —brought her immense joy and pride. She was supported and surrounded by her parents, Thurman and Barbara Carroll; her brothers Lawrence Carroll, Jerry Carroll and his wife Nicole, and Charles Carroll and his wife Niki; as well as numerous extended family members and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her beloved grandparents, Coley and Inez Reeder, and Homer and Eva Carroll, as well as her father-in-law, James Bass.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 12, 2026, at Malvern Baptist Church, with Rev. Hosea Parker and Rev. Patrick Trawick officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb is honored to assist the family in this time of remembrance.
In honoring Debbie’s legacy, a shining light for the Lord, we remember a woman whose spirit was illuminated by faith, whose home was filled with love, and whose life was a testament to the blessings of devotion and community. She will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by all whose lives she touched.
