Betty Rae (Love) Drummond

Betty Rae Love Drummond was born December 17, 1929, in Houston County, Alabama. She left Houston County and Dothan with her Lord and Savior on May 19, 2026.

Betty Drummond was “a force”, as someone recently described her. She was a force for the cause of Christ, alongside her beloved Lewis A. Drummond, whom she married in 1950, months after being introduced by her brother Max. Betty and Lewis loved each other deeply and were married for 54 years.

Together, Betty and Lewis pursued his seminary education, pastoring, mentoring congregations, and ministering with the goal of evangelism always in the forefront. Whether in Texas, Alabama, England, Louisville KY or in countless countries around the world, Betty was beside him as he preached and taught. She loved him fiercely and was so proud of the man who called her “Dolly”, as a pet name. Betty was the Queen of Hospitality. She used that gift for hundreds of events as the name of Jesus and the banner of world, home and personal evangelism was going forth from seminaries, hotel conference rooms and their own home living room.

Always dressed to the nines and many a hat on her head, she was a beauty who complemented her dear husband as they traveled from Alabama to Australia in the many Billy Graham Crusade events, they took part in over the course of a long friendship with the Graham family and organization. On Betty and Lewis’ first time across “the pond”, she worked in the offices of the Billy Graham Organization in London. While in London pursuing Lewis’ doctorate at Kings’ College, and several years later as Lewis’ taught at Spurgeon College, it was rumored that Betty had introduced Dr. Graham to a Windsor Royal, who may or may not have been the Queen.

Betty certainly could have pulled that intro off, given the opportunity!

Betty partnered with her husband, the author, on every book he wrote, one way or another. And she co-authored several as well.

Her nieces, nephews, and too numerous to name adopted family members, students, and ministry partners know that Betty and Lewis were generous, and even extravagant givers – stewarding their blessings toward furthering the cause of evangelism, but also generous to family and loved ones in compassionate ways.

Betty and Lewis put their life and work into showing a lost world the love and salvation found in Christ.

Betty was preceded in death by her dear Lewis; brother Ernest Love; sister Faycile Morris Pollan; brother Max Morris; and nephews Ron Pollan and Raley Morris.

She is survived by nieces and nephews Jacquie Sue Morris, Max Morris, Alan Love and Melodie Pollan Robison; sister-in-law and friend of a lifetime Jacquie Warren; and countless former students, extended family and ministry partners, who loved Betty Drummond dearly.
