DOTHAN: On Monday U.S. Senator Coach Tommy Tuberville was the featured speaker at the AUSA Meeting held at Dothan Civic Senator.
Coach Tuberville is not seeking re-election as U.S. Senator but has qualified to seek election as Governor of the State of Alabama. Current Governor Kay Ivey has termed out and not seeking re-election.
AVON-HOUSTON COUNTY: 6:02 PM Houston County 911 dispatched Ashford Rescue to a medical emergency in the Avon Area. A male subject not breathing, CPR in progress. Ashford Rescue has mutual aid requested Dothan Fire Engine Company for advanced life support.
That is what the emergency units are rolling on Highway 84 East for.
LUCY-HOUSTON COUNTY: 10:44 AM Following a text sent from a deer stand on Saturday, people have kicked into action.
Lucy Volunteer Fire Department has been inoperable for four months. The Houston County Volunteer Fire Chief Association has cut the funding to Lucy Volunteer Fire Department and taken from the Volunteer Fire Association. The funding is divided between all remaining 16 volunteer fire departments. When it should be placed in a savings account to help get Lucy Volunteer Fire Department back up and going.
The President of the Houston County Volunteer Fire Chief Association, Jason Reneau, has only stopped the funding rather than rolling sleeves up to get department functioning. Rather than the money being divided with all 16 volunteer departments, Gordon Volunteer Fire and Cottonwood Volunteer Fire should get because they are covering the territory. But it should go into savings with a conservator to get Lucy Volunteer Fire operational.
Sylar Deese has volunteered to be the Fire Chief, but he needs help.
Whitney Strength Ingram, a candidate for District 2 Houston County Commissioner comes from a long line of volunteers. Her Grandaddy, the late Frankie Ingram and her dad, Eddie Ingram, comes from a long line of volunteering in Houston County for emergency services. Whitney stepped up to the plate and has taken over the utility bill for Lucy Volunteer Fire Department.
Brady and Thomas with Alabama Forrestry met with residents and land owners in the area. They do not want to fight fires but willing to help financially to get the fire department active to serve the residents. The residents are paying a $ 30 fire fee without any fire protection.
THIS HOUSTON COUNTY COMMISSION, CHAIRMAN BRANDON SHOUPE, D1 CURTIS HARVEY, D2 TRACY ADAMS, D3 RICKY HERRING AND D4 JAMES IVEY screwed over former Dothan-Houston County Emergency Management Director Chris Judah. While I like Mark Powell, current Dothan-Houston County Emergency Management Director, really, the agency has ceased to be active and functional. The current director and agency is not in the county, not active in the county and should have been on top of Lucy Volunteer Fire Department getting it operating. Being a leader. I firmly believe it is at the instruction of HOUSTON COUNTY COMMISSION, CHAIRMAN BRANDON SHOUPE, D1 CURTIS HARVEY, D2 TRACY ADAMS, D3 RICKY HERRING AND D4 JAMES IVEY screwed over former Dothan-Houston County Emergency Management Director Chris Judah. While I like Mark Powell, current Dothan-Houston County Emergency Management Director, really, the agency has ceased to be active and functional. The current director and agency is not in the county, not active in the county and should have been on top of Lucy Volunteer Fire Department getting it operating. Being a leader. While I like Mark Powell, current Dothan-Houston County Emergency Management Director, really, the agency has ceased to be active and functional. The current director and agency is not in the county, not active in the county and should have been on top of Lucy Volunteer Fire Department getting it operating. Which it is my opinion it is at the direction of HOUSTON COUNTY COMMISSION, CHAIRMAN BRANDON SHOUPE, D1 CURTIS HARVEY, D2 TRACY ADAMS, D3 RICKY HERRING AND D4 JAMES IVEY. The feel EMA is a planning organization and not a responding organization. My guestion is, WHO named it Emergency Management? And the current director lives in the City of Dothan and has Dothan Fire has his coverage and not in the county.
Again, I like Mark Powell as an individual but the agency is useless to the residents of Houston County as to being active and responsive. And changing that was the common plan, scheme and design of D3 Commissioner Ricky Herring and the other 4 dumb asses just sit there and said ME TOO!!! Powell has a new county vehicle without any radios in it!!! How can you stay on top of what is happening?
D2 Commissioner Candidate Chris Love has volunteered to step up to the plate and help as needed.
Jason Reneau needs to resign as President of Houston County Volunteer Fire Association and from the E911 board because he has done nothing to improve any of it. Only kick from association and take money to divide to departments like Wicksburg, Bay Springs, Southern Junction and others not covering Lucy territory. Questions even surrond his residency of Jason Reneau in Kinsey where he serves as Mayor and Fire Chief. Reenau plays policeman riding with the police officers, which as Mayor, is a possible conflict.
NOTE @ 8:27 PM OF CLARIFICATION: Wicksburg, Bay Springs, Southern Junction do cover their territory. The example is, the money that Lucy Volunteer Fire got, is now divided by the remaining 16 fire departments. Lucy Volunteer Fire is in the southeast corner of Houston County, east of the City of Dothan. Wicksburg and Bay Springs are in the west end of Houston County. All the way across Houston County from each other. But rest assured, Wicksburg – Bay Springs – Southern Junction handle their calls.
The same example, “IF” Bay Springs for some reason closed ( ONLY AN EXAMPLE ), that would mean Wicksburg would have to handle their calls. Is it right for Gordon or Lucy to get shares of the money Bay Springs would get when Wicksburg had to handle the calls in the Bay Springs area and Gordon did not. And should the money go into a savings with a conservator to get Bay Springs back operational. AGAIN -THIS IS ONLY AN EXAMPLE. Bay Springs is operational, functioning and answering their calls. ONLY AN EXAMPLE.
THANK YOU to Whitney Ingram Strength for no lip service and stepping up to action. Thanks to Alabama Forrestry for getting on the streets. Thanks for the deer stand post that has built a fire to get things started. Thanks to Skylar.

UPDATED @ 5:39 PM
D2 Houston County Commissioner Tracy Adams stated ” I am open to support efforts to get Kucy Fire department back up and running”.
Some are discussing re-incorporation being done ASAP. None of the person I have spoken with want the Houston County Attorney, Press Register, involved in the new corporation. They will get a qualified attorney to draft the new corporation and accountant to set it up properly. That process is being initiated tomorrow. Hopefully the Houston County Commission will help fund that proecss, which will not be that expensive.
