HOUSTON COUNTY – DISTRICT 3: This evening Taylor Knight and his wife Paige Battles Knight held a campaign kick off.
The kick off was held at CELEBRATION on Highway 605 at Fortner Street. A large crowd of friends and supporters were on hand to hear Taylor’s thoughts as a candidate for District 3, Houston County Commissioner.
The incumbent Houston County Commissioner is not seeking re-election.
Taylor Knight is a life long Houston County resident. He and his wife, Paige, have raised two daughters and one son. They have attended Memphis Baptist Church for decades. Their children attended and graduated from Rehobeth School system.
Taylor Knight is in management with Air Gas in Dothan. He has served on the Southeast Healthcare Authority. He has served ( and might be currently ) as a deacon at Memphis Baptist Church.
Taylor Knight is seeking election as District 3 Houston County Commissioner. A district from Eddins Road at or near Willie Varnum Road, to include Hodgesville, Madrid, Rehobeth, Taylor to Flowers Chapel Road and into Dothan on Main Street toward South Oates Street. ( RSN is going from memory on district boundries.)
DOTHAN: 12:53 PM Dothan 911 has dispatched Dothan Fire Engine Company 3 ( Whatley Drive ), Pilcher Ambulance and Dothan Police to West Main Street and Soccer ( in front of Zaxby’s) to a motor vehicle accident with injuries.
The reports to Dothan 911 is a vehicle verses a motorcycle.
12:57 PM Dothan Police Traffic Lt. Jason Adkins is on the scene and Dothan Fire Engine Company 3. Reports on arrival the motorcycle rider was sitting on his motorcycle. So the severity of the injuries reported to Dothan 911 are less than reported.
12:55 PM A vehicle fire dispatched at Reeves Street and Westgate. Reports to Dothan 911 heavy smoke coming from under the hood. Dothan Fire Engine Company 9 ( Technology Drive ) responding. On arrival of Dothan Fire Engine Company 9 they reported nothing was visible.
12:57 PM Dothan 911 dispatched a critical injury motor vehicle accident in the 4800 block of South Park Avenue. Reports are a vehicle verses a culvert, patient bleeding from the head. Dothan Fire Engine Company 4 ( Southside ), Pilcher Ambulance and Dothan Fire responding.
1:02 PM Dothan Fire Engine 3 has returned to service reporting negative transport form the accident on West Main Street and Soccer.
1:03 PM Dothan Fire Engine 9 has returned to service from Westgate and Reeves Street. Dothan Fire reports no fire, car overheated.
1:06 PM Houston County Sheriff Deputies on the scene. Dothan Fire Engine 4 has arrived on the scene. Reports no entrappment and patient is out of vehicle. Injury status downgraded from critical.
1:15 PM Dothan Fire Engine 4 Paramedics and Pilcher Ambulance leaving the scene transporting emergency to Southeast Health.
HOUSTON COUNTY: On Monday the Houston County Commission held a public hearing on proposed changes to the subdivision regulations the commission wanted to pass.
Three Houston County businessmen spoke in opposition to the proposed changes.
DALE-GENEVA COUNTY: Around 5 AM this morning some people in Dale and Geneva County were suddenly awaken, or were already awake … but received unwanted visitors.
A combined law enforcement task force made hits in Dale and Geneva County beginning around 5 AM this morning.
Some of the agencies involved included DEA, ALEA and Dale County Sheriff Department. The ground officers had the watchful eye of WASP ( Wiregrass Aviation Support Program ) from the sky. Watching overhead for those who might be awake and have some rabbit blood in them and brain tells feet… RUN!!
Unknown who or how many were arrested. Having to wait for ALEA or Federal press releases.
Also last evening Houston County Sheriff SRT Team was in Geneva and in Geneva County. Some of the above described agencies or all of them were involved in some raids in and around Geneva last night. The Houston County Sheriff SRT Team assisted in those raids. And they might have been involved in the ones this morning. Again, we must await press releases from ALEA or the Federal agencies and that might/might not happen.
ENTERPRISE: 5:00 PM This afternoon Enterprise Police Chief Michael Moore, flanked by members of Enterprise Police Department Officers and Criminal Investigators, Coffee County Sheriff Scott Byrd and members of Coffee County Sheriff Department, the 12th Judicial Circuit ( Coffee and Pike County) District Attorney James Tarbox, ALEA-SBI Agents and FBI gae an update on the investigation into Genesis Reid.
The birthing person ( sorry, do not want to call her mother ) has been arrested for Capital Murder in the death of a child under the age of 14, and Abuse of Corpse. These are in addtiiton to the pending charges of False Reporting.
Enterprise Police Chief Michael Moore was emotional during his talk. His department and other assisting agencies have been in a 21 day investigation of looking for this precious child. Geneis Reid was last seen alive on December 25, 2025 after a visit in Dothan. Camera footage has revealed that the birthing person was seen carrying a duffle bag from her residence to the dumpster. At a later time the birthing person was seen throwing away toys that are reported to belong to Genesis in the dumpster.
Coffee County Sheriff Scott Byrd, assisted by multiple agencies, to include but not limited to the management of Coffee County landfilll have conducted some physical searches of the 100 acre landfill. The equipment have GPS units on them and they have narrowed the search area down. As of this time no heavy equipment has dug for the child.
FBI Specialists and search specialist have been deployed to find the body of Genesis. Chief Moore, Sheriff Byrd, District Attorney Tarbox and all agencies are committed to finding the body of Genesis.
District Attorney Tarbox stated, based on the best information the investigation has made available at this time, the 12th Judicial Circuit District Attorney Office will be seeking the death penalty. DA Tarbox said the final decision will be made at a later time and is subject to change of the investigation determines otherwise.
In Capital cases, rarely, are persons eligible for bond. So the birthing person of Genesis will remain in the Coffee County Jail until time for trial. In Capital Murder cases, trial could be more than a year away. A lot of due process is involved in the prosecution of death penalty cases. The only other penalty available in a Capital Murder case is life without parole.
