Enterprise native Sen. Katie Britt (R-AL) was named a deputy whip for Senate Republicans in the 119th Congress.
Majority Whip Sen. John Barrasso (R-Wyoming) named Britt as one of ten deputy whips to count votes and unite the Republican Conference, calling her an “incredible advocate” for families, according to Alabama Daily News.
“I am honored Sen. Barrasso chose me to join his team as one of the deputy whips,” Britt said in a statement. “Our new Senate Republican majority has a tremendous opportunity to get things done and enact President Trump’s agenda. As deputy whip, I am excited to help unite our conference and make a difference in the lives of hardworking Americans.”
Britt is on the Judiciary, Appropriations, Banking and Rules committees.

The Alabama Department of Public Health is warning people to be aware of signs of hypothermia as cold temperatures have gripped the state.
When the human body’s core temperature falls below 95 degrees, symptoms such as shivering, extreme fatigue, confusion, memory loss, and slurred speech can occur. Hypothermic babies can experience bright red and very cold skin and very low energy. Hypothermia is potentially fatal.
It is most common in exposed skin. It can manifest though numbness, grayish-yellow or waxy skin, and unusual stiffness. You must warm affected areas once these symptoms arise.
Those most at risk include those who may not have access to heating or proper clothing, outdoor workers, and babies in very cold bedrooms.
If you begin to see symptoms of hypothermia, immediately get the affected person to a warm room. Remove any wet clothing. Warm the person’s body. Keep them dry. Warm drinks can help, but do not give anyone experiencing hypothermia alcohol.
