Louie Morris Holloway, a resident of Dothan, Alabama died Tuesday, February 17, 2026 at Westside Terrace. He was 87.
Funeral services for Mr. Holloway will be held Sunday, February 22, 2026 at 2:30 PM at Ridgecrest Baptist Church with Pastor Ray Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 PM until 2:25 PM at the church prior to the funeral. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to; Ridgecrest Baptist Church Building Fund, 1231 Fortner St, Dothan, AL 36301.
Morris was born July 2, 1938 in Fadette, Alabama to the late Boss and Ruby Collins Holloway. He began his career in Sales at Sears and Saben Appliance before opening Brian Holloway Carpet. He and his wife, Joyce joined Ridgecrest Baptist in 1962 and he served as a Deacon, Sunday School teacher, sang in the choir and was on several committees through the years. Morris enjoyed fishing and hunting in his early years and later was fond of yardwork and his vegetable garden. He will be remembered as a loving father and grandfather and friend.
Morris is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Joyce Holloway; sister, Monette Mulkey and two brothers, Walter and Eugene Holloway.
Survivors include his sons, Brian and Michelle Holloway, Neil and Tiffany Holloway; grandchildren, Lauren Holloway Fisher (Jimmy), Lindsay Holloway Wells (Cade) and Landon Holloway; great grandchildren, Harrison, Mary Collins and Huntleigh.
Ms. Annie Bell Morse, age 49, of Pansey, Alabama passed away on Monday, February 16, 2026, at UAB Medical Center. Ms. Morse succumbed to complications from her triple bypass surgery.
Annie was born on July 30, 1976, in Dothan, Alabama to Mr. Arthur Morse and the late Mrs. Cathy Smith Morse. She spent most of her years living in the Ashford and Rehobeth areas. Annie was a 1993 graduate of Rehobeth High School. She was known for her outgoing personality and her excellent work ethic. Her work experience included many areas, but her specialty was cooking. She was employed as a senior cook at Shoney’s incorporated in Dothan. Her last employment is where she was the happiest, as a fast order cook for Breeze Inn at several locations in Cowart’s and Rehobeth. In addition her job in the last few years, she experienced great joy with her grandchildren. Annie was a member of Big Creek United Methodist Church.
Annie is survived by her three children, JP Jarrard of Black, Alabama; Stormi Jackson (Justin) of Esto, Florida; and Victoria Sanders of Dothan, Alabama. Known as Granny Bell to her grandchildren: Landon, Hunter, Paisley, Timberland, and Sawyer. Also, she is survived by a brother, Poncho Morse of Rehobeth, Alabama, and an uncle Perry Mack Smith of Rehobeth, Alabama and “Special Aunts” Virginia Singletary, Jackie Singletary, and Becky Lawrence of the Big Creek Community and a host of cousins and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, February 20, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Big Creek United Methodist Church, 8071 S. State Hwy 605 to honor Annie’s life. Family and friends are welcome to fellowship at the home of Virginia and Jackie Singletary, 7257 S. State Hwy 605 following the Celebration of Life.

Connie Sue Sexton McGlone, age 80, of Dothan, Alabama, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, February 17, 2026.
She was born June 28, 1945, in Kentucky to Jay Sexton and Julia Fultz Sexton. Connie was a gentle soul who found joy in life’s quiet beauties. She loved bird watching, crocheting, tending to her flower gardens, and spending time at the beach. Writing poetry was one of her favorite ways to express herself, and her creativity and love for nature were evident in everything she did.
She was preceded in death by her parents and by her beloved husband of 64 years, Robert McGlone.
She is survived by her son, Jerry McGlone (Joyce); grandchildren, Erica McGlone, Patrick Laakkonen (Lindsey), Patricia Laakkonen, and Mason McGlone; great-grandchildren, Brett Hobbs, Caleb Hobbs, Emily Bell, and Eli Bell; and brothers, Roger Sexton and Earl Ray Sexton. Connie also leaves behind other loving relatives and friends who will cherish her memory.
OZARK…Mrs. Hilda Hagler Houston, a resident of Ozark, died Tuesday morning, February 17, 2026, in Dale Medical Center. She was 73.
A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held from 2:00 until 4:00 P.M. Sunday, February 22, 2026, at the Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home Chapel. Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Houston, the daughter of the late Jim Hagler and Odell Long Hagler, was a proud native of Ozark. She grew up with strong family roots and a deep love for her hometown, and she carried that sense of community with her throughout her life. She graduated from Carroll High School in 1970, a milestone she always looked back on with fondness.
She dedicated forty‑four years of her life to Dale Medical Center, retiring as the Human Resources Supervisor. Her coworkers often said she was the kind of person who made the workplace feel like family. She had a gift for remembering people’s stories, celebrating their milestones, and bringing a little extra joy to special events at the hospital. Whether it was a holiday gathering, a retirement party, or just an ordinary day, she had a way of making others feel appreciated and seen.
Outside of work, she loved spending time at the lake. The peaceful water, the sunshine, and the company of friends and family were some of her happiest moments. But nothing brought her more joy than her grandchildren and great-grandson. They were the light of her life. Whether she was cheering them on at a ball game, spending weekends together, or simply listening to them talk about their day, she treasured every minute. Being “Granny” was her favorite role, and she poured her whole heart into it.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Douglas Hagler and Curt Hagler, whose memories remained close to her heart and two brothers-in-law, Billy Houston and Daniel Houston.
Mrs. Houston will be remembered for her kindness, her steady presence, and the way she made people feel loved. She lived a life full of devotion — to her family, her work family, and her community — and her legacy will continue to shine through the many lives she touched.

Judy Butterworth, of Dothan, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2026. Born on July 3, 1939, in Phenix City, Alabama, Judy’s life was a testament to her unwavering spirit and the joy she brought to those around her.
Judy was a cherished member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Dothan, where her commitment to her faith was evident in her active participation and service. Her professional life was marked by over two decades of dedicated work as a medical records specialist at Southeast Health, where she was respected and admired by her colleagues.
She was a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. Though she was preceded in death by her beloved parents James Robert Hardy and Mary Clegg Adams and her son-in-law, Danny Lewis She is survived by her children, Lisa Lewis of Dothan, Greg Butterworth (Shannon) of Eufaula, and Sharon Washington (Robert) of Dothan. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, Andy Tomberlin (Sheena) of Dothan, Nathan Tomberlin (Courtney) of Decatur, Lacey Tomberlin of Vancouver, Washington, and Keri Washington of Atlanta, Georgia; six great-grandchildren; sister, Ann Hearn of Columbus, Georgia; nephews, Keith Milligan and Gil Milligan; special friends, Kat and Janice, and her beloved fur baby, Katie, who was a source of comfort and companionship.
Those who knew Judy will fondly remember her as a great cook, whose culinary creations brought joy to many a family gathering. Her love for watching television, particularly QVC, was well-known, and it brought her simple pleasures in her leisure time.
A graveside service to honor Judy’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at Memory Hill Cemetery. Bishop Jake Mathis will officiate the service, with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing. Judy’s memory will be forever etched in the hearts of those she touched, and her spirit will continue to inspire all who knew her.
Manuel Gerardo Venegas, affectionately known as Manny to those closest to him, passed away on February 16, 2026, in Birmingham, Alabama, leaving behind a legacy of steadfast dedication and unwavering faith. Born on August 24, 1938, in Caguas, Puerto Rico, Manny’s journey through life was marked by a profound commitment to his family, his work, and his Christian beliefs.
Manuel is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Lydia Alicia Venegas, with whom he shared a life full of love and devotion. Together they raised their two children, Juan Manuel (Toni) Venegas and their children, Noel (Steven) Leopold, Jessica Venegas, Kathryn (John Mark) Porter, Joshua (Faith) Venegas, David Venegas, Lily Venegas, Julia Venegas, Samuel Venegas, Melody Venegas, and Joseph Venegas, and his great grandchild, Caleb Robert Leopold, and his daughter, Alicia (John Edward) Johnson, and their children, Laura Elizabeth Johnson and Rebecca Johnson Caltabiano (Nik), and his great-granddaughter, Mia Grace Caltabiano. Manuel also leaves behind a loving brother, Rafael Adrián Venegas, a niece, Adriana Elizabeth Venegas (Scott) Northcutt, nephews, Robert Nathan (Faith) Venegas and Rafael David Venegas, his half-brother, Evan (Sonia) Venegas, niece, Ambar Venegas, half-sister, Lizabeth Venegas (Tony), half-sister, Trinidad (Trini) de los Angeles Venegas (Victor), and several nieces and nephews who will all cherish his memory. He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law Tony Collazo.
Manny’s life was a testament to hard work and consistency. For 45 years, he dedicated his professional life to the Army Aviation Test Activity, from which he retired with honors. His colleagues knew him as a man who never wavered in his responsibilities and who could always be relied upon for his thoroughness and integrity.
His dedication at work was only matched by his commitment to his faith. A faithful servant of the Lord, Manny was a cornerstone of his local Christian community. He practiced his Catholic faith with fervor and was a devoted member of the Knights of Columbus. Manny’s passion for the Word of God was evident to all who knew him, as he spent countless hours reading his Bible and living out its teachings. His hunger for spiritual knowledge and understanding was an inspiration to many.
Manny also found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He enjoyed conversing over C.B. Radio during his drives home from work, engaging with friends and strangers alike. This hobby was one of the many ways he connected with the world around him, always eager to lend an ear or share a word of encouragement.
His legacy is one of building a strong foundation for his grandchildren, instilling in them the values of faith, family, and hard work. Manny’s life was a blueprint for how to live with purpose and grace, and his influence will continue to guide his loved ones for generations to come.
As we bid farewell to Manuel Gerardo Venegas, we are reminded of the impact one life can have on so many. Manny was a beacon of light in his community, a loving husband, a caring father and grandfather, and a devout Christian.
