These upgrades will allow Wiregrass Electric to better serve their members.
Within the next 30 minutes from now, 10:41 AM, or less power should be back on.

MONTGOMERY: Well in Montgomery Alabama, the Capital City of the State of Alabama, this past weekend two people dead, 12 injured from gunfire, 5 with life threatening injuries.
“Alabamians lost their lives at the hands of thugs in downtown Montgomery this weekend,” Alabama Governor Kay Ivey said.
According to some news outlets Governor Kay Ivey called the Mayor of Montgomery who did not take her call or return her call. The Montgomery Mayor said one reason for the problem is the Governor and Alabama Legislature which changed the laws on possession of firearms.
In Birmingham, I guess the citizens are not Alabamians. Gunfire deaths happen constantly in Birmingham. And the only thing that Alabama Governor Kay Ivey and Alabama Attorney Geenral Steve Marshall has done is assemble a task force on electronic bingo. NO TASK FORCE ON VIOLENT CRIME.
And the Attorney General claims he is the top law enforcement officer of the State of Alabama. I disagree. The TOP law enforcement officer is the Sheriff of a county. The Attorney General is the top prosecutor, and no law degree is required.
Folks, here is my point. In Montgomery a man testified in court in Montgomery County, walked out of the courthouse and was gunned down in the street in front of the Montgomery County Courthouse. Just blocks from the Governor and Attorney General Office. In Jefferson County, just three months into office as Sheriff, the Attorney General was ordering the new Sheriff, who was black and defeated a 5 term white man who had been Sheriff, to raid the bingo places in Jefferson County. The new Sheriff, Pettway. said NO, he was more concerned with drugs and violent crime then electronic bingo. So then Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall, Alabama Governor and ALEA put together a task force and raided the bingo places. Yes, the Sheriff borther had a bingo place, he filed suit against the Attorney General and the courts ruled in favor of the Sheriff’s brother.
But no task force was ever developed by the Attorney General, Governor or ALEA to tackle the violent crime in Birmingham.
“Alabamians lost their lives at the hands of thugs in downtown Montgomery this weekend,” Ivey said. Well said Governor, how many have been killed in Birmingham and you have done N O T H I N G!!!
So politicians amaze me. There is something about when they take office the oxygen gets sucked from their brain and it stops functioning.
If ya’ll can not get it under control, let me provide you with some names: Former Houston County Sheriff Andy Hughes which was screwed by ALEA; Former Dothan Police Chief Steve Parrish; Dothan Police Chief Will Benny; Dothan Police Major Will Glover; some other members of Dothan Police Department; Houston County Sheriff Donald Valenza; Houston County Sheriff Captain Tony Turner; Houston County Sheriff Captain Donnovan Arias; Dale County Sheriff Mason Bynum; Henry County Sheriff Eric Blankenship; Retired Dothan Police Lt. Duane Herring; Daleville Police Chief John Crawford; and several within ALEA of which I will not name because I know this article offends ya’ll. And I can name many more who are capable of leading the fight. And I will probably catch heat and be blasted because I am calling ya’ll ( Governor/Attorney General/ALEA ) out.
“Alabamians lost their lives at the hands of thugs in downtown Montgomery this weekend,” Ivey said.
Well Governor, this is not the first time. But you focus on electronic bingo which has not killed anyone. But the alcohol sold by the State of Alabama has killed more people. And the State of Alabama is the ONLY VENDOR of liquor in the State of Alabama. And you indicate in comments, the alochol sold by the State of Alabama possibly played a factor in these shootings.
I just shake my head.
“Alabamians lost their lives at the hands of thugs in downtown Montgomery this weekend,” Ivey said.
HEADLAND: This past Friday Henry County Central 911 dispatched a firearm assault at Greentree Apartment in Headland. The call to 911, which was dispatched to responding officers, several shots fired and possibly two persons shot.
Within sixty ( 60 ) seconds of the call being dispatched the first officer aerrived on the scene. That officer was Caleb Sullenberger. On his arrival he found two subjects with gunshot wounds. One person was deceased and the second with wounds.
When a law enforcement officer enters a scene as this, the officer has to pay close attention to his/her safety in that is there an active shooter, where everyone is at, and what dangers are encountered, and is it safe for EMS to enter the scene. Headland Officer Sullenberger made the quick assessment as other officers were arriving and gave immediate aid to the victims. Headland Fire – EMS arrived within seconds of Officer Sullenberger as did other Headland Police Officers.
The suspect, who had fled into another apartment, shortly gave himself up to Officer Sullenberger. However there were immediate questions did the suspect act alone or with another. All of the above took place within seconds of arriving on the scene.
Multiple Headland Police Officers, Chief Mark Jones, multiple Henry County Sheriff Deputies, Sheriff Eric Blankenship, Henry County Sheriff SRT Unit, ALEA Trooper Adkinson and Sgt. McAllister, Dothan Police Crime Scene Unit, Henry County Coroner Derek Wright all responded to the scene.
Headland is a quiet town and the crime rate is low. There are not many firearm assaults they respond to or major crime scenes such as this with two people shot, one of which is deceased. Obtaining information quickly is important and making sure all if safe is a top priority as well as attempting to save lives.
The manner in which all involved handled the situation is noted as a professional operation. All agencies worked as one and all officers worked as one.
RSN observed Headland Police Officer Caleb Sullenberger. He was calm, professional, getting details of what was going on to document in his report. Who all was present on the scene and the roles each were playing. DETAILS – DETAILS – DETAILS … always important in cases.
While all did an outstanding job, and RSN is not trying to place one above anyone else on the scene, but as a young officer of which perhaps this was his first double shooting and one dead, did a fantastic job, professional and calm.
While the situation was sad because someone lost their life, one had a gunshot, and someone’s son is charged with a death penalty offense, it was great to see all agencies working together as one.
We also must mention, because there was an immediate qurestion as to the number of victims, Abbeville Rescue responded and was ready if needed. And the Henry County Central 911 Center did a great job with all of the 911 calls and radio traffic.
The residents of Headland, the citizens of Henry County, can be proud of all of the agencies.
NOTE: Picture above is a file picture: Trooper Sanders was off duty and not on the scene. The above picture is Headland Police Chief/Director of Public Safety Mark Jones, far left is former Headland Police Officer Aaron Sanders who is now an ALEA – Trooper and in the middle is Headland Police Officer Caleb Sullenberger.
HOUSTON COUNTY: The elections for most all county, state and some federal offices will be in May and November 2026. The incumbent Houston County Coroner has said he does not intend to seek re-election in 2026.
Kendall Glover has confirmed his intentions to seek election as Houston County Coroner in 2026. Glover will run on the Republican ticket with the primaries being in May 2026 and general election in Noevmber 2026.
Kendall Glover owns and operates Glover Funeral Home on Hartford Highway in Dothan. As a long time funeral director and embalmer, Glover is fimiliar with the bodies and death. His training could help detect that something is just not right and needs further examination and investigation.
A Coroner is called when there is an unattended death or a death as a result of another. The Coroner works hand in hand with all law enforcement in Alabama and across the state lines with the two hospitals in Houston County. Kendall Glover has a great relationship with law enforcement and pledges full cooperation and a great partnership to serve the citizens in need.
Kendall Glover is expected to make a formal announcement in the future.
