DOTHAN: Dothan School Board Member Brenda Guilford, not the Board Chairman, called a meeting for Monday to approve the contract negotiated by an attorney not legally hired for the new Superintendent.
This is the audio where Brett Strickland, Melanie Hill, Franklin Jones and Brenda Guilford approved this 5 year contract for almost $ 300.000.00 per year
Brett Strickland did not seek re-election and sends his children to private school. But it is interesting to note he played a active role in dialogue with the illegally hired attorney to negotiate the contract. The new school board, four new members, take office October 6, 2025.
But Strickland – not returning to the board: Melanie Hill – not returning to the board: Franklin Jones and Brenda Guilford have been determined for a contract that goes until year 2030, which is after the next election.
This has never been about the person hired. About the process and how these 4 board members, who have no children in the Dothan City Schools, have been determined to force a Superintendent on the new school board. And Brett Strickland thinks so much of the Dothan School system that he sends his children to private school.
DOTHAN: Today the Dothan City Commission and Mayor met in a regular scheduled meeting. The purpose of the meeting was to certify the election.
Some provisional ballots increased numbers and that increased some candidates totals. But that did not change the winners that have already been published or the run off’s already published.
