MORE INFORMATION: Three more Alabama teenagers have been charged with the Pier Park shooting that left three people injured in Panama City Beach Saturday.
18-year-old Kevin Tyron Moore from Dothan, Alabama, was charged with three counts of Attempted Homicide.
15-year-old Jamarion Lamont Baker, from Dothan, Alabama, was charged with Attempted Homicide.
17-year-old Avaughn Ahmad Brown, from Troy, Alabama, was charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Minor, Possession of a Controlled Substance (Cannabis, approximately 68 grams), and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Brown voluntarily surrendered to authorities in Troy, Alabama.
Panama City Beach Police Chief Police Chief J.R. Talamantez had stern words regarding the Alabama teenagers causing problems.
“This trash that comes from that area,” Talamantez. He followed up by saying wonderful people are from the Dothan area.
Talamantez did not identify the suspects’ gang affiliation: “They don’t deserve to have their stupid names mentioned.”
He said the shooting at Pier Park was still under investigation, and that the suspects were talking.
“We know who you are, all right?” he said. “These little teenagers, they’re talking, they’re telling us everything we need to know… If you’re in the Dothan, Alabama area and thinking of coming back to Panama City Beach this weekend, you might be doing us a favor because we have arrest warrants for you.”
“The stupidity that you do at your home is not how (you) operate at our home,” Talamantez added. “I don’t know how many times we have to address that this is not the place for this type of behavior. If you commit a crime in Panama City Beach, we will hold you accountable.”
DOTHAN – PANAMA CITY BEACH FL: 12:19 PM Dothan Police Department, joined by Panama City Beach Police Department and the United States Federal Marshals Task Force have taken at least one suspect into custody in Dothan for the Saturday night shooting in Longboards located in Panama City.
Early this morning in a South College Street residence, Isaiah Tyshawn McKenzie, age 19, was taken into custody.
McKenzie has been charged for discharging a firearm from a vehicle within 1,000 feet of a person, possession of a firearm in commission of a felony offense, improper exhibition of a firearm, carrying a concealed firearm, and tampering with physical evidence.
Law Enforcement Officers from Panama City Beach, Florida, have been in Dothan questioning the suspects.
McKenzie will be kept in custody of Dothan Police or Houston County Sheriff pending signing a waiver of extradition. If McKenzie refuses, a Governor’s warrant will be obtained and and he will then go back to Bay County, Florida, to face justice.
IT IS A SHAME AND DISGRACE that young people from Dothan went to Panama City Beach and caused all of this.

DOTHAN: 7:49 PM. Last evening Dothan Police was dispatched to Johnson Homes to a complaint. Once Dothan Police arrived at the call, which was a male with a gun, the suspects fled.
As Dothan Police gave foot chase of the suspect(s) one of the suspect(s) turned toward the police officer and fired shots. By the grace of GOD the Dothan Police Officer was not struck. And the suspect was not struck.
Dothan Police immediately began an investigation. Today the Dothan Police Department took a juvenile in custody.
UPDATE: In a release, Dothan Police confirmed a juvenile was charged with firing a gun at a police officer.
Just before 11 p.m. on April 2, DPD responded to reports of a person with a firearm at North Range Street and Alabama Avenue.
On-scene units discovered a person matching descriptions, who ran away with two other people.
One of those people pointed a weapon at an officer and fired on shot. Fortunately, the officer was not struck and unharmed.
All three initially managed to get away.

Two students were taken to the hospital with minor injured after the gymnasium roof collapsed at Dothan Prep. Five students total reported injuries, all minor.
DCS Board Chairman Scott Childers described extensive damage to Dothan Prep, saying it would take time for the school to recover.

Superintendent Dennis Coe approved a state of emergency for schools affected by the apparent tornado, intended to allow for a faster bid process to make sure repairs can be completed in a timely manner.
Among roofing damage, HVAC systems were damaged; other problems are being assessed, but power is expected to be out in the area of DPA for the next few days.
“I’m so thankful we didn’t have any serious issues or fatalities,” Coe said at last night’s specially-called board meeting. “I’m thankful our folks responded in the way they did.”
A structural engineer will be at DPA today. Roofing crews were on the scene yesterday and will likely be back today.
What seems to be a tornado swept through downtown/south Dothan, causing extensive damage.
Dothan in the area of Dothan Prep could easily be described as organized chaos with multiple roads closed, power lines down and tree limbs down, some of which crashed into homes.
“Our community is resilient, and we will work together to recover from this severe weather event,” said Dothan Mayor Mark Saliba. “We are grateful there have not been any serious injuries reported. We are proud of our first responders and utility crews who are working tirelessly to ensure the safety of our residents.”
REPORTED DAMAGE: Damage is extensive; large trees were uprooted, limbs snapped onto cars and at least one vehicle. Dothan Prep’s gym roof collapsed, and Southeast Health saw some building damage.
OUTAGES: After around 3,000 outages yesterday directly after the storm, Houston County now reports some 37 outages.
In the coming days and weeks, numerous out-of-town contractors will be providing roof repair, tree removal, and other services related to storm damage. The City of Dothan urges you to PLEASE be careful of unlicensed and unbonded contractors. Permit fees are being waived for work related to storm damage repairs to your property. Residents who suffered damage from the storms MUST apply for permits for repair work to be performed. For permits and questions about permits, residents may call 334-615-4450 or may email permits@dothan.org.
Storm-related debris should be taken to the curbside to be picked up by Dothan’s Environmental Services Division. Crews will work over the coming weeks to pick up all of the storm-related waste. Please exercise patience with our crews as they work through this clean-up period.
If residents have trees that have come down on their property, tree services can cut up the downed trees and place them at the curbside. City of Dothan crews will pick up these trees during the storm clean-up process.
