Mrs. Dorothy Louise Tomlin of Hartford peacefully departed this life to be with the Lord on Friday, May 29, 2026, at the age of 91, embraced by the loving presence of her family.

A celebration of Mrs. Tomlin’s remarkable life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, June 1, 2026, at the Geneva Holiness Church. Reverend Cliff Foster and Reverend Michael Smith will officiate the service, with Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb honored to assist. Following the service, interment will take place at the Highfalls Assembly of God Church Cemetery. The family warmly invites friends to join them at the church beginning one hour prior to the service.

Born in Newport, Arkansas, on January 8, 1935, to the late Hulet and Edna Smith Brooks, Louise was a devoted servant of God whose steadfast faith illuminated every facet of her life. A true “Saint” of God, she embodied the boundless love of Christ through both deed and spirit. Mrs. Tomlin found joy and fulfillment in quilting, sewing, and crocheting, and her gracious Southern hospitality blessed her family with countless memorable meals. Her affection for simple pleasures extended to fishing—both the pursuit and the enjoyment of fish—and she took great delight in tending her vegetable and flower gardens.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Louie Tomlin; her son, Herman Tomlin; and her siblings Martha Ingalls, Edna Brooks, Leroy Brooks, Lloyd Brooks, Barbara Brooks, and Christine Brooks.

Mrs. Tomlin leaves behind a legacy rich in love and cherished memories through her son Kenneth Tomlin; daughter-in-law Patricia Tomlin; grandchildren Tammy Brock (David), Jason Tomlin, and Jessica Padget (Scott); great-grandchildren Justin Brock (Breanna), Gracie Albritton (Ethan), Hannah Hughes, and Donnie Hughes; great-great-grandchildren Jackson Brock, Delilah Brock, and Murphy Albritton; sister Francis Wakeland (Les); niece Ginger Borja (Luciano); her devoted church family; and a wide circle of extended family and friends who will forever hold her memory dear.

Pallbearers will be Charlie Howell, Steve Hall, Michael Smith, Caleb Foster, Winton Fulford, and Josh Fulford.

The life of Mrs. Dorothy Louise Tomlin stands as a testament to faith, love, and dedication, leaving an enduring mark on all who were privileged to know her. Her gentle spirit and noble heart will continue to inspire those who carry forward her treasured legacy.

Homer Adams, of Taylor, Alabama, passed away on May 23, 2026. He was 87. He lived a life marked by hard work, devotion to family, and quiet strength. He was known by those who loved him as a dependable man who met life with determination and a steady spirit.

A private memorial service will be held by the family at a later date.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Iris Adams, and by a sister, Shirley Reynolds. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, JoEllen Adams, who shared in his life’s journey with love and companionship. He also leaves behind his sons, Grant Adams and Joseph Howe, and his daughters, Delma Smith and Denise Stone. His sister, Louise Johnson, survives him as well. Homer was a proud grandfather to Zachary Adams, Toni and Scott Yates, and Tabatha and Justin Bartfls, and he cherished the joy and connection that came with being part of a growing family.

Homer served his country in the United States Air Force for five years, an experience that reflected his sense of duty and discipline. After his military service, he built a career as a long-haul truck driver, a profession that suited his strong work ethic and willingness to travel wherever responsibility called. He took pride in working hard for his family, and that dedication shaped much of the life he lived. Those who knew him understood that his efforts were never for himself alone, but always with the well-being of his loved ones in mind.

Homer will be remembered as a man who lived with purpose and who showed his love through action. He was not one to seek attention, but his presence was felt deeply by those around him. His family and friends will remember his steady nature, his willingness to work hard, and the example he set through a lifetime of responsibility and care. He understood the importance of perseverance and carried himself with the kind of quiet dignity that leaves a lasting impression.

He leaves behind a family who loved him deeply and a legacy built on strength, sacrifice, and enduring love. His memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew him, and he will be remembered with gratitude for the life he lived and the family he helped shape.

Judy Elaine (Tew) Watson, a resident of Eufaula, Alabama, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 29, 2026, at her residence. She was 77 years old.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. in the Glover Funeral Home Chapel in Eufaula with Rev. Matt Helms and Rev. Drexel Copeland officiating. The burial will follow in the Pine Level Baptist Church Cemetery in Louisville, Alabama with Glover Funeral Home directing. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Flowers will be accepted.

Judy was born on August 25, 1948, in Barbour County, Alabama to the late Edward Tew and Percy Williams. She worked as a secretary at Echo Logging Inc. She enjoyed reading, playing cards, cooking, and crocheting. She was a member of Family of God Baptist Church and enjoyed being a member of the prayer group.

She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Cathryn Tew Dykes; brother, LeDon Tew (Beverly).

Left to cherish her memories are her loving husband of 60 years, Julian Roger Watson; two sons, Craig Watson (Dawn) and Chris Watson (Felecia); two grandchildren, Brantley Williford (Alex) and River Watson; two extended grandchildren, Tyler Grace (Macey) and Marley McCauley; two great-grandchildren, Mazie and Mollie Williford; two half-brothers, Jerry Tew and Eric J. Tew; half-sister, Jan T. Allen; brother-in-law, Robert Dykes.

Asked to serve as pallbearers are River Watson, Jeffrey Dykes, Seth Dykes, Mike McDaniel, Randy Flemming, and Alex Williford.

Donald Fraser Hand was born on December 21, 1932, to Johnnie and Annie Hand in Panama City Florida. He was a proud graduate of The University of Florida with a Bachelors and Masters in Rehabilitation. He graduated to his eternal degree this past Thursday, May 28, 2026.

Mr. Hand served his country for 4 years in the United States Navy. He was a Mason and a Civitan, serving in leadership roles. He was named Realtor of the year in Tuscaloosa, AL several times and had numerous awards from the Civitan Club and Masons. He was a member of Grimes Methodist Church.

Don had a varied career in his 93 years. He was a rehabilitation counselor at West Alabama Rehab before becoming the director. He left West Alabama Rehab to build a successful real estate agency in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

Don is survived by his bride of 43 years, Mary Carr Hand, his daughter Renee Hand Potter, his step-daughter Anna Kate Owens and 2 grandchildren, Lauren Walsh and Grace Owens. He was preceded in death by his son Kevin, sisters, Willie Ann Miller and Mary Hand Price, and brother Laurice Hand.

The family wishes to express appreciation to an army of wonderful caregivers, Kenny Beaty and his family and to Grimes Methodist Church. The family also suggests that memorials be directed to Grimes Methodist Church, 404 Parramore Road, Dothan, AL 36303.

The graveside service will be held Saturday, May 30, 2026 at 11:00 AM, at Sunset Memorial Park, 1700 Barrington Road, Dothan, AL.

MIDLAND CITY. . .Donna Frost Sheplar, a resident of Midland City, Alabama, passed away early Thursday morning, May 28, 2026, in a Dothan hospital. She was 69.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, May 31, 2026, in Shiloh Word Fellowship, 3498 Highway 10, Clio, AL 36017, with Pastor James E. “Buddy” Ward, Jr. and Jonathan Smith officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Sunday in the church sanctuary. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Donna Sheplar was born in Batesville, Indiana. She formerly lived in Connersville, Indiana, and in Barbour County, near Blue Springs, before moving to Midland City in February 2026. Donna was an active member of Shiloh Word Fellowship where she taught Children’s Ministry. She loved and enjoyed her church that was like a second family to her. Donna enjoyed traveling to the Smoky Mountains and loved to cook for her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Verlin Frost, and her mother, Mary Effie Slover Frost. Donna was also preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Sheplar and two brothers, Verlin Frost, Jr. and John Frost.

Surviving relatives include her daughters, Michelle Martin (Phillip), Dothan; LaDeana German (Eddie), Ozark; Christina Faulk (Ryan), Ozark; Savannah Hovis (David), Clio; a son, Michael Brown (Alicia), Ariton; sisters, Ranona Chasteen (Nick), Clio; Kendra Fleming (Curt), Shorterville; and Mary Terry (Michael), Glenwood, Indiana; brothers, David Frost, Ozark; Shawn Frost (Cheryl), Liberty, Indiana; James Frost (Melissa), Samson; and Jehu Frost, Clio; a sister-in-law, Beth Frost, Williamsburg, Indiana; grandchildren, Savannah Enfinger (Spencer), Johnathan Martin (Brittany), Allissa Armstrong (Joseph), Megan Warr (Austin), Jacob Williams, Thomas “TC” Williams (Candice), Prestion Williams, Ethan Napper, Rayleigh Napper, Destiny Bell (Josh), Faith Brown (Treyton McGough), Christian Brown, Peyton Hovis, Hannah Hovis, Paisley Hovis and Shep Hovis; twenty-five great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held at 4:30 P.M. Sunday, May 31, 2026 in the Shorterville Baptist Church with Elder Josh Kennedy officiating. The family will receive friends following the memorial service.

Tammy Norris was born in Ft. Gaines, Georgia, daughter of the late Merlin and Farise Martin Norris. She was raised in Shorterville where she lived all her lifetime. Tammy was a member of Shorterville Baptist Church. She was retired from Allied Motors (Globe Motors). Tammy was preceded in death by her sisters, Connie Norris and Wanda Norris Holmes.
