Judy Watson Kingry, a resident of Dothan passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on September 8, 2025. She was 85 years old.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Covenant Methodist Church at 1:00pm on Thursday September 11, 2025 with Bishop Mike Watson and Rev. Kyle Gatlin officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:45am-12:45pm.

Judy was born July 24, 1940 to Excell and Allie Watson. Judy was a graduate of Dothan High School, Stephens College, Huntingdon College, and Auburn University. Judy had an outstanding career teaching elementary school in the Dothan City schools for thirty-two years. She accumulated many honors over the years, but her greatest joy was positively impacting the lives of countless schoolchildren in our community. Her influence was multiplied when she served as a Supervising Teacher for Troy University where she trained new teachers. Judy loved to serve the Lord through her church. In high school, she played the piano at Lafayette Street Methodist Church. As an adult, she was a member of First Methodist Church in Dothan where she served as President of United Methodist Women, taught Sunday School at Wesley Place once a month for seventeen years, served as a Certified Lay Speaker in the Dothan District of the Methodist Church, and served as a delegate to numerous Methodist Conferences locally and around the world. Judy had many hobbies that included fishing and skiing with her family, writing her book Dear Boys and Girls, composing songs, attending Auburn football games, gardening, and traveling the world.
Judy was preceded in death by her father, Benjamin Excell Watson and her mother, Allie Dykes Watson.
Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Gip Kingry of Dothan; her children Dr. Mark Kingry (Beth) of Montgomery, Bryant Kingry (Jennifer) of Overland Park, Kansas and Dr. Kevin Kingry (Mary) of Dothan; grandchildren, Erin Kingry Martin (Austin), Lauren Kingry Smith (Matt), Allison Kingry, Meredith Kingry Sonnenschein (Chad), Justin Kingry, Kendall Kingry, Kate Kingry, Connor Kingry and McLain Kingry; great grandchildren, Nora Martin, Nellie Martin, Anderson Smith and Thomas Smith; brother, Bishop Mike Watson (Margaret); and an extended loving family.

ARITON…Mr. Tullie Robert “Robin” Culverhouse, Jr., a resident of Ariton, died Saturday, September 6, 2025, at his home. He was 64.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 P.M. Saturday, September 13, 2025, at Center Ridge Baptist Church with Reverend Dave Walsh and Reverend Guy Causey officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 4:00 P.M. Saturday at the church.

Mr. Culverhouse was a proud son of Ariton, Alabama—a town he loved deeply and never left. Born to the late Tullie Robert Culverhouse, Sr. and Nina Jo Harper Culverhouse, he grew up surrounded by the values of hard work, faith, and family. He graduated from Ariton High School in 1979, and from that point on, he poured his heart into building a life rooted in the same community that raised him.
He ran Culverhouse, Inc. right there in town, a business that reflected his dedication and grit. He also served on the Pea River Electric Cooperative Board of Directors, always looking for ways to give back and help his neighbors. Whether it was through work or service, Mr. Culverhouse believed in showing up for people.
But beyond his professional life, what truly defined him was his love for gathering with family and friends. He had a gift for making folks feel welcome—whether it was a 4th of July barbecue, or just a casual visit, he made sure there was laughter, good food, and plenty of stories shared. He was the kind of man who asked about your family, and made you feel like you mattered.
Faith was a cornerstone of his life. As a Deacon of Ariton Baptist Church, he found strength and purpose in his beliefs, and he carried that quiet grace into everything he did. He was the kind of person who didn’t just talk about kindness—he lived it.
Mr. Culverhouse’s heart was forever tied to his beloved wife, Peggy Harden Culverhouse, who passed before him. He also carried the memory of his two brothers, Christopher Jay Culverhouse and Obie Lee Culverhouse, whose absence he felt deeply. Though he endured great loss, he never let it harden him. Instead, he held tighter to the people he loved and the town that shaped him.
He leaves behind a legacy of generosity, loyalty, and love—a life well-lived, and a man well-loved.
Surviving relatives include his son, Tullie Robert Culverhouse, III and his wife, Traci Ann Culverhouse, Ariton; his daughter, Ciara Whatley and her husband, Dr. Wade Whatley, Abbeville; four grandchildren, Mary Griggs Whatley, Tullie Robert “Rob” Culverhouse, IV, Sibyl Ann Culverhouse, and Wells Culverhouse; aunts and uncles, Charlotte Culverhouse Neupauer, Ozark, Margie and Don McCall, Ariton, and Chuck and Susie Davis, New Brockton; sister-in-law, Martha Harden, Roeton Community; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Justin Senn, Jabe Harden, Justin McGhee, Joey McGhee, Jeremy Bell and Pastor Robin Bell.

Marjorie Parmer Hunt, born on August 22, 1928, passed peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on September 7, 2025. She was a faithful follower of Christ and servant to those around her. She now rests peacefully in the arms of Jesus.
Marjorie’s dedication to her family, church and community spoke volumes of her character. Margorie was born in Dothan, Alabama. She resided in Dothan for the first five years of life before moving to Barbour County where she attended Blue Springs schoolhouse and graduated in 1946.
She then attended business school in Birmingham. Following business school, she moved back to Dothan and began working for Dr. Coleman as office manager. She continued working at Hedstrom for fourteen years and then completed her career with the Houston County commission as Chief Clerk retiring in 1989.
While her career was important, she held her marriage to Leon Hunt dearest to her heart. Marjorie and Leon attended local churches until settling at Selma Baptist Church. There they spent time thriving in Sunday School and Senior Citizens groups.
Marjorie was proceeded in death by her parents Roy and Anna Belle Parmer. Her husband of sixty-six years Leon Hunt, and two brothers, Maxwell Parmer and Donald Parmer.
Remaining living relatives include her daughter Judy Clardy, of Webb; two Grandsons, Chris Clardy (Angel) of Columbia, and Todd Clardy of Los Angeles, CA; two great-grandchildren, Clint Clardy (Sara) of Dothan and Abby Ramirez (Angel) of Columbia; and a great-great grandson, Woods Clardy. Marjorie was loved by many including a host of sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews.
The family would like to extend their gratefulness to Mrs. Gloria Kelley for her three years of dedication caring for Marjorie’s needs.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at Glover Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Memory Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:45 until 1:45 p.m. in the funeral home chapel prior to services.
Flowers accepted or donations may be made in memory to Selma Baptist Church.

OZARK…Arthur Staples passed away at his home in Ozark, Alabama from natural causes at the age of sixty-nine years old.
In keeping with the wishes of the family, there are no public services planned at this time. Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark is in charge of arrangements.
Art or Artie as he was called by those who knew him well was born August 28th, 1956, in Germany to the late Lillian Shirley and Wesley Staples.
In his youth, Artie enjoyed riding motorcycles, driving sports cars, and playing his guitars. Artie spent most of his life working as an iron worker. He was an excellent welder and active in the Iron Workers Union. Although Artie fought many personal battles, he was content in his later years living a simple life with his faithful canine companion, JoJo.
Artie was preceded in death by his parents, Shirley Bowman Staples and Wesley Staples, and his sister, Yulonda (Lannie) Hagler.
He is survived by four sons, Chad, Christopher, A.J., and John Claude, two sisters, Rhonda (Scott) Childers, Kim (Lee) Tharpe, and one brother, Darryl Staples.

With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother , sister and aunt, Elizabeth Diane Collins of Gulf Breeze, Fl. who passed away peacefully on September 4, 2025 at the age of 79.
Graveside services will be held at 2:30 PM Tuesday, September 9, 2025 at Memphis Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 PM until 2 PM prior to the service at the funeral home.
She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, George Collins, her children Robin Hays, Trent (Lana), Jason (Belinda), her grandchildren Kayla, Peyton, Tyler, Alexis, Courtney and Derek, great grandchildren Draven, Noah and Maverick, sister Cheryl Cannon (Denis), niece Angie and nephew Chris.
She was preceded in death by her parents Clarence and Eunice Smith and son in law Terril Hays.
